I'm afraid that I don't have enough experience with Google Search Console to comment on why those links might be displaying differently than expected. If at any point you need any extra help looking through Open Site Explorer's results, feel free to pop some URLs in here or send them straight over to help@moz.com.

RE: Open Site Explorer Doesn't Discover Link for my website
Hi Will,
Sorry for the confusion with OSE! A key thing to remember about having your links appear in OSE, is that it isn't about your links as much as it is about who links to your links :). OSE's crawl starts from a seed set of trusted sites and crawls links to discover new content in a trickle-down fashion. Therefore, the more sites with high authority that are found linking to you, the more likely your link is to be recognized in the index. This process is also time sensitive so fresher links are prioritized; meaning that consistent updates to your link building will behoove you.
As Andy mentioned, this process can take a good deal of time. There is no finite time frame that can be guaranteed for when your links will appear. The best thing I can encourage is to start building relationships with the sites that link to you (visible from Google Webmaster Tools, as Andy also referenced), as well as with high authority sites that you want to link to you.
Using the bit.ly link is a great way to get your foot in the door, so to speak. The optimal way to do this is by tweeting a link to a linking page (the link for a site that links to you). The other portion is that you need at least one other person to follow that link. Then you should be on your way!
I hope this helps to clarify the process! Feel free to let me know if you have any questions, and have a great day!

RE: "We were unable to validate the following listings with Google or Facebook"
Hi there!
We've got a little blurb about that in the FAQ tab of this page on our Help Hub: https://moz.com/help/guides/local/listingI'll slap it in here as well
Facebook
-
Must be a Facebook local business page. An easy way to see if your page is a place/local business is to see if it has the following: About, Address, Hours, Contact and Reviews.
-
Make sure that your business’s name, address and phone number are listed exactly as you would like them to appear in your Moz Local listing
-
Ensure that the page is publicly accessible (Check with incognito browser to see if the page is available prior to logging into Facebook. Also, possibly give a screenshot of a functionally configured Facebook page’s privacy settings.)
-
Make sure to have at least 2 check-ins to verify the physical location of your business. Not sure what to do here? Head to Facebook's resources to see how to let people check in and how you can check in.
Google+
-
Must be a Google+ local business page. Look for the ‘Review Summary’ section on the page. Some other things to look for: Verified check mark next to the page image, Address, Hours and Reviews. Here's an example of what the page looks like.
-
Make sure that your business’s name, address and phone number are listed exactly as you would like them to appear in your Moz Local listing. Note that service-area businesses (SAB) without their full address listed will run into complications with Moz Local since not all of our partners support SAB's.
-
Must be a listed as a “verified local business". Remember that check mark we mentioned earlier? That's what you need!

RE: Open site explorer
Aloha!
With respect to the 3 different sets of the homepage's metrics, that would be related to how the pages resolve. If the pages resolve separately (like http://www.sassandgrace.co.uk/ and http://sassandgrace.co.uk/), then their page-specific metrics could be different. So, you could consider creating only a single version of your homepage to help condense these values for the future. As far as links showing up in the index are concerned, there could be a couple of reasons why they're not displayed yet. Our index is updated on a roughly monthly basis, so if your site (or the links pointing to it) are newer, then they likely wouldn't yet be included in our index. Another thing to note is that our index is focused on the most authoritative links we can find. So, I'd recommend focusing your linking efforts towards cultivating quality backlinks from prominent pages of authoritative sites, and you'll likely increase your chances of being indexed by Mozscape!

RE: Confused about the link metrics showing up in MOZ & OSE
Hi Maureen,
Thanks for reaching out, and sorry for the confusion! This is a tricky one! All of this information is pulled from the same source; it's just being reported in slightly different ways. This campaign is set up to track the subfolder itelligencegroup.com/uk/, which is totally fine, but is also the source of the confusion :).
In Competitive Metrics, you have the option to toggle between domain and subdomain (http://screencast.com/t/aguINJ3OlFCA). If you switch to subdomain then you'll see that your results realign with the numbers in your Link Analysis section.
Then for OSE, you can see 14 root domains linking to the subfolder itelligencegroup.com/uk/, but if you add that to the 115 linking root domains for intelligencegroup.com you get the full 129! It's just displayed in this way because of the geo-locating redirect associated with the root domain for this site which makes for some funky link reporting.
I hope this helps to clarify the data a little bit! Feel free to let me know if you have any further questions! Thanks, and have a wonderful day!
Cheers,

RE: Is Url-Metrics Historical data available via API?
Hi there!
I'm afraid our API currently doesn't have the capability to grab historical data. So, you would only be able to fetch link data for the current index. Hope this helps to clarify! -
RE: Insider Pages & City Search Update Not Going Through
Hi Chris!
I'm sorry that there hasn't been any update on that listing for Citysearch or Insider Pages! I'm not seeing anything that looks like it would be inhibiting this info from being updated correctly, but they are our newer partners, so perhaps it was related to a complication with their addition to the app.At any rate, I've initiated a re-push for those aggregators, which should act like a local laxative and get this listings moving. If you're still not seeing progress in the next 8 weeks or so, please shoot us an email at help@moz.com so we can get our engineers to investigate further

RE: Are Just Discovered Links Reports Working?
Hi Elizabeth!
As you supposed, this issue is stemming from the fact that our system doesn't include the ".training" TLD. This is a bit of a tricky one because people could theoretically create any TLD imaginable (".cyclops" is one that I've been coveting for a while), but these have to be explicitly defined within our system; there is no catch-all set up to know what is or isn't a TLD unless we specifically declare it within our index. With that being said, I've sent over a request to have it included for the future :). I hope this helps to explain!

RE: Are Yellow Pages links good for SEO
Without having the client's site to be able to check, I'd guess that the reason you're not seeing these links popping up within Open Site Explorer is due to the size of Yellow Pages' site in conjunction with the way that we compile our index.
When we crawl through a site during the indexing process, we limit the number of pages that we'll crawl on a single domain in order to help us sample a broader and more diverse link landscape (or Mozscape, if you will ). There are a few million pages on Yellow Pages' domain, and since we elect to cap out indexing a single domain around ~50,000 pages (I'm uncertain of the exact value), only a relative handful of the most prominent pages on the domain would be included to avoid index saturation. I hope this helps to explain what you're seeing there!

RE: Keyword Difficulty for SERP #14?
Indeed, there is!
On the option window that pops up when requesting a Full SERP Report from the Keyword Difficulty tool, you'll be able to use the bottom box to specify an 11th URL that you'd like to have compared with the first 10 search results (http://www.screencast.com/t/nzpvgpXgQq).

RE: The Moz Spam Score tells me my site has too few backlinks for such a large site. How many links per page would I need to not trigger this filter and stop appearing spammy?
Howdy!
I spoke to one of the folks that worked directly on defining these spam flags, and they said that the calculations in this type of case are a bit too complex to pass along any sort of generalized guideline. So, the best thing that I can recommend would be to check out Rand's video about how to interpret Spam Score: http://moz.com/blog/understanding-and-applying-mozs-spam-score-metric-whiteboard-friday

RE: Moz Weekly Keyword Ranking Received seems inaccurate - Australia
The discrepancy here is that Moz is querying Google in a process that completely strips personalization from the query, as Joe mentioned. This means that it's more representative of a national average for all searchers in the country, but it also means that you may not be able to reproduce these exact SERPs within your browser because your location is factored into your search results :).
If you'd like to check out a bit more info on rank tracking methods, I'd highly recommend this article by Dr. Pete: https://moz.com/blog/comparing-ranktracking-methods-browser-vs-crawler-vs-webmaster-tools

RE: Why RogerBot can't crawl site https://unplag.com
After creating a fresh test campaign for the site, I'm still seeing a 400 response being served to rogerbot from https://unplag.com/. While I'm not able to pinpoint the exact setting that is causing the site to serve that response, I'd recommend checking your server logs to verify the response that is being served.

RE: Suggestion to Improve Moz's Link Data
Hi Trevor!
As it turns out, we do have a cache on our index to help stop valid links from falling out of our view. However, we're not able to guarantee that all links we've previously indexed will be re-indexed within that cache period. So, it can certainly still happen that links will drop out of our index. In general, this helps to promote a stable index, while still preserving freshness and relevance of links that we report on.
As far as metrics like DA and PA go, it's always important to remember that these are relative metrics, rather than absolute. While it always feels good to see them climb higher and higher, a consistent score or even a drop doesn't necessarily mean that there has been no improvement. I'd definitely recommend checking out this post by Rand on ways to consider these metrics: https://moz.com/community/q/da-pa-fluctuations-how-to-interpret-apply-understand-these-ml-based-scores

RE: Duplicate Page Due To Website Display Function
Hi there!
While our crawler doesn't support rel="prev" or "next" tags as a means of resolving duplicate content, we do recognize canonical tags. In this case, it looks like the reason we're reporting these as duplicates is because the canonical tag on http://www.bikecation.co.uk/categories/cycling-climbs/page/2?showall=1 is pointing to http://www.bikecation.co.uk/categories/cycling-climbs/page/2 rather than http://www.bikecation.co.uk/categories/cycling-climbs.I hope this helps!

RE: "403 Forbidden" is they will be displayed in the "API"
Hi there!
While I'm afraid I'm not able to help troubleshoot the code that's generating the call you're having trouble with, perhaps the folks over on our Mozscape Developer Discussion Group would be able to!If you'd like to either drop an example call in here or send a sample call over to help@moz.com, I can certainly help identify what call parameters might be causing the 403 response for that specific call.

RE: URL inaccessible for On Page Grader
Hi there,
Sorry for the trouble, but thanks for reaching out! It looks like that URL's server configuration doesn't contain all of the necessary intermediate certificates. You should be able to request these from your hosting service which will hopefully resolve the issue :). For more information on configuration issues you can check your URL with https://sslcheck.globalsign.com/en_US.
I hope this helps, and have a wonderful day!

RE: Link Tracking
Hi there,
Both Monica and Max have excellent suggestions! Open Site Explorer (OSE) can show you highly valued inbound links! Do keep in mind that we can't index the whole interwebz so OSE is likely not displaying 100% of your backlinks. We start from sites with high domain authority, and crawl downward through links that we determine to have high priority. So I would suggest heading over there to check that out!
If you feel that you really do need a full backlink profile then AHrefs is a popular service for that feature! I hope this helps, and have a wonderful day!

RE: MozBar is displaying different numbers than Moz Pro
Howdy!
Sorry for the conflicting values! We did just release a fresh index update which is available through the MozBar, but the update would have had a delay before being pushed into campaigns. So, if you were checking the campaigns before that update was published, then the MozBar would have been reporting June 9th data while the campaigns were still reporting data from May 4th.With that being said, I took a look through a handful of your campaigns, and everything seems to be matching up as of now. But, if you're still seeing inconsistencies, then please feel free to write in to us at help@moz.com with a specific example

RE: How to add an email contact dedicated to billing
Howdy!
I'm sorry, but our current email system is only able to send all of the email notifications to a single email address. So, the best thing I could recommend would be to set up an email filter to automatically forward a portion of the emails to a separate address. -
RE: How can I get a Moz crawl report of 404 errors on my site
Hi there! Thanks for reaching out!
You can see 404 errors for your own domain in the Crawl Diagnostics section, and you can see broken links which are linking to your site by running a 'Top Pages' report that specifies 4XX HTTP status through Open Site Explorer. However, it sounds like you're looking for the broken links on your site which are linking to 404 errors.
Unfortunately, I don't think there is a quick way to get all of that info in one report. You could run the Open Site Explorer report from above for domains that you know you are linking to, but other than that I don't think there is another tool we have for that. I apologize, but I hope this helps! Have a great day!

RE: Spam score 9/17 and redirect Question
Hi there!
One thing to note is that our link index (including the Spam Score metric) is update on a roughly monthly basis. So, it can definitely take some time before your domain metrics are recalculated. In general, the best advice for any link-related question is almost always to focus on cultivating healthy, relevant and authoritative backlinks to work on your site's backlink profile. Disavowing links can be a beneficial step, depending on the links, but it can also be dangerous to disavow all links to a domain.
If you're making positive changes on your site for the sake of your site and its content, then you'll see your Spam Score work its way down as a side-effect
-
RE: The total link figure in our case has suddenly shot up
Hi there!
While it is rather peculiar for this statistic to have jumped so rapidly, it looks to be stemming from a more extensive indexing of the site's internal links, which you can see here: https://moz.com/researchtools/ose/comparisons?site=www.propchill.comI can't necessarily speak to why all of those internal links were indexed this time around, but I do hope it helps to clarify where those links were being found!
-
RE: MOZ Rank Or MOZ Wrong!?
Howdy!
It looks to me as though this may just be a hiccup within the MozBar plug-in; notice that the bar for DmT is partially filled, but there is no value displayed. So, I'd recommend clearing your cache and cookies, and potentially checking the value in MozBar for Chrome.Checking the value in Open Site Explorer's 'Compare Link Metric' section would also be a good way to see if the value does indeed exist :).
If none of those seem to resolve the issue that you're seeing, then I would recommend writing in to us at help@moz.com with some more specific examples.
-
RE: Is Keyword Difficulty tool algorithm changed ?
As far as I know, our algorithm for keyword difficulty has not been changed in any serious way. However, we did just release a fresh link index update, and since the difficulty is calculated based on a number of different link metrics, the scores that you're seeing could conceivably be differing due to these link metrics having been recalculated.
I'm honestly not sure what KC is, so I can't really speak to that, but perhaps someone else can swoop in and cover me on that one

RE: Does Domain Authority Consider Social Signals?
Hi there!
While I'm not really able to give out the entire recipe for DA, it's my understanding that social signals are not a factor in this metric. Since social signals are not "link metrics", I think it's safe to say that they are not in the DA algorithm based on the blurb that was quoted above :).
-
RE: Crawl Test Takes Long Time
In general, Crawl Tests usually take around 24 hours. Part of the length is related to our current load when the crawl is requested, so you could potentially see a bit of a wait associated with sites of only a few pages.
In this particular case, it's totally our fault. We had a crawler outage, but as you have probably come to realize, all of the crawls have been re-queued and are in the process of completing right now
Cheers!

RE: Unable to update client address in G+/Moz Local
Howdy!
Thanks for reaching out, and sorry for the trouble! Attempting to gain access to the Google+ page in the way that Patrick mentioned would definitely be something that I'd recommend :).
Also, there are a few things that we should be able to check for you if you'd be able to send your account email and listing info over to help@moz.com. It's potentially possible that the listing is validated against Facebook rather than Google+, but our system is encountering a road bump that has stopped it from automatically updating. At any rate, I'd be happy to take a look!

RE: On-Page Grader supporting HTTPS?
Hi Ross!
On-Page Grader should definitely function for https sites, in general. For example, https://moz.com looks to be working just fine.If you're getting that response from On-Page Grader, it's usually related to some sort of blockage. I'd recommend checking through your robots.txt to make sure that rogerbot and dotbot aren't being blocked, that your SSL is all looking good, and that the site isn't blocking Amazon Web Services (AWS).
-
RE: Is there a report that will show Keyword Rank History for the life of an active campaign?
Certainly!
You can request a CSV containing all of your ranking data from the dawn of your campaign by hitting the 'Email Rankings History CSV' button with the 'Keyword Rankings' section of your campaign :). -
RE: Detected duplicate content with canonical applied
Hi there!
It's definitely possible for a page to be correctly flagged as duplicate content while a canonical tag is applied. This typically happens in cases where the pages are being seen as duplicates of each other, but are canonicalized to different pages. If you'd like to see a more specific example of where this is occurring on your site, I'd be happy to talk through it with you through a private message to help@moz.com :). I hope this helps to explain!

RE: Does Moz's keyword tool pull data from your IP address?
Hiya!
With respect to locations for rankings, there are 3 things I wanted to touch on. First, when collecting your rankings, Moz makes no assumptions whatsoever about your physical location. The location information that we use is specified by the campaign settings that you enter, whether that comes in the form of the country-specific search engines that you're tracking within your campaign settings or the locations that you've specifically assigned to keywords for local tracking.
As far as these national keywords go, Moz is querying the search engine in a process that completely strips personalization from the query. This means that it's more representative of a national average for all searchers in the country, but it also means that you may not be able to reproduce these exact SERPs within your browser because your location is factored into your search results.
For local keywords, I can't speak to the exact method that we utilize to represent local searches, but I can say that (at least for Google) we no longer utilize cookies to make location-specific determinations.
I hope this helps to explain!
-
RE: Campaign Update Notification Anomaly and some misc questions re Moz Analytics
Hi Dan!
With respect to the campaign updates, I'm certainly happy to help get that sorted out, but I'm afraid that I'll need a bit more info in order to investigate. Would you be able to send an email to help@moz.com with some background on which campaign you were seeing this for?As far as the On-Page Optimization changes go, I'd say that it has to do with the new grading scale, rather than the crawler missing elements previously. Along with swapping over to a numerical score, the list of factors has changed, as well as the weighting of each factor. So, I believe that the different scores that you're seeing are simply comparing the new rubric to the old rubric.
I'm not totally sure what you're referring to on the topic of on-page opportunities, but any clarification you can provide would be very helpful!
My question submission form looks to be functioning normally, so I'm inclined to think that it could be a browser issue on your side.
-
RE: Where can I see the list of the new backlinks reported?
Hi there!
While our index is rather large, it is by no means inclusive of every link on the web. We're continuously working to increase the scope of our index, which means that you could start to see more links included than before. Also, rather than a sheer volume change in our index, it could be related to the types of sites that we're looking at for a newer index update.Unfortunately, we don't have the ability to report when a link was discovered by the index (other than in 'Just-Discovered Links' as Dmitrii mentioned above). It's certainly something we'd like to be able to accommodate for the future, but those changes would be a ways down the road.
With respect to a percentage increase, I don't believe it's displayed anywhere within the app, but you could find the value for that increase by dividing the new number of links (1130) by the original number of links (1130-875) and then multiplying by 100. I hope this helps!
-
RE: After adding a new page to optimization section it shows up as dashes
Hi there!
You're doing everything right! This just happens to be a bit of clunkiness that occurs between when you add your on-page optimization pairing and your next weekly update. Once the first weekly campaign update rolls through after adding your optimization keyword+URL combo, you should see those values populated as you'd normally expect.I'll definitely relay your feedback about this process, though! I hope this helps to explain!

RE: Link to Moz Pro home 404s, and then I stumbled upon Moz's staging site...
HOW DARE YOU ENTER OUR SECRET STAGING LAIR!
I'm just kidding, that definitely sounds like a major Moz-stake on our side. If you could shoot an email over to help@moz.com with any extra info about how you made it to the staging subdomain, we'll work to get that fixed up right away! As a side note, I really appreciate your discretion on this matter. Thanks!

RE: Moz local is telling me that i am missing a listing from HotFrog yet i have a listing there. How do i get moz to see it or add it manually?
Howdy!
Thanks for reaching out, and sorry for the trouble! Unfortunately, we're not partnered with Hotfrog, so we aren't able to force them to share this information with us.We've checked Hotfrog's API, but if they're not showing that listing information to us, then there's no way for us to display the information within your Moz Local listing. So, the best thing I could recommend would be to contact Hotfrog directly, and ask them to make sure that the listing is fully visible to Moz

RE: DA not working for a domain. Is 1 since June 2015.
Hi there!
I agree that something does look funky here. I've never actually seen a site with a Domain Authority of 1 when we seem to have indexed numerous links for the site. There's actually a fresh index update scheduled to roll out quite soon, so I'm interested to see if the update has any effect on the score, as a number of issues with quality have been addressed. If you're not seeing a change after the next index update, then please shoot us a message at help@moz.com to so we can get in touch with our engineers about this issue. Thanks!
-
RE: RTL languages and Moz tools
I'm afraid that our tools regularly encounter issues with non-Latin characters that I would expect you would end up running into. Concerning RTL languages in general, I don't believe that there are any that features of our tools that make accommodations for the different order used by these languages. So, I wouldn't think Moz would be a great fit for sites in those languages.
Sorry for the inconvenience!
-
RE: Does purchasing a Moz Local listing allow you to report old incorrect addresses?
Hi Tom!
Thanks for reaching out, and sorry for the confusion! The best section for this would be to head over to the 'Duplicates' tab from your main Moz Local Dashboard. From there, you'll be able to us the 'Add alternates' function to list any other names, addresses or phone numbers that we should pull in for you
-
RE: Top Pages Report References URLs from a Different Domain
Hmm that sounds like pretty abnormal behavior to me. Would you be able to give me an example of a domain where you're seeing that happen?
If you'd rather not make it public information, then you could always send a message into help@moz.com as well
-
RE: Local Listing is Paused
Yep, this would definitely be a job for us on the Help Team to get this listing re-validated. Google has made some changes to their API which may have been the reason why we weren't able to view the Google+ page for this business, but it looks like it is currently visible to our system.
I'm passing your info right over to our engineers, and I'll let you know as soon as I receive an update :).

RE: Internal Pages marked as Spam by Moz
Hi there!
Thanks for reaching out! Spam Score is calculated on a subdomain-specific basis, based on the pages that we've observed within that subdomain. So, every page within a single subdomain would display the same Spam Score. Without knowing more about the specific site you're looking at, it's a little tough to say exactly what the best course of action is.I'd definitely encourage you to check out this video from Rand when considering how to evaluate and apply Spam Score within the context of your site: https://moz.com/blog/understanding-and-applying-mozs-spam-score-metric-whiteboard-friday
I hope this helps! Feel free to let me know if you have any further questions or concerns. Have an awesome day!

RE: Compare Metrics in Moz
Howdy!
I'd say the 'Links' section of the Moz Glossary would be a solid place to start.
