Dear EGOL,
is this speculation, did you have a real look at the site, the metrics? Would you please tell me, why you think that?
Kind regards
Michael
Hi,
all contents are 100% unique and self-made by me personally. This can not be the reason.
Other ideas?
Dear SeoMozers,
My website www.buy-hosting.net ist around for about 6 months. It performed quiet well the first months and for the main keyword "Buy Hosting" it went continously better, until #7 in SERPS of Google. Then, some days ago, it suddenly disappeared and traffic went down to nearly zero. It is not even in the Top 100 for "buy hosting" anymore.
Can anyone please advice me, what could be the reason for that and what I could do about it? I'am desperate, beacuse I worked about 8 months nearly 100% of my time on that project...
Thank you and kind regards
Thank you,
I thought about starting with directory links and footer links in really useful forum advice about hosting topics, I give to people. Are these "white hat"? What other link sources/tecniques would you suggest in the special case of my site?
Thank you and kind regards
Dear Mozers,
I start promoting my website www.buy-hosting.net on a daily basis now. I would like to know, how many links would you seed per day. As far as I understood, it is important to stay constant in the number of links to seed every day. But isn't there a danger of going to the sandbox, if the number is to high? The domain has no ibound links yet and although it is 2 years old was only parked until now.
Thank you for your advice and kind regards
TImon Michael
Hi Keri,
that's an interesting idea. I thought about it: Right now, I don't feel ready to write a post like that. I'll keep it in mind though: If I have to move a site again I will prepare it better, do more detailed monitoring and if that works, I'll have material to write a post that's worth reading
Thank you!
Timon
Hi Keri,
now that was a helpful answer! No, the old site wasn't verified. The new one will be. During this move I learned a lot ... Next time I have to move a site I will follow the procedure outlined on the page you posted.
Thank you!
Timon
Hey Keri,
thank you for asking!
Yes, it did recover. For a couple of days it was on place 8, i.e. almost as good as before.
Then, after some minor changes on site, it dropped slightly (place 13 now). I'm sure it will recover from that, too. What I learned form this whole experiences is that google reacts quickly, either way. Therefore I'll be much more patient during future drops following onsite changes
Cheers,
Timon
Thank you Mike,
I did the same research and agree with you. There are other keywords with way higher search volumes. However, it is very easy and fast to land for "Buy Hosting" and the coversion rates for this combination are super high, since people really want to buy NOW (otherwise, they would search compare hosting or something else).
As soon as I got to #1-#3 and cash starts flowing, I will take that money and tackle higher-volume terms. It's a step-by-step strategy.
My guess was to start with 10 links per day. I understand that you say, it is important to have a constant growth, and that this matters for not to be percieved as spammy.
I will check out MajesticSEO to see the amount of links other add.
Thank you a lot, I appreciate your opinion.
Kind regards
Dear Mike,
thank you.
My target keyword combination is indeed "Buy Hosting", since to go for "Hosting" would be way to hard. My brand is also "Buy-Hosting.net".
The question is: If I combine the exact keyword % with the exact brand %, then I get 27% in your example. What I would like to know is, if that will become dangerously close to be seen as spam?
How many links would you aquire per day with an all new site?
Thank you for your input. I think this is a question, that many SEOs ask themselves.
Kind regards
Dear folks,
I will start link building for my all new site www.buy-hosting.net and would greatly appreciate your opinion about some questions:
1.) How many links would you in my place seed per day? I plan to start with directory links and sincere, useful contributions in blogs and forums, with my URL in the signiture.
2.) Natural anchor text distribution:
My brand Buy-Hosting.net ist the same as my main targeted keywords "Buy Hosting". However, I also want to have a natural looking link profile, so I would seed links like "Click here" or "Windows Hosting" or "Webhosting" as well.
How would you distribute die Anchor Text Precentage ?
E.g. (60% Buy Hosting - 10% Windows Hosting - 10% Click here - 10% Joomla Hosting - 10% Hosting Reviews)? Does that make sense or is that already spammy?
3.) How many No-Follow links would you seed (in %)?
4.) How many links (in %) would you seed to subpages, instead of the main page?
Are there larger margins for Keywords, that eqal the Domain/Brand Name, without being conted as spam? Is there a good article about the natural distribution of anchor texts?
Your input is greatly appreciated and thoroughly considered.
Thank you and kind regards
Hi Damien,
thank you! I hope what you wrote applies in this case, too. I do not yet have the experience to find this normal. If there is, in fact, no big screw up to be found and it just takes time to recover, I'll give it time.Knowing it's normal definetly makes me feel better.
Thank you!
Timon
Hi Lewis,
I have the site crawled by seomoz and checked out the results. There a a few minor things to sort out (i.e. too long urls in old blog postings etc.), but non of them are new.
I would have expected a dip during the transition, as you wrote. But first the opposite happened (good placement, place 7, first page), followed by a huge dro (place 40, i.e. last spot on 4th page).
Is such a big drop normal? Should I just wait? Or am I still missing some big mistake here??
Thank you!
Timon
Hi Damien,
yes I did. In fact, I kept the URL structre and 301 redirected all pages. Checked that redirections work, too.
Hi,
my new site http://www.ie-mac.com/ just dropped 33 places from place 7 to place 40 on goolge.com , for the two word combo: ie mac
Did I screw up? How?
Background Info:
1 Two weeks ago I moved my whole site from my old domain http://ie4mac.com/ to http://www.ie-mac.com/ with the goal of obtaining a good ranking for the keyword combo: ie mac. Apparantly tis worked- The site showed up on place 7.
2. I changed the design of the site and put the video on the front page. Good so far, still place 7, but: The text that google was showing was half the ALT-Tag of the Video first-slide image and the other half was our trademark disclaimer.
3. I changed the ALT tag and the disclaimer to give users a more inviting text on google. THis worked, google now shows the text as intended, but: For the desired combo: ie mac the site dropped to palce 40!!
My best guesses at this point:
1. I'm using wordpress as a CMS and the all-in-one-seo-pack plugin to set custom titles etc., and the google XML sitemap plugin to buid an XML sitemap and notify google. During the couple of days, I made a lot of chnages to the site. Could be that the plugin pinged google a lot of times. Could this be part of the problem?
2. The site is hosted at http://www.ixwebhosting.com/ , because they give users dedicated IPs and a good price. However, the loadlevel on the server I'm on is always very high (10 - 20). I'm using a CDN for images and a caching plugin so the site loads in less than 2 seconds according to http://tools.pingdom.com/ . Unless the cache is empty, then it's 9 seconds. This is not great, but it's also no new, so:
What could have caused the sudden drop from 7 to 40??
Thank you and kind regards
Thank you Andy, I feel it was a good change as you say. I do not intend to spam with that site at all. In fact, I worked on it now for 5 months, programming, writing honest reviews, ect. The idea "I make everyone know that it's all about hosting" was overdone by me.
Kind regards
Dear Andy,
I changed the bottom links and the links on the left. If you see anything else, that could be helpful, I will greatly appreciate your opinion.
Kind regards
Thank you,
I will work on that and post here in 2 hours or so again.
Kind regards
Thank you Andy, your input is greatly appreciated.
Do you think, it would be enough to but away the links at the bottom completely and leave the links on the left like "Buy Joomla hosting", or would you also change these to only "Joomla". I mean, there is no "Joomla" behind the link, isn't that a wrong description?
Thanks
Dear Andy,
you write: "Before even looking at link building, I would take some time to sort your site out as it is a huge link fest in there!"
I don't really understand, what you mean with that. Could you please specify your comment or tell it in other words? What exactly would you do about my site and why?
Thank you
Hi TraxNYC,
Thank you for the links.
some of these domains are registered to the same person, most others are not. They are only at the same dedicated server on the same IP address.
Hi folks,
This is my first posting, so please be nice with me
I have completed an all-new website (www.buy-hosting.net) , however the domain is bought and already exists since 2 years, but has no inbound links though. Now I start building links.
I have some clients of my web design business, I could bring in links to my new site on their sites from different domains, some established and years old. However, they all are hosted at the same IP address. Is it a good idea for link diversity to post links on their site to my new one? I remember a thing, that only 1 link will be counted, originating from the same IP address. Is this worth the work of asking clients, posting links, etc.? Or is it even dangerous to my new site?
Also, any other ideas about how to start link building are welcome. Is there a comprahensive list, something like a "startes guide with practical ideas" to link building?
Thank you and kind regards
