Social shares, likes, retweets and comments do play a contribution to a site's authority.
They are not classed as an inbound link, but search engines do use social signals as an indication that your content is well supported, liked and obviously worth sharing.
Hope that helps.
You need to make sure you don't duplicate content as search engines can dedicate it and it will defeat your efforts.
Repurpose the article so it's different.
I am in the process of updating my website where all the URLs of my individual blog pages are changing.
I have, in the past, done a lot of link sharing on Facebook, Linkedin and Twitter of my individual blog posts, but now on the new site my links will be different. Therefore, when I launch the new site anyone clicking on my previous tweets or facebook shares will get a broken link.
Is there a tool I can use that identifies all the links on social media sites?
Opensite Explorer doesn't show these - unless I am missing something?
Any tips on how to overcome this would be very useful.
thanks
Check you have checked Exact Matches when you search as this could bring up different results entirely.
If you have, and they are still bringing up same results, I suggest searching for them in Google to see which phrase has the most results. The more results, usually means more searched for/more competitive.
I would use both KW if in doubt.
Hi
I want to gather a list of sites that are linking to individual blog items. Is there a way of gathering this data easily in Open Site Explorer? I've tried putting in the url/blog domain in the search box, and this just brings up those sites that link to the blog home page. I want to see all the inbound links that link to ALL subdomains within a particular URL.
Any help appreciated.
thanks
I want to find out what keywords a site is ranking for.
In other words, I want to find out how Google is currently seeing a site.
I've used Google KW tool - not very accurate when you simply type in the URL.
Is there anything in SEOMoz I can use? New to this. thanks
