Joel, i prefer www version cause i think from a technical perspective, there are several benefits to including the WWW.

• Ability to restrict cookies when using multiple subdomains. Cookies of a main domain (i.e. example.com) are sent to all subdomains: If you are going to have subdomains for other purposes (blog for instance), you may want to differentiate the sites and have a www prefix for the regular site.
• WWW actually MEANS something. As mentioned above, WWW is a hostname, and the hostname names the specific service being used a computer network; WWW names the web service for a domain.
• Using the WWW hostname allows for easy segregation in the file structure of your website. Everything in the “www” folder (and at the www.example.com domain) is directly related to serving the site to the public. This allows for simple root-level site organization, eg you could also have a dev folder and have a subdomain dev.example.com for your development site, etc.
• More flexibility with DNS. Your domain’s “Zone” file controls where traffic to your domain is directed and using the non-WWW version of your domain can complicate things.

you may still want to use the WWW simply because it’s conventional to do so. On a business card, the WWW clearly conveys, This is our address on the World Wide Web. People are used to looking for, and seeing, the WWW and that’s sufficient reason for many to stick to the convention

I´d love to know your thoughts about this particular issue:

1. Vtex is top3 e-commerce system in brazil. ( issue is huge)
2. the system do not use 4XX responde codes
3. If there is a error page, they just redirect it to a search page with 200 code.
4. in Google index we can find a lot of "empty" pages ( indexed error pagess)
5. We can´t use noindex for them

we are changing the e-commerce store and usually we do the redirection of all pages URLs...

We usually don´t redirect css, js and images files .... Shouldn´t we redirect images as well?

I'm familar with A/B testing variations of a page but I'd like to A/B test a new designs version of a e-commerce site. I´m wondering about the best way to test with SEO concerns... this is what I´ve in mind right now, any suggestion?

1. Use parameters to make version B different from A version.
2. Redirect 50% of the users with 302 ( or javascript would be a better way?)
3. Use noindex in the B pages.
4. Use rel=canonical in the B pages pointing to A version.
5. In the end use 301 redirect to all B pages to A urls.

PS: We can´t use subdomain and i don´t wanna use robots.txt file to protect the new design from competitors.

Which one do u prefer and why? Does RDFa is better for SEO or is just the same as microdata?

I´m working on a online brazilian marketplace ( looks like etsy in US) and we have a huge amount of pages... I´ve been studing a lot about that and I was wondering to use If-Modified-Since so Googlebot could check if the pages have been updated, and if it is not, there is no reason to get a new copy of them since it already has a current copy in the index.  It uses a 304 status code, "and If a search engine crawler sees a web page status code of 304 it knows that web page has not been updated and does not need to be accessed again." Someone quoted before me**Since Google spiders billions of pages, there is no real need to use their resources or mine to look at a webpage that has not changed. For very large websites, the crawling process of search engine spiders can consume lots of bandwidth and result in extra cost and Googlebot could spend more time in pages actually changed or new stuff!**However, I´ve checked Amazon, Rakuten, Etsy and few others competitors and no one use it! I´d love to know what you folks think about it

It depends of what you want... would you like to make some friends or business conections ( if you are a freelancer) or would you like to have a better corporate Google+ account?

I would point to corporate Google+ account because your personal account it is to show google ( and users in the search) who is the writer (authorship) of the content. If your content have good quality this is good for all sites you write.

Vtex in one of the best e-commerce in Brazil and I´ve just find out they transform any 404 page in a search page.

Polishop ( http://www.polishop.com.br/ ) is one of their clientes and if you try to search any page it will never return a 404 error because convert any url in a search.

Example: http://www.polishop.com.br/12345678 - 200: HTTP/1.1 200 OK ( it does not return a 404 code)

I´m a little bit confused if this good or not... what do you think moz experts?

I´ve a client who uses news articles about his company in newspaper and other magazines in his blog. It´s fair because he wants to show how how big and important he is when someone check his website but in otherwise he is just copying content from others sites. ( there is lot of original content also)

Should I use noindex on these pages or use a rel=canonical? We already ask permission and show the font with the link in these cases.

I tried to use yoast and google xml plugins but I´ve notice there are several important posts to me are not there... I´ve already checked if there was any post with noindex, and everything looks good

Now I´m creating the sitemap file with screaming frog but it is not so convenient as a plugin... any suggestions or tips?

In this particular case is a female clothing company that provides new stuff each 3 months, they never repete the products!-)

Thanks for all the answers and I think I wlll customize and improve the user experience by implementing a dynamically-generated message via cookies during a 301 redirect. This would result in users who have landed on expired products receiving a message letting them know that the original product they were seeking is no longer available. This enhances the user experience because it informs users on why they are being redirected.

As I´m working with magento I will try to find a ready to go solution as a plugin but If I don´t, I will make my own and send to the forum !-)

I´ve several clientes with magento, wp and brazilian Vtex....  usually when a product is out of stock the system allow you to delete or desallow but you will create a 404 erros. There is a plugin to redirect disallow products to home os a personalized page... looks good.

But I´ve just realized when you edit the name (and url) of a product it creats automatic redirect of the product...

Now I´m wondering never delete or disallow a product page anymore.... always edit with a new product so the redirect can send some PR to the new produtc....

Sounds too stupid or make any sense?

and about the urls of the categories? Should I keep them all closest of the root?

A new client ( aqmp.com.br/ )call me yestarday and she told me since they moved on magento they droped down more than US$ 20.000 in sales revenue ( monthly)...

I´ve just checked the webmaster tool and I´ve just discovered the number of crawled pages went from 3.260 to 75.000 since magento started... magento is creating lots of pages with queries like search and filters. Example:

3. http://aqmp.com.br/acessorios/lencos.html?dir=desc&order=name

Add a instruction on robots.txt is the best way to remove unnecessary pages of the search engine?

Header image is great but instead of header.png you could name it the-web-hosting-hero-header.png. The same for others pics

I found something. I´ve just tried to scan your site with screaming frog and i found only 3 results... BUT when I increase the response timout of scanning  I could find 445 itens (256 pages).

I´m using internet marketing consultant because in the end we have to analyse the whole online marketing strategy; since the beginning to check for searchs and key words ( market) till social midias ( how they will find you on these channels)... in the end it´s all about to find you and how to convert users to clients

I´ll start posting in a wordpress blog used machines (excavators and wheel loaders) from a local company. They buy used machines every day and sell machines every day also.

When They sold a machine should I:

A) Edit the page with a sold machine text and show similar machines?

I´m helping a friend who has a e-commerce about nail polish in Brazil. I´m a little in doubt about the urls and folder structure. Two questions:

1. There are 10 products per category and 50 categories. Should I put them all in the root folder or creat 2 major categories ( 25 sub-categories each one)?

2. Whats the better product page url ( the store has around 500)

• nailpolish.com/IMPORT/BRAND/NAME-OF-THE-PRODUCT OR
• nailpolish.com/COMPLETE-NAME-OF-THE-PRODUCT

Whats the best recomandation?
