In dealing with Panda do you think it is a good idea to put all refinements for category pages in the robots.txt file? We already have a lot as noindex, follow but I am wondering if it would be better to address from a crawl perspective as the pages are probably thin duplicate content to Google.

RE: Panda 4.0 Suggestions
THanks for all of the answers, does anyone have recommendations for good companies that do consulting for Panda related issues?

RE: Panda 4.0 Suggestions
Thanks for the answer, that is kinda what I figured too. I know I have to re write the content in order to be more competitive but I assumed there has to be something else that is effecting me as well.

Panda 4.0 Suggestions
My site was hit pretty negatively by Panda 4.0 and I am at a loss for the best way to address it. I have read like every article that I can and I know there is some duplicate manufacturer product descriptions but I don't hear many other ecoms complaining about Panda so I figure it must be something else. Also, the pages that seem most negatively affected are category and product list pages. Any help or suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks!

RE: SEO site Review
THanks! Any idea of smaller companies that can just preform the initial review? Or is everything like taking on new clients as I am not as interested in that.

SEO Checklist for eCommerce?
Over the past week or so, my eCommerce site has experienced a large drop in organic traffic from Google.I have used analytics to determine that the pages that have seen the biggest losses in traffic are product pages.
I know there are so many seo checklists/site audit checklists out there recommending different things, but does anyone have a good checklist (or link to a good checklist) that would fit our situation best?
Thank you!

Help Crawl friendliness for large site
After watching Rand's video I am trying to think of the best way to make my large site more crawl friendly.
Background
I have a large site with over 100k product skus and so when you get to a particular page of products there are tons of different refinements and options that help you sort the products. Most of these are noindex followed, but I was wondering if I should be nofollowing the internal links as well in order to keep bots out of those pages and going to the pages that I want them to go too. Is this a good way to handle it?
Also, does anyone have good recommendations of links to posts that deal with helping the crawl friendliness of a large site?
Thanks!

Has anyone used Adroll (Facebook retargeting)with any success?
Hello! I am wondering if anyone out there has had a good experience with Adroll. I set up a campaign a couple months ago, but have yet to see any return on my investment. I'm now considering stopping this service because it seems to not be living up to its hype.
What has your experience in using this service?

RE: Drop in traffic after redesign
Yes, the drops were in organic search.
We kept the URLs the same as the previous version of the site to avoid any problems, and no existing content was removed.

Drop in traffic after redesign
Is it common for a site to see slight traffic drops after a site redesign (containing cleaner code, more usability and basically just being more helpful for the end user)? A new site of ours went live last Wednesday and has experienced a drop in traffic.
If you have seen this in your own site, how did you recover? And how long did the recovery take?

Uptick in not tracked conversions / anyone have a list of things that google analytics will not track
There seems to have been an uptick in users on our site not being tracked in Google Analytics cause I see a lot more un-tracked revenue in the last 6 months then I used to. I know analytics is still working as it has been tracking a normal amount of visits but I assumed there might be a reason less would be actually showing up in analytics (mabye a change is what is being reported as organic).
I know a lot of stuff goes into "not provided" such as logged in search and stuff like that but is there a list of all of the ones that go into not provided and all that just do not get tracked (javascript not enabled, iOS?).
If it could be something else as well let me know. Thanks for the help!

Speed benefits from loading images from a subdomain
I have read that loading images from a subdomain of your site instead of the main domain will give you speed benefits on load time. Has anyone actually seen that to be the case? Thanks!

Thoughts on Nofollow My Account / Shopping Cart Pages on an eCommerce Website
I recently noticed most of my competitors (eCommerce sites) have linked to pages within their sites that do not always contain product information (my account, shopping cart, etc) using rel="nofollow".
My site does not currently do this.
Are there any advantages to using rel="nofollow" on similar pages on our site? Any disadvantages?

Duplicate tracking of Affiliate and Organic orders
I started diving into the over lap between Organic and affiliate orders and can see that on average about 10% of my organic orders get tracked as both affiliate and organic (meaning i am paying affiliate commissions on them). I want to be able to better account for the different types of order and where they are coming from.
My question is simply if anyone has any ideas as to how better to figure out if those orders should be canceled on the affiliate end or if there is a better way in analytics to see where the order is actually getting attributed to through some type of goal or advanced set up or something (the download of orders from organic that I compared to the affiliate ones was taken from Ecommerce > Transactions > Medium (Organic) then I compared that to the order numbers from the affiliate company I am using).
Hope this makes sense and thanks for any information that can help with this!

Difference between site: search and Total Indexed in Google Webmaster Tools.
This morning I did a search on Google for my site using the site: operator. I noticed that the number of results returned was significantly different than the "Total indexed" in Google Webmaster Tools. What is the difference and is it normal to have two very different numbers here?

Bigfoot Update tips
I have been seeing some ranking and traffic drops on sites I monitor corresponding with the update Dr Pete wrote about with less domain diversity in SERPs (http://www.seomoz.org/blog/the-bigfoot-update-aka-dr-pete-goes-crazy).
Does anyone have any practical advice as to dealing with this type of update. It seems like a lot of relying on Google to change the way the domain diversity falls and obviously trying to turn your site into more of the "big brand" that Google is favoring with updates like this.
Anyways, would love to hear what people think. Thanks!

Does Google Bot accept Cookies
I am working with a per page results refinement that stores a cookie on the users computer and then keeps that same per page as the user goes around the site. I was just wondering if that was true for Google bot or Bing bot as well. Will they keep the cookie or would they not be able to accept it. I just want to know as I dont want different urls created if they can keep the cookie.
Thanks!

Dynamic URLs via Refinements
What is the best way to handle large product pages with many different refinement possibilities. Ex. hard drive - 40 gigs - black case etc. All of these refinements add to the length of the url and potentially create crawling issues as the url is to dynamic.
I have seen people canonical all refinements and pages to the main cat page, I have seen others no follow certain refinements. Also in the SEOmoz crawling report it tells me that over two parameters is bad.
What is the best way to handle this?
Thanks

Having some weird crawl issues in Google Webmaster Tools
I am having a large amount of errors in the not found section that are linked to old urls that haven't been used for 4 years. Some of the ulrs being linked to are not even in the structure that we used to use for urls. Never the less Google is saying they are now 404ing and there are hundreds of them. I know the best way to attack this is to 301 them, but I was wondering why all of these errors would be popping up. I cant find anything in the google index searching for the link in "" and in webmaster tools it shows unavailable as where these are being linked to from.
Any help would be awesome!

Track Individual Organic Orders In Google Analytics
I was wondering if there is a way to track information about the individual order in google analytics. Currently I can see all of the organic traffic, rev, transactions, etc, but I would like to be able to know what those individual order numbers are, as well as be able to place test orders to see if organic tracking is correctly working.
Does anyone know of a good blog walkthrough for this, or have any suggestions?
Thanks (again individual organic order data not all data from a specific search engine or keyword).

RE: How to handle Meta Tags on Pagination... page 2,3,4....
I ran into this same problem a little while ago.
First off if you have meta no index on them or block with robots.txt then it shouldn't be a big deal if they have duplicate metas or titles, but if you don't and Google simply hasn't indexed them then fixing it could be helpful. For this I have always tried to go by the rule of creating unique metas and titles in all situations. What I did was programatically have the page number auto added to the title at the end and the same with the meta.
Ex.
Title
Blue Widgets Page 2
Meta
Blue widgets are the best, buy them from us. Page 2
While this isnt exactly super helpful to the user it doesnt hurt either, and atleast it will help clear up duplicate meta and duplicate title problems which if you have on the Seomoz reports then you for sure have them in Google WMTs errors as well.
Hope this helps

Canonical on ecommerce pages
I have seen some competitors using the nofollow tag as well as canonical on all refinements and sorts on their ecommerce pages. Example being if you went to their hard drive category page and refined by 500gb hard drives then that page would have a canonical element to send it back to hard drives page without the refinement. I see how this could be good for control indexation and the amount pages Google crawls, but do you see problems in using the canonical tag this way?
Also I have seen competitors have category page descriptions (describing what that type of product is) on all pagenation and refinements (the exact same block of text on all of the pages). Would this be a duplicate content problem or is it not that big of a deal since the content is only on their site so they are only competiting with themselves.
Thanks for your help

What are some good ways to define yourself as a store to Goolge?

OK thank you both for your responses! I really appriciate the help!

RE: Canonical on ecommerce site
Thanks for the response. I do not have any duplicate problems right now, but am looking into adding the canonical tag because it is required with things like rich snippets (via feed instead of code). So I felt if I had it on all product and cat pages then that way I could solve the problem of the having affiliate coded links attached going to the page as well.
Example.
www.widget.com/product?utm_medium=referral
is the same as
so if the canonical tag was on www.widget.com/product then it would automatically canonicalize the www.widget.com/product?utm_medium=referral entrance.
Is that true or is my thinking off?
Thanks!

Canonical on ecommerce site
I have read tons of guides about canonical implementaiton but still am confused about how I should best use it. On my site with tens of thousands of urls and thousands of afiiliates and shopping networks sending traffic, is it smart to simply add the tag to every page and redirect to the same url. In doing this would that solve the problem of a single page having many different entrances with different tracking codes? Is there a better way to handle this? Also is there any potential problems with rolling out the tag to all pages if they are simply refrencing themselves in the tag?
Thanks in advance.
