Hi Rand, Link explorer is a great improvement! I can already see the index is larger, and the "Linking Domains by DA" is really helpful (I previously had to make this graph myself when comparing domains).

One additional thing which I would find helpful would be if it would be possible to display anchor text in a pie chart (like majestic).

If you 301 redirect one version of the url to the other (whichever version matches the rest of your urls), then it should solve this duplicate content issue.

In my experience it can take way longer than 3 weeks. If it's correct (as the testing tool says it is) then it will show up eventually.

Hi there - The simplest thing to do is to:

1. choose a url variant (either with or without /) and apply it consistently across the site.

2. say you choose the "without /" version. Redirect all "with /" versions to the without version.

3. make sure the rel=canonical of each page points to the variant you choose (either the with or without traling slash variant).

4. when linking to a page on your site (from a banner for example) try to link to the variant you choose, otherwise Googlebot has to follow a url redirect unnecessarily, which is an inefficient use of your crawl budget.

Can you personalise the content to each location? For example list UK customer case studies on the UK site. This will provide a more personalised experience for the user, and may also reduce the risk duplicate content.

If the identical content does not need to be personalised (like the terms and conditions page for example), then you could just rel=canonical the identical pages 1 one page.

Launch a green initiative in your business, and then tell news sites about it. Environmental initiates make great news stories.

As long as the content is bringing you traffic and conversions, keep the content online. Maybe you could place a popup on the old content to explain to people that you have rebranded, just so they don't get confused.

Interesting question. I have some experience of ranking for meetup/event based keywords, and I have found that (based on exact match PPC bidding) K+L does get more traffic than the other way round. However, when it comes to organic results, the order of K+L or L+K on your page doesn't seem to limit that page's ability to rank for K+L (or K in L).

Is it possible to say the exact keyword combination you are targeting?

If you are trying to target two different locations then try to personalise the content for each location. Maybe stats on which phone model is most popular in each place.

If the sub domains will be exact copies, then rel=canonical one to the other.

I agree with Thomas - if you don't 301 redirect the old domain then your new domain will likely have very few backlinks, and it will take some time for the new one to rank.

If you need to keep the old domain, is it worth just keeping all content on the old domain?

I think I would do the same as Donald. However, keep an eye on which page ranks for the sub category keyword.

By making the sub category a H2, you are saying (as an example) "red widget" is an important keyword within the main category page "car widgets". So theoretically the main category page could start ranking for "red widget", which is not ideal as really you want the sub-category page to rank for the term "red widget" (as this page is actually about "red widgets").

If the "car widgets" page starts to rank for "red widgets" instead of your "red widgets" page, consider changing the h2 to normal text.

If page A and page B have different structured data, and there is a canonical from page B to page A, then theoretically only structured data on page A will be used. So if possible, include the structured data from page B on page A.

To confirm, sub-domain A has been indexed for a number of years and has gained a high number of backlinks in that time? However now you are now no-indexing subdomain A, 301 redirecting A to B, and then also no-indexing subdomain B?

AMP will make your page load faster on mobile, which will reduce bounce rate (an important ranking factor) so its definitely worth doing.

Try it out on your post first and see what the AMP version looks like on mobile. Then roll it out to the rest of the site.

In that situation I would try and share the content on social media and in slack communities as much as possible to get the word out. By doing so you increase direct traffic (an important ranking factor) and increase the chances of someone linking to the content externally.

As these pages are just lists of links, they are not particularly valuable to users. So you could simply just apply a meta no-index to the tag pages, which should solve your duplicate content warning.

Google often ignores Meta descriptions and includes their own one based on text on the page. https://moz.com/blog/why-wont-google-use-my-meta-description

In many ways this is a good thing, as the meta description will be created to match the keyword searched for (and therefore makes your result look more attractive).

I would try to focus less on what the competition are doing, and more on your own page. Include the keyword in the title, URL and meta description, and then mention the keyword in the text as many times as it makes sense to do so. Making sure your content flows naturally is more important than keyword density. Additionally, If your content is of a high quality it will help to reduce bounce rate (an important ranking factor).
