RE: Google Places Multiple Locations Strategy
I have a business with 2 location in the same city. When I type in the name of the business the main website shows up with 1 google places listing integrated into the listing. Not the places listing below but the pin and Zagat reviews just below the listing.
Is there a way to make both locations show up under the website? Or force the search engine to pull the places results as well?
It appears some business are accomplishing this by naming each location something slightly different. Such as Seattle Brewing Company Tap Room, Seattle Brewing Company Public House, Seattle Brewing Company Beer Room. Anyone seen this before? They all link back to the main site.
Thanks!!!!!

Google Places Multiple Location
Hi everyone,
I have a client with multiple locations in the same city. I would like to have their Goolge places listing show up under the main website listing. Currently, one of the Google places listings in being pulled in directly below the main website but not the other. The Zagat rating is being pulled in as well. I would like to have both locations show up when you type in the name of the business. Any ideas how to do this?

RE: Link Exchange
True. But... there is not much else to support the rankings. I could not find any real quality links pointing at the site. The pages do have a fair amount of content but I don't think that in it'self would secure a #1 spot in a competitive niche. Maybe OSE is not finding the mother link that is supporting the site?
There are no social sharing buttons, no regular blogging.

Link Exchange
Hi everyone,
I just started working for a client in a new niche. After reviewing the backlink profiles of his competitors I can see that the top sites are using a ton of link exchanges. They are from really spammy sites too. The kind that will link to anyone that provides a link back.
Anyone else seeing much of this?

RE: Pages vs Posts
yup that make sense....
I have never run into a situation where the comments where starting to dilute the main keywords. I see how it might happen thought
With this client I am really trying to focus on long-tail traffic. In his niche the search volume is very low for any particular keyword. If my focus is going to be long-tail do you think there is a benefit of pages over posts? Would pages rank stronger for random long-tail variation than posts? Or will a few hundred blog posts pull in the long-tails just the same?
Thanks again for the help!

RE: Pages vs Posts
Yeah I would like to use posts because it seems like the right way to do it... Also it is common practice. But my sites with all pages seems to pull in way more traffic. I usually just make them static pages, allow comments, and add share buttons. I dont think they look any different to the reader.
I want to use the blog for news and discussion but I would like it to pull in lots of long-tail traffic as well. When I look through a lot of the SERPs I do not see blog post rankings... It seems to be static pages. Sub-pages but not many dated blog posts.
If blog posts are intended for more "dated content" such as news, etc. then would Google value them for awhile then roll them off for newer content?
Where Pages are intended for more Evergreen content that should continue to stay relevant?

RE: Pages vs. Posts for SEO
You don't think that pages or posts rank higher in Google. It seems like my "pages" tend to rank higher than my "posts" regardless of length, quality, links, etc.
Have you noticed this?

Pages vs Posts
What are your thoughts on pages vs posts? I am setting up a new blog for a client but not sure how to structure the content. I may just do posts or a whole bunch of page listed down the sidebar.
It seems like my pages always rank better than my posts. Has anyone else noticed this? Could it be because of the dates tied posts?

RE: What causes the reduction in traffic?
You could give it a whirl. What do you have to lose?

RE: What causes the reduction in traffic?
Yep... as you pull those links down the site may drop more. Negative link velocity is no good.

RE: What causes the reduction in traffic?
Google has sent you a notice telling you why. It does not like the link profile of this website. The way I see it you have 3 options:
clean-up the link profile
ignore it, add new content, and hope for the best
start a new site.

Google Sitelinks
Is there anyway to control the sitelinks under a listing in Google?
I have a group of lawyers where 1 of the them is showing up in the sitelinks. They want all of the lawyers to show up.
Right now it is showing 1 lawyer, about page, contact us page, etc.
Thanks!!!!

RE: Targeting multiple keywords with index page
Yeah those are some good points. 3 of the keywords are in the top 20, the other 2 in the top 50. I was thinking about clipping the lower performing keywords to focus more on the other 3.
The 3 that are in the top 20 have around 25k exact searches per month but are a little broad. I think I am going to leave it for now but keep an eye on it.... I will watch it over the next few weeks as I get started working on the site. Hopefully as I become more familiar with the site/niche the answer will be more clear.
Thanks for the valuable information!

RE: Targeting multiple keywords with index page
The main page is currently an aged PR 3 domain. I think I will talk it over with the client to see what he wants to do. I may just leave the 3 in the main page for now. Thanks for the input!

Targeting multiple keywords with index page
Quick keyword question....
I just started working with a client that is ranking fairly well for a number of keywords with his index page. Right now he has a bunch of duplicate titles, descriptions, etc across the entire site. There are 5 different keywords in the title of the index page alone.
I am wondering if it OK to target 3 different keywords with the index page? Or, if I should cut it down to 1. Think blue widget, red widget, and widget making machines. I want each of the individual keywords to improve but don't want to lose what I have either.
Any ideas?
THANKS!!!!
