Hi, ive tried cloudflare before.

Problem is that i am using SSL for some of my pages, so Cloudflare doesn't play nice unless I pay them.

Also, I am using amazon cdn - does that work with cloudflare or is it a bit ott?

Baidu spider is blocked, but it doesn't seem to care!

Baidu Spider hits my UK site every 5 minutes of every day for the past 2 years.

It has no consideration whether a domain exists or not.

I know this because looking at etc/httpd/logs/error_log, i am getting every 5 minutes hits from Baidu spider trying to access a domain which points to my server which no longer exists.

Given that I have absolutely no trade with China, and given that the only spam comments I get on my wordpress blog originate from China, do you think it's a good idea to either do a China country block in my .HTACCESS or block out Baidu spider?

Baidu is consuming bandwidth and is clogging my error_logs!!!

Why is it that Google, Bing, Yahoo etc... can all crawl my site nicely, but Baidu just abuses?

I am developing an ecommerce store and would like some advice on the Category / Product URL structure for SEO purposes.

• Products have many options
• Products belong to a sub-category.
• Sub categories belong to a category

There will be a maximum of 500 products in the database.

1. http://shop.com/{category}/{product_slug}?{product_option} Flattened with query string option

• http://shop.com/apple/iphone-5s?model=32gb&colour=white

2. http://shop.com/{category}/{subcategory}/{product_slug}?{product_option} // Hierarchical with query string option

3. http://shop.com/{category}/{product_slug}/{product_option}

4. http://shop.com/{category}/{subcategory}/{product_slug}/{product_option}

5. http://shop.com/{category}/{product-slug}

• http://shop.com/apple/iphone-5s-32gb-black

Option 5 seems best to me, however I am also worried about duplicate content between pages.

• http://shop.com/apple/iphone-5s-32gb-black
• http://shop.com/apple/iphone-5s-64gb-black
• http://shop.com/apple/iphone-5s-64gb-white

The above 3 examples will all have very similar content. And if I use canonical url tag, which product page would I refer these pages to?

At least with Option 1 I can use the canonical tag to tell search engines that pages with get parameters can point to the non get parameter version.

In addition to Option 5, should I create a http://shop.com/{category}/{subcategory} page? That way Option 5 item canonical tags can point to that page. e.g. http://shop.com/apple/iphone-5s which would contain product summary detail with product options listed on the page?

Am I missing something here or can anybody provide a better solution?

1. the way is is set up to receive facebook page likes / recommendations
2. the way it is set up to receive webpage likes

I have a website and a facebook page.

I have the Facebook Social Plugin on my website which shows my facebook page likes - This is currently at approx 140 likes.

Is there a difference between facebook page likes and webpage likes?

For SEO purposes, should I be concentrating less on the Facebook page and more on building facebook likes for the website?

Are there any guides on this?

What gets people to like a website as opposed to a web-page?
