Are they all one page per visit? Are they all visiting a different page each time?

It's been several years, but I had something like this happen to me. Had 50+ visits all coming from the same city, all direct traffic, all with a single page per visit. I happened to have another analytics package on the site at the time, and saw that it was the same IP and actually one user visiting 50+ pages. For some reason, GA though they were different people.

If you look at some of the technology reports in GA, you might look to see if they have the exact same browser resolution, flash version, etc. That may help indicate if it's actually one computer that has some settings that are making GA think it is separate visits.

If my mother landed on the site from Google, would she call me and complain about the crap that Google's indexing and why doesn't she get better results. That's one measure. Another would be is this site one you'd feel comfortable putting up on the projector in a meeting and saying that you got a link from them.

What do you mean by bridge sites? Have you cleaned up this hack? If you can give us a few more details, we can help you figure out if this may be contributing to your problem.

Have you received some type of warning from a search engine about your links? Have you tried contacting the sites that own the links yet? If you can give us a little more background on your situation we can help a bit more with a good answer.

Though the link: command is just an approximation. If you have access to Google Webmaster Tools, that will give you a more accurate count, but still not perfect. Also try Open Site Explorer and Bing's Webmaster Tools to get an idea of backlinks.

You might find out how easy it is to undo links you have built if you find out they aren't good links.

I can't speak to extensions, but I would say use caution when just grabbing an email address from a site when you don't read the context around it. My husband and I sell model battleship kits, and on the footer of each page we have our sales@ email for people to contact us. On the "About Us" page we have our individual names and a bit about us. Have you looked through the link building section in the Beginner's Guide to SEO at http://www.seomoz.org/beginners-guide-to-seo/growing-popularity-and-links? There is a lot of good information there.

There is no easy solution where you download a piece of software and increase your rank. You may see rankings increase in the short term, but then likely will need to spend a considerable amount of time removing these links after getting a notice from Google about unnatural links.

Also, review Google's guidelines about content. Under Link schemes, they discuss unnatural links that violate the guidelines (http://support.google.com/webmasters/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=66356). These links include:

Spiderman versus Roger is an interesting thing to ponder. They both do like webs, though of different types. Roger may be a bit too robust when it comes to scaling the side of a building, but he really knows his way around the world wide web.

Just to make sure there's not a technical issue, the page isn't noindexed, or you don't have an images directory blocked in robots.txt, correct?

Actually, Google has not used the meta keywords tag in years, and Bing generally doesn't use it in a favorable manner.

It's probably because a large portion of each page is identical when you look at the source code. There are only a couple of dozen words that are different between the pages, and all of the rest is identical. The crawler can't see images and tell that there are different items on the different pages.

So, take a look at the ad status, not just the keyword status.

I just looked for "needs to earn should be determined by the age of the child." in both Google and Bing, and that phrase shows up in both engines, so your site is indexed. Have you gone into Google Webmaster Tools and looked for any notices?

And now we know that EGOL does not live in NYC, because the major there wouldn't allow you to get serving sizes that big.

I'd start by verifying your site in Bing Webmaster Tools and seeing if they have any messages for you.

Such a script/app is against the facebook terms of service. At https://www.facebook.com/help/210896588933875/ FB states:

Can I know who’s looking at my timeline or how often it’s being viewed?

No, Facebook doesn't let you track who views your timeline or your posts (ex: your photos). Third party apps also can't provide this functionality.

If you come across an app that claims to offer this ability, please report the app.

Did anyone do anything like turn on a monitoring service? Usually they don't trigger javascript, but I did have that happen once. You might look in GA at the network they're using, or see if it's all the exact same version of flash, browser, etc. so it might be one computer doing it all.

One way I use it is for ideas of types of links I might be able to get for my husband's business (selling model RC warships). There are only a couple of competitors for the fiberglass ship hulls in the US, so I look at their backlink profile. Just this evening I was browsing through, and saw that my competitor had a link from a crew website for people who had served on a certain ship, for anyone interested in building a model of that ship.

We don't carry the same hull so we couldn't get a link on that page, but we do have about 35 hulls, so there are opportunities for several links from other sites.

Someone on Twitter had this same issue, and discovered (after much investigating and initial overlooking by the AdWords staff) that their ads were "stuck in eligible status purgatory" and wouldn't run on top unless fully approved. You might look to see the status of your ads and make sure that's OK.
