Half of my landing pages have suddenly been de-indexed without warning.

These have been ranking for over two years! Climbing from the bottom of page two to the top three of page one with fundamental content marketing and healthy real links.

I'm desperately trying to figure out what has gone wrong. They even deindexed my Medford Oregon landing page, then reinstated in and I asked to be re-indexed on search console and deindexed it again.

I've checked screaming frog, and I see no robot issues. There were some wp-media attachments with kind of similar URLs (city name-locksmith) ranking on page four that I found (i thought I set Yoast to redirect all attachment, strange) and I deleted those because I thought that might be the problem.

But they have deindexed even more today! We are a 12 year old company and our livelihood was built on search, which is why we have maintained good ethics (which most locksmiths don't care about) and have done our best to play by Google's rules.

I checked with wp-engine and everything seems to be perfect for our hosting.

Any suggestions would be so greatly appreciated.

So this problem has been going on for months. None of our landing pages track, but all of our blog pages do. I've tried GA plugins, (we are on wordpress) and just now even put the code in the theme header script. Still to no avail.

I just checked right now, and the blog pages have the global GA code, but now I noticed not even the home page has the code!

Could it be something to do with my theme? I tried to pay a guy on upwork to fix but he couldn't fix it either.

So I'm a content creator and halfway SEO for a Locksmith company here in Oregon. As probably a lot of you know, the Locksmith industry is known for being super spammy. This company was no different. In 2009 they had like 50 urls for 5 metros. All ranking on page one or close.

Well, when I came on I helped them clean up this mess and get honest. It's been quite a journey but we have 301'd almost every Url back to their one and only brand domain.

We use wp-engine (whom I love) and we have never had an issue redirecting anything. But last week, we were finally ready to redirect one of their highest ranking domains back to a proper landing page on the main site. Everything looked clean and we were literally ranking number one in that metro.

Then we get this email:

and the next day we just disappeared from all rankings. I called wp-engine, they said they fixed a problem with the cdn the ssl.

I requested reindexing in search console.

Is there anything else I can do? How long should we expect to be out of the game?

I want to first say thank you to anybody that tries to help me with this. I'm not quite sure where to start.

So first I get the message in search console for my locksmith website that it looks like I have some spammy structured data.  I remembered that for one landing page I did have the stars short code on it and it was displaying the stars. Well, I went and looked and they were indeed no longer showing. So I simply deleted the shortcode, but I wanted to do a thorough check of my landing pages, one by one.

Now I have project supremacy on my wordpress site, which I stand by, it's a solid product and I have been able to make my per page schema look really good, zero errors. So I went through each page that had errors on it and fixed them and sent it all back into google for 'reconsideration'.

BUT today (sorry this is getting long)

I look in my search console and I see that ALL of my blog posts have errors on them. Something wrong with the hentry.

As I test one of the posts in structured data tester tool I see 4 errors and 4 warnings. I don't have the author displaying which is not true and some other things. But I have never ever tried to schema any of my blog posts and there is ZERO site wide schema, I already checked. Where is this bad schema living, and could that be the reason for the spammy stuff?

Hey guys.

I love the new update of GA. Looks so clean.

So, of course, I was excited to see how my landing pages were doing. I went to behavior, all content, all pages. And I noticed it's only showing me 19 pages out of the 93 I have indexed. And none of the top ones at all!

Can't find them anywhere in GA! Anyone seen this before?

I believe the more keywords you rank for and the more traffic you get to your site, the higher your authority will be, and the easier it will be to rank for the KW's you want.

I certainly am a team player.

So I am a writer/amateur SEO/outreach guy for my agency.

We have a client that fixes garage doors only in the the city of Portland Oregon.

I wrote him a blog (this is not the real title) Called 5 ways to fix my garage door fast.

It is doing pretty well and getting over a thousand visitors a month. But we all know that people coming to that blog could be from anywhere in the world, and most likely are not going to purchase garage door repair service from my client.

We all know that. And that's why the page has a 98% bounce rate, but an overall good time on page.

My superior sat me down and told me that I have to stop writing content like this, because all the content we write should be location focused.

He said having a high bounce rate like that is actually bad for the site and is not helping at all.

What do you guys think?

It's been three months since my agency has assigned to me the task of completing citations for our clients.

Some of them have Yext powerlistings and some don’t.

So I am going and looking at all the citations my clients don’t have, and without bright local that is pretty time consuming. You really have to know what you are looking for.

It got me curious, I went into my Yext and I wanted to know what exactly does yext give me with these power listings that I cannot get myself, and which of these directories do I really need?

Of course they do some good ones like Mojopages and Citysearch (are people even using those anymore? I sure as hell haven’t even seen someone use either of those).

But over half of those power listings is stuff like this:

What the heck are these stupid sites and why the heck would I ever pay them for a listing?

My point is I need to figure the perfect citation build out process for onboarding new clients and I want every reason to convince my company to leave Yext.

Why do we even need these crappy directories? Even directories like hotfrog and citysearch, what quality are they providing?

I know a lot of your are going to say, “Well your competition has it and you need it to rank in Gmaps.”

But I would rather put my time into getting reviews on the top Ten directories where people actually go!

So when we onboard a client. Maybe it should look like this.

1. Top 25 directories

2. Location specific directories

3. All Web 2.0’s (I can get a fiverr guy to do it for 40 bucks).

4. Boom done with citations now let’s get back to making some good content!
