Hi guys, I've been handed a client who needs some seo work. I've tweaked one of their pages to focus on a chosen keywords about 4 months back but still the site is not even visible using the new Domain Analysis tool from moz and it still won't rank at all for the keywords.

Am I missing something here? Is there something blocking the SERP from listing the website? I've ran a site: search on Google and it returns 283 results on the website.

It's puzzling me as there clearly is something stopping it from being ranked. The domain name in question is:

Hi, I have a wordpress website that has articles/news posts witch contain imagery. I've noticed that in the Media Library, when you upload an image to a blog post it generates a new permalink ...article-name/article-image-01.jpg

I have Yoast SEO plugin and have the option to set a canonical URL for this image. Should I point it back to the actual article?

Hi, I'm unsure of where I should be putting the following code for one of my Wordpress websites so that they redirect all HTTP requests to HTTPS.

Thanks James. My issue is that I need to keep the current site (Opencart) rolling whilst I build the new one in the background (Wordpress).

If I install Wordpress on the current root folder where the current website is, it files will conflict and I'll be in a right mess.

What is the best way forward then? I have a root folder - then inside that root folder are tonnes of OpenCart files for the current website.

Do I just create a new folder in the root, call it v2 and install a Wordpress site there? Then have the domain name point to that new folder? Obviously keeping all urls in tact and 301 redirecting any unused previous urls.

Yes this will be exactly the same structure - just in a new folder on the same server

Hi, ok so I have a pretty big site that is located on my sever /root/current-folder/. I want to rebuild the site completely as it's using software that is out of date and not our main focus anymore (OpenCart).

We want to move to a Wordpress platform, but want to have as little impact on the SEO as possible.

Our current strategy is:

• List all URLs/Titles/Meta indexed with Google on current site
• Create new folder on the server /root/new-folder/

My question is... if I move to a new folder on the server (same TLD) and then re-route the TLD to go to this new folder, will there be more of an impact on SEO that if I start a fresh in the current folder?

Hi, I have a large artificial grass website with many franchise location landing pages. At the moment i have most of the landing page URLs like this www.domainname.com/uk/city/

My TLD does not contain the keyword "artificial grass" so should I follow the location with the keywords /city-artificial-grass/ or is Google pretty savvy these days and will it know that I am an artificial grass company?

I'm after the best recommendations for this if possible.

Hi Forum, this has me baffled. I'm an experienced SEOer and have many sites ranking well for their clients but this one has me completely demented.

I work for Easigrass.com and we used to rank on page one for the key term "artificial grass". Now we're on page 3 and this has all happened since we launched the new (Better) site in February 2016.

We have better content, better seo, better social media and better linking than all of the major competitor sites but we still seem to be falling down the ranks. I don't know if its me just trying too hard and missing simple things but I cant see if we're being penalized or not.

For searches performed in the UK we're currently 22nd (we used to be 5th!) Our competitors are;

artificial-grass.com
expressgrass.com
artificialgrass-direct.com
artificiallawn.co.uk

The one area that keeps popping up is potentially keyword stuffing but that can't be the only problem. We must be getting penalised somewhere!

Hi Chris, the dropdown for Artificial Grass will cover other items such as The Benefits, How To Lay Artificial Grass, The Range (this is where the products will move to) and then other items relating to the main heading "Artificial Grass".

I agree that moving users over to one main domain.com will be a huge hassle so won't look into that

Do you think that our current UAE (Dubai) domain might lose DA when the website is launched on the main.com site? At the moment the UAE is hosted on a different server and has a completely different look. We're about to finish the new UAE site (easigrass.com/ae/) and will be redirecting the UAE domain to easigrass.com/ae/

The above is a great point, especially for people who don't understand our products. They are actually product names for each type of artificial grass that we offer.

I am the main decision maker and am also swaying more to the one domain with subfolders option. The only problem I see at the moment is that of the current domain names that are active. Their email addresses are easigrass.com, easigrass.dk and easigrass.ae

You can see the three above examples here;

www.easigrass.com/ae/

As you can see they're all very similar and I think you still feel that you are on the same website. Again my only issue is the worry of current email addresses and redirecting the TLDs to the subdirectory.

Thanks for the good advice also on the overuse of keywords, I think I've been an eager beaver with those!!

Ok thanks. The position we are in now is this;

easigrass.com has a growing international network. They have resources all over the world as there is on the ground office locations with teams. What I do from HQ is have their local version of the company site created for them and added to a subdirectory.

So far we have UK (easigrass.com main site), Denmark (about to launch), UAE (about to launch), Netherlands (Near completion) and Ireland (Near completion).

The IT squad has already bought the domain names for each international site. The only active international site is the UAE which currently sits at www.easigrass.ae and has a DA of 19.

I'm in charge of the global presence of Easigrass and I'm trying to emulate what a great website in the USA have done - www.rotorooter.com They have a similar network of cities and they also work in Canada.

I won't be handling any of the international sites SEO, only the UK market. They will have their own team for his.

Does moving the websites to their own local server now seem more of a sensible idea now that you know this?

I think our main goal really is to have the .com site as strong as possible, so do you think we should just redirect all international domains like .dk to their folder on the main .com site and have it show up as mycompany.com/dk/ instead of trying to show it as mycompany.dk?

The other option i guess is that we move the site from the subdirectory over to it's own hosting within that Denmark location so it can stand on it's own two feet.

Hi, we have a large international network. Our main website sits on .com domain and is used by the UK market. We have an international site in a subdirectory .com/dk/ for Denmark for example.

We have also purchased the domain name www.ourcompany.dk/.

Should we be forwarding the domain name (www.ourcompany.dk/) to point to the subdirectory www.ourcomany.com.dk/ so in the browser it shows up as www.ourcompany.dk or should we be displaying it as www.ourcompany.com/dk/?

Are there any pros and cons to this method? Which one is best and are there any benefits in SEO. Ideally we want the .com domain name to have the best domain authority so would this impact it in any way?

Any tips would be great.

Hi, thanks Verb. I've just managed to get our details for the Google account so will be optimising that very soon. We are hopefully going to be collecting reviews asap. Our old site used to be terrible and used to use subdomains for each local franchisee so I redesigned it and changed them to sub folders. Now we're getting way more traffic but our ranking seems to be slipping. I have some content lined up to be released soon which will cover in depth the keyword artificial grass. im hoping that is going to lift us back up.

My site Easigrass.com had been ranking well but recently it's started to fall in the ranks. I don't know why but I've fallen 4 places on the last 2 months for the keyword 'artificial grass'.

anyone willing to take a look and throw me there thoughts?
