I do think landing pages for each sub category are the way to go.

To land page or not to land page
Hey all,
I wish to increase my sites rankings on a variety of keywords within sub categories but I'm unsure where to be spending the time in SEO.
Here's an example of the website page structure:
General Home Page
> Sub Category 1 Home Page
> Searching / Results pages
- Sub Category 1
- Sub Category 2
- Sub Category 3
- Sub Category 4> Sub Category 2 Home Page
> Searching / Results pages
- Sub Category 1
- Sub Category 2
- Sub Category 3
- Sub Category 4We've newly introduced the Sub Category Home Pages and I was wondering if SEO is best performed on these pages or should landing pages be built, one for each of the 4 sub categories in each section. Those landing pages would have links to the "Searching / Results pages" for that sub category.
Thanks!

RE: Images being ranked
The required properties to be listed are found here:
http://support.google.com/webmasters/bin/topic.py?hl=en&topic=21997My website has many profiles of aged care facilities with photos and so I'm looking for a way to display these photos on Google.
Trouble is I can't seem to find the right rich snippet type that Google supports.
The organizations snippet looks fitting however it doesn't include an image within it's property types.

RE: Images being ranked
Interesting stuff. Just a few questions:
How many itemprops are needed in order to be listed by Google? I counted 10 one one of the pages.
In your experience how long would it take before Google picks up on the changes and displays them?

RE: Too many On-Page Links warning + Javascript Menu
Hi Keri,
Those footer city links aren't actually injected via Javascript, they are written so search engines can see (and therefore count) them.
I suggest start there if you want to cut down on links as that seems to be the area with most links.

RE: Why do pages with canonical urls show in my report as a "Duplicate Page Title"?
Thanks Adam, that would be very awesome of you and your team!

RE: Why do pages with canonical urls show in my report as a "Duplicate Page Title"?
Thanks Peter, Google follows my implementation correctly so I'm pretty sure it's something overlooked in SEOMoz Pro

RE: Canonical URL's - Do they need to be on the "pointed at" page?
Thanks everyone for the great answers.
My website contains over 216,000 pages, most of them being search result pages with canonical urls.
I can't justify adding extra code that points the link juice to the same page it's on so I'll leave the canonical url off the target page.
I'll be monitoring the behaviour and will report back if I notice anything.

Canonical URL's - Do they need to be on the "pointed at" page?
My understanding is that they are only required on the "pointing pages" however I've recently heard otherwise.

I'd love a few more opinions on this. So far everything I've read has said only to place the canonical on the pointing page.

RE: Too many On-Page Links warning + Javascript Menu
If you're referencing this site:
http://eldercareabcblog.com/recognizing-the-differences-between-the-normal-effects-of-aging-and-dementia/Then take a look at your HTML as I saw many links.
For the URL above, most links seem to be in the 'Sponsors' area and the 'Archives' & 'Categories' areas. -
Title Element too Long - Counts ampersand as &
I was wondering if Google counts the ampersand written as '&' as 5 characters or a single one?
It seems that Google counts it as a single character and SEOmoz PRO counts it as 5 characters.

Why do pages with canonical urls show in my report as a "Duplicate Page Title"?
eg:
Page One
<title>Page one</title>
No canonical urlPage Two
<title>Page one</title>Page two is counted as being a page with a duplicate page title.
Shouldn't it be excluded?
