It's a content syndication service, it automatically distributes your links to a lot of different social bookmarking sites.
I think, you should avoid this kind of services.
Short answer is no.
You should distribute a press release only when you really have to say something important. Moreover, you will have a better chance when your content is customized.
Also, I don't think that submitting it to many PR sites is a good idea. You can choose one of the top press release distribution sites, for example PRWeb, PRnewswire and submit your PR no more than once in a month.
And of course, there is a great blog post: http://www.seomoz.org/blog/are-you-wasting-budget-with-online-press-release-distribution-14595
You can view Moz's 2011 Search Engine Ranking Factors, there is a proof that a domain that starts with a target keyword has more power than other sites. And, keywords which appears in the subdomain name, also boosts rank.
But keep in mind that the keyword should be relevant and the website should be a quality site.

I just remembered that when I got 50 mozPoints I had to receive a hug from Roger.
So, I need my hug!
There are really few article submission websites which are useful. Some good ones are: EzineArticles, GoArticles, ArticleCity, SooperArticles
Keep in mind, that some of them does not allow to put links in the article, some of them add "nofollow" to your links, some allow to insert no more than 1-2 links in the article body etc.
Some of them require to post unique articles, for example Sooperarticles.com
Value of these web-sites might be that you will have some high PR backlinks and additional traffic source, if your articles are really useful.
You should definitely contact to the visual.ly team via http://visual.ly/contact form and report the "terms of use violation". I believe they will respond quickly.
As you mentioned, Google does not allows such reciprocal links.
I think, you should avoid making this kind of deals, i.e. ignore them.
ahrefs.com can show it to you
You should (definitely) not delete the current account. Why loose all that fans?
Maybe you should consider to change name like "New Name (Formerly Old Name)" and after some time, maybe after a couple of month, remove old name.
There is an interesting article on SEW that Google is going to update Penguin to the next major version - http://bit.ly/15Vkr6O
So what do you think, what should we expect? And also, is there available updated webmaster guidelines?
My 2 cents for WordPress, it has plenty of addins and very easy to install and configure.
WordPress has a very good SEO Tools addins, there are a lot of skins available and you can easily find someone who can install or create custom plug-ins for it.
Try BuzzStream, it's a good tool for collecting prospects.
Matt Cutts somewhere said that the difference between a domain that's six month old verses one year old is really not that big at all. So we can guess that they use domain age as a ranking factor, but it is not so important.
There is a great infographic about Google ranking factors: http://www.entrepreneur.com/dbimages/article/ranking_factors_infographic_2.jpg
There are a lot of them: PRWeb, PRnewswire, i-newswire, PRLeap.
And as mentioned earlier, Google does not give a lot of importance of links from Press Release sites, but if you have a good story you can use the PR sites to tell it.
Actually, there is a pretty good explanation http://www.seomoz.org/help/ose-overview
Also, you can see very informative hints on OpenSiteExplorer. Simply type your domain and view each column title's hint.
I suppose that, the link path is incorrect in your web.config file
It seems that there are really good answers already in the Q/A:
And, the short answer is that you should avoid submitting articles in such directories. Sometimes it will even harm your site.
Also, I noticed that my article on Ezine is copied to a bunch of low-quality web-sites. Of course they removed my on-page links.
What if there was JourneyMan and JourneyWoman and depending the provided gender in your profile it would change?
Of course SEOMoz should add such field first in the profile
About your question #1: It will give you some benefits, if you have a domain name containing keywords and it is more preferable if you use domain without dashes i.e. your-keyword.com
It depends who asks and how. If it is interesting, I tweet/share the link.
