Look at image attached, it is a screenshot from Google Analytics, it took a hit on July 5, 2012 and since then traffic dropped by 54%.

This site was getting 700 to 800 organic visits per day and on July 5, 2012 dropped to 419 but kept dropping and now the site averages 220 to 300 visits per day.

Yes, that's what I have in mind, maybe I didn't explain it well but that exactly the idea ...I am just not so sure how to 301 redirect the main domain, I will discuss with my programmer the code you provided on your answer.

I am merging 11 real estate community sites into 1 regional site and don't really know what type of redirect should I use for the homepage?, for instance:

www.homepage.com redirect to www.regionalsite.com/community-page

Should I 301 this redirect? If yes, how could I 301 redirect a homepage to an internal page in my new site?

I don't quite understand your question, if you are adding more category pages, you should have more pages instead of less, just make sure to 301 redirect every single old page and you shouldn't have a problem.

I had to do something similar to one of my sites like 3 months ago and I did loose pagerank on some pages but ranking got better so I wouldn't worry much about pagerank.

I'm a little confused about c-blocks, I've been reading about them but I still don't get it.

1. Are these similar to sitewide links?
2. do they have to come from websites that I own and hosted in the same ip?
3. and finally, what's better ...more or less linking c-blocks?
