We are working on catching up with some competition, who has done a much better job over the last few years with content creation. We normally publish 1 article a day but are looking at scaling that up to 3 to 4 articles a day so we can get our content out there to compete with the other websites, in keyword space we currently aren't in. Is there a negative impact on publishing too much content at once?

Besides the probable inability to market all of it, I don't see any issues since we will be getting our articles indexed and out there for Google to start building value on them. However, some team members are apprehensive about doing too much at once.

We are having some trouble passing along referral data to our linked websites. We are an advertising platform that counts on our clients seeing our traffic in analytics. We recently switched to HTTPS and implemented the meta referral <always>however, we are still experiencing issues with clients not seeing our referral traffic. Are there other ways to make a full-proof fix so they will always see us as a referral? I know the referral tag should help but it isn't supported by all browsers. </always>

Also, would there be an issue if we have our site (https) linked to their http site that redirects to https? Even with the referral tag, we are seeing issues.

I feel so lucky that our actual transition to https went fine but now with all this referral traffic on clients analytics, I am concerned we are losing the credit we should get for the traffic to their site.

Hi, I am wondering if anyone can send me in the right direction on a system suggestion.

We have currently grown out amount of content pieces on our website and our manual checking if the links in the content pieces are still 200 status is becoming extremely time consuming. Does anyone have a recommendation of a system that will crawl your pages and check both the internal and external links within the content for a status code (404,200,etc)? Preferably something server side so it can just run on a schedule but really anything would be fine.

I have tried things like Screaming frog, etc and it just doesn't seem to be the right tool.

When looking through my old research on Meta's came across this article on Search Engine Land where Matt Cutt's stated...

"In fact, Matt said for his own blog, he doesn’t bother to make meta descriptions for his own site. Recently, I have seen Google continuously play around with my metas, pulling from some really weird places on the page, discrediting the meta that I have there..and more-or-less really f them up..

Does the community think that maybe what Matt said in 2013 still holds weight and we are just wasting time with metas since Google does what they want in that space anyways?

Hi Marie! Thank you so much for your reply and I think what you have outlined makes perfect sense! We have never engaged in shady link building but didn't want to just overlook the fact that unnatural links can be built even without directly engaging in blackhat stuff! Since it has been 12 months (more or less), I will go ahead with an audit and make sure we are still on the right track!

So I am wondering, how often should one go through and do a link audit? The last time that I really went through a link audit was 8-12 months ago (actually, looking at my disavow upload it was Jan 2015). Is it time that I do another full scale audit of my backlinks?

Hi Moz'ers!

I am looking for some help and possibly a referral. My organization has a massive newsletter, 180k subscribers but the performance of the newsletter has been decreasing over the past couple of years with a really poor CTR. I am looking for someone to help optimize and provide recommendation on how we can better the newsletter performance again.

We are in the international education and travel business, primary audience is college students within the US/UK/AUS.

If anyone has a recommendation of an agency or consultant specializing in newsletters optimization, that would be amaze-balls!

Thanks for the feedback! We are confident that there isn't anything 'black hat-ty' going on with our website; just lots of issues that have been heightened because of the updates this past year or two with no real movement from management to take action.

I was advised by our SEO consultant that we should submit a reconsideration because we have made a quite a few changes but still seem to have no impact, even thought, for instance, we have added over 250 articles to our main directory pages.

I guess I have to have a think on this, it seems from the few comments here, that we don't really have anything to gain, just opening ourselves up to Google's finer comb..

We haven't been manually penalized by Google yet but we have had our fair share of things needing to be fixed; malware, bad links, lack/if no content, lack-luster UX, and issues with sitemaps & redirects.

Should we still submit a reconsideration even though we haven't had a direct penalty? Does hurt us to send it?
