OK, what is your goal for the different articles? i.e. social sharing, ranking for particular keywords, attracting links, or something else?

Once you know the goal of particular articles you can think about how to write them to achieve those goals (noting you may want to do all the goals suggested above, just focus on one goal per article).

So lets go through some suggested titles:

Social sharing:  10 Pieces of Furniture you couldn't do without.  No. 7 will blow your mind!

Keyword ranking (more natural traffic)  - How to clean red wine off your settee.

Links - More detailed articles that go in more depth than the other articles, often helpful but could involve ideas from the other articles so something like - "How to know you are paying the right price for your furniture"

Whatever you do when ranking for keywords, is check out the competition and make sure your article is better, so looks nice, contains better information, and is more helpful.  For more ideas, just check out what your competition is writing about, and take some ideas and just make the articles 10 times better bringing in more \ different concepts and information so it is totally original.

I always include the brand name where I can, but if it is too long because of that I do not hesitate to drop the brand name.

For the titles, whilst I think about it from an SEO perspective, it is also important to think of it from a CTR perspective too.  Sometimes you need that extra bit of description at the expense of the brand name.  To give an example, on some articles I find it better to put the month and year at the end instead of the brand name to increase CTR.  So basically, no I don't think it particularly matters, but it will vary on a case by case basis.

I would be interested in reading more about this if you have a source to back up that definition of keyword stuffing.

If you need help fixing that, Sucuri should be able to help.  They will fix it for a one time fee, and if it re-occurs they will fix it again any time in the next 12 months for no cost.  I think it costs about $99 or something, but I haven't specifically checked that.

Alternatively, if you are good at keeping backups and haven't made any changes recently you could try reverting to an older version.  Quite often with these hacks, even if you delete the offending files, if you don't deal with the root cause it will just happen again.

Accuranker is cheap, and allows me to instantly see how a page ranks for new content, and for after content is updated.  I find it invaluable, as you can submit a page to webmaster tools via fetch and then check rankings 5 minutes later to see the effect (noting, you may see an initial effect and then some days later get more movement).

Cognitive SEO is great if you need full backlink data, i.e. for link cleanups etc or if you get hit by negative SEO etc.  Basically it is cheaper than signing up to ahrefs, majestic and moz.  Although Moz is great for all the other tools.

Yes, at the top of my disavow file, I also mentioned about the negative SEO attack.  In my case it was obvious from the anchor text used on all the backlinks.  I don't think they even look at the disavow file unless it is with a manual penalty, but I did add the comments anyway.

I only use two currently:

• Moz
• Accuranker (great rank tracker where you can update your rankings instantly as many times as you want)
• Occasionally I will use cognitiveseo as this takes in Moz, Ahrefs and majestic link data as well as webmaster tools data from your account and is useful for cleaning up backlinks (I was hit by negative seo last year).

I have tried many other tools, but these are the ones I keep going back to.

I wouldn't worry.  I got hit by negative seo.  It had no effect on my rankings, and I just disavowed all the links anyway to avoid it hurting during a penguin refresh.  That has since come and gone, and again no problems.

Those spammy links may just dissappear over time, but not something I would worry about as long as they are disavowed.

It is the hosting I believe that has expired, not the domain.

All I see on that domain is "this webspace is expired".

If you still see your website, try clearing your browser cache.  It could explain why your site is not ranking.

I had a problem with hidden content on a review plugin I was using (they have since changed it) due to tabs.  I can confirm that none of the reviews were indexed that were behind hidden tabs.

So, no I would definitely not hide text now that Google doesn't see it.  If you want to test what Google will see and take into account, use the Google Render tool in Webmaster tools.

Also, have you checked your .htaccess redirect.  This may help:

Can you not just ask them to reissue with the WWW's?  I would definitely speak to them before doing anything.

If you had purchased with the www's it should have covered both the non www, and the www version.

The on page grader counts the whole page, including things like breadcrumbs, sidebar widgets etc.

When I first started with Moz, I actually removed a fair amount of exact match keywords from sidebar and footer widgets upon using the grader tool.  The results from the improvements in on-page SEO have been good as a result.

I would not recommend setting up a different page for the different queries.

Have you used the Moz page-grader tool and entered in each query to ensure you get an "A" grade for both queries?

Check out cognitiveseo.com.  They take all the link metrics from Moz, ahrefs, and majestic (so saves you having to subscribe to each separately to be certain you get all the links) and also allow you to import your webmaster tools data.  They have a tool that allows you to classify links and advise on what are bad links.  As with any automated tool you need to manually check through it all.

Once you have the list, they will even build the disavow file for you.

When I was under a negative SEO attack, it is what I used for 3 or 4 months whilst I managed the disavow process.

Personally, I don't do guest blogging or even try to get links.  I can see what pages get links naturally on my site, and it is truly the best content that actually helps people (tutorials \ guides etc).  These are pages that can take a week to write.

I wouldn't want to put my best content on another blog when I can just get many 100's of visitors a week from just great article on my own site.

Cloudflare is good, particularly with SSL.  If it works well (check fetch + render in webmaster tools) then I would keep it.

You shouldn't need W3 Total Cache with WP Engines own caching, so I wouldn't mess around with your site performance any more if it is all working fine.  You have good speeds as it is.

You have used that keyword 42 times according to Moz on-page grader.  It recommends no more than 15 times.

Personally, when I optimize it will depend on length of content, and I will check the keyword density of those ranking in the top 3 as well to see what they do.

So my keyword density varies between 10 and 20, depending on the article and what seems natural.

No, it is not overkill to use a CDN with Cloudflare.  For my own site, I used MaxCDN with Cloudflare Railgun with HTTPS.  Cloudflare railgun (free with certain hosts) will cache the content that shouldn't be cached, so great for SSL.

Unfortunately, what I found was Cloudflare gave Google fetch errors for certain files, so now I just use Maxcdn plus I like my EV SSL certificate which doesn't work with Cloudflare (unless you have the $200 pm plan).

You may want to check out https://www.besthostnews.com/guide-to-w3-total-cache-settings-with-cloudflare/ as that guide will help optimize your site, although I think WP Engine has it's own caching system.

Looking at your site: http://tools.pingdom.com/fpt/#!/dzqaUq/https://www.aerlawgroup.com/ it looks very lightweight, with only 27 requests.  That is about as good as it gets, especially with your very low page size (300kb).  I personally think you will struggle to optimize the site more, as quite frankly... your site speed is excellent.  Well done!

Yep, Copyscape is what I use.  I use a wordpress plugin that uses the copyscape API and just check my main content every month or so with a simple click.

Just to update for people that see this question in the future.  The problem was caused by the lack of intermediate certificate.  Everything is now working.

But from what I read elsewhere, and what I am seeing I think it is unrelated to rogerbot being caught in the firewall and more likely a https SSL certificate issue.

Just to add, I managed to run a site crawl (the one with the downloadable csv file) so clearly it is just related to the on-page grader.

Also, rather strangely other sites on the VPS work fine (http).

Therefore I am thinking more and more that it is an SSL intermediate certificate issue.

My working theory is that as I just transferred the site to one of my VPS that the SSL doesn't have a valid intermediate certificate.  I will have a closer look at resolving this tomorrow.

It probably didn't help that I was not accurate with the error message which states that "sorry but that url is inaccessable".

Well, my host cannot check without IP's and from what I read Moz doesn't give out IPs as they are dynamic.

I guess that leaves me stuck unable to use this service.

Aman,... well what you are doing is creating thin pages which over time might just risk a Panda Penalty.  You might want to at least no-index those blog pages.

Why not just use rel canonical?

Why are your blog pages, just an image of a photocopy of someone elses article.  You realise Google can't read the text from Images for SEO purposes right?

I have great success filing a DMCA with google when this happens.  The process is easy, and can be done here:

From my own experience it will take them 3 or 4 weeks to process it, but I have been successful every time.

When I first started doing SEO, I did small niche sites, and to some extent I used exact match domains.  Furthermore, I dabbled in the old black hat arts as well.

I can tell you that merging multiple sites into one was the best thing I have done (well, that and going completely white hat).  You can save so much time only focusing on one site, that you can spend alot more time creating better content, and like you say more time increasing the authority of one site rather than having to split your attentions over three.

Sure, you may find in the short term that you don't do so well, but if you are wanting to think ahead and consider how you can expand even more with related topics and better ranking through a stronger domain authority then I think migrating into one site could well be worth considering.

I would suggest you find a new host.  I know that is the obvious answer, but probably the easiest.  If you have cPanel, many hosts will transfer everything across for you.
