Consider wordpress if the site is going to be substantial because it's a widely used CMS so anyone can hop in and knows how to use it.

If it's a small simple site and a CMS is not needed you can download a free template, there are tons of free template sites on the web. Remove any sponsored links in the footer if you're using one of those though.

If it's showing as organic traffic then it's people clicking on those links not links on your site from hacking. You would also see your site disappear from the serps and/or get the message that says "this website may harm your computer". But check your source code just to make sure the site is clean and look in WMT under MALWARE to see if there is any malware on your site.

Look at your external links and see what is going on asap, this can knock your site out.

This is new Google, treating subdomains like part of your site, really they are - just separated by a dot instead of a slash. now if they are showing results from one country in another countries google, that's an issue but geo targeting subdomains in WMT will take care of that.

Google is more and more treating subdomains like part of the site, this is one example of how. You can demote the sitelinks. If you have a german version for example you can geo target that subdomain for germany results.

The reason why would be for multiple 1st page positions in the serps for the same keyword phrases. Most sites are not lucky enough to get rewarded with host crowding positions (your same domain ranking multiple times on the first page) but if you have microsites that you are able to get ranked now you have several first page positions.

well video sitemaps help you rank for google video searches, and image sitemaps help you get indexed for google image searches. but for audio you have google play which is a paid mp3 model. so you can't search Google for mp3 files right? What information would be included in the sitemap?
