That looks like it does the job. I was hoping for something within SEOMoz Pro so I don't have to pay for an additional service though!

RE: .htaccess when integrating one website into another
You should be able to achieve what you want by redirecting 404s. You can do this by adding the following to your .htaccess
ErrorDocument 404 /homepage.html
Where homepage.html is the address of your homepage.
What would be better really though is to land them on a an actual 404 page that explains that the page doesn't exist anymore and gives them options of where to go next. Include direct links to the most popular content on the site.

RE: What is the most effective way to migrate an ecommerce site?
You can use Google Webmaster tools to flag up pages that should be de-indexed once they have been 301'd or if they now 404. This should speed up the process and ensure that pages that don't get indexed very often don't hang around.

Viewing links gained over time
Is there a way to see how the number of inbound links has changed over time for a campaign?
It is hard to tell whether links are increasing for a campaign without historical data being stored so trends can be shown

RE: Apostrophes in keywords
This does seem to post a problem for SEO. Obviously on site everything wants to be spelt and punctuated properly, anything else looks amateurish. But when searching a majority of people don't bother with punctuation and are much more likely to just bash in childrens rather than children's, which means that sites who optimise for childrens will be ranked higher then those who punctuate words properly.
I'd give a comparison on how many people use apostrophes when searching but infuriatingly Google Insights doesn't take apostrophes into account.

Apostrophes in keywords
It appears that SEOmoz tools like the On-Page Report Card treat keywords differently if they have apostrophes in.
So for example childrens and children's are treated as different keywords.
Is this a quirk of the On-Page Report Card or does Google treat them as separate keywords?

RE: Sudden drop in rankings
Thanks, I'm pretty pleased with the site and the client is certainly happy with their sales so far!

RE: Sudden drop in rankings
Hmm, it looks like the SeoMoz rank checker is reporting rankings incorrectly for Google.co.uk then.
I've taken a look at google.co.uk and you are right the rankings are pretty much the same as they were before. SeoMoz Rank Tracker tool is reporting the positions correctly but the Campaign rank tracking is way off.

RE: Sudden drop in rankings
They ranked position 6 for handmade satchel on 23/8/11 which is when the rankings were updated on SeoMoz. On the last update on 30/8/11 it is not in the top 50.
All of the keywords I have mentioned are being tracked by SeoMoz and were ranking highly up to and including the 23/8/11 update but dropped significantly in the 30/8/11 update.

RE: Sudden drop in rankings
It is set up to track rankings as a SeoMoz campaign I've just double checked and satchel and satchels were actually around the 13 mark, now they are not in top 50. Handmade leather satchel was rank 6 and is now not in top 50.

RE: Sudden drop in rankings
They don't do anything at the moment that a 17" Macbook would fit in but if they do in the future then I will let you know!

RE: Sudden drop in rankings
The page that was ranked was the site homepage. No changes have been made to that page in the last couple of weeks and very few changes have been made to the rest of the site.
I have changed the 302, I hadn't realised that the redirect that Magento applies by default is a 302!
The delivery and payment information links are no followed as their are multiple links to that page from the homepage. The main link doesn't have a nofollow on it. I was under the impression that it was better to have a single link to a page than multiple routes?

RE: Sudden drop in rankings
The site is new but has had a lot of PR which has gained links from high profile blogs and sites like Grazia and various UK national newspapers. I suppose one reason for the drop could be that these links are ageing?

Sudden drop in rankings
I've been working on a site since it launched in April and the rankings for all targeted keywords have been creeping up in that time. For example the site was position 5 for "satchel" and 6 for "satchels".
I've just had the latest rankings report from SeoMoz and it is showing "not in top 50" for both keywords and big drops on most other keywords. What is the likely explanation for such a big drop?
The website is Z atchels.com

RE: What is a Class C Subnet and why should I care?
Pretty much all hosting companies offer dedicated ips but they are likely to be of the same class C subnet as ips are bought in blocks.
