Thanks Robin,
That's as I suspected. I'll see if I can grab a cheap SSL for the old site somewhere to see if I can rectify the situation.
Thanks for your help!
Mike.

Hi,
Another newbie question please. I've recently changed the name of my business so bought a new domain and rekeyed the SSL certificate to the new domain.
Let's say the old domain was called https://123.com and the new one is https://abc.com.
I've set up a 301 redirect on 123.com to forward to abc.com and I've added the new domain to Google Search Console and verified it, however can't seem to use the Change of Address tool to move from the old domain to the new domain.
I think its because my preferred property (https://123.com) technically no longer exists since I rekeyed the SSL certificate from the old site to the new one so the old site no longer has an SSL certificate. When I go to the old https domain it doesn't load, nor does it seem to forward to the new site. It just times out.
Am I correct in assuming that since I rekeyed the SSL certificate, that my original preferred property on Google (https://123.com) no longer exists?
And if so, is there a way to use the Change of Address tool or do I simply need to remove the old site from Google and go through a period where my (new) site builds it's ranking from scratch?
Thanks in advance folks!
Thanks Paul,
Agreed. Its for the hero image only on the home page and I'm in discussions with the theme provider to see if there's a way to have only one H1 tag, but have the image change behind it as you move between devices. We'll see how I get on with that!
Thanks for your help it's greatly appreciated!
Mike.
Thanks Stephan,
That's good to know. You're totally correct, it's the same heading and same image with the image just cropped differently per device, and with only one of the rows appearing on each device. It seems to be displaying fine.
Thanks for your help with this!
Mike.
Hi folks,
My homepage has 3 identical H1 tags due to the fact that I have had to create individual hero images (with headings) for desktop, tablet and mobile. I couldn't get my theme to display the layout in exactly the way I wanted on each device without doing a specific hero image and tag for each device type.
Does this have a major impact on my SEO?
Thanks,
Mike.
Such a good point and thank you so much for going into this in such depth!
There's absolutely nothing wrong with the URL or even the slug. It's just from trying to do keyword research after the fact, there doesn't seem to be the search volume for the exact phrase I've used to suggest I should have used it.
Sounds like keeping the slug the same but working on optimising everything else is the way to go! That and being much more mindful of what I'm doing moving ahead!
Thanks that makes sense! The context of the article is exactly the same I'm just trying to optimise it better.
Does it penalise me in any way not having my focus keywords in my slug?
Thanks,
Hi folks,
I'm a total newbie so please go easy.
I've published 4 blogs on my website and am using the free Yoast plugin to guide me on my SEO. The blogs have been promoted in various places using organic and paid social.
However, the more I look into SEO the more I'm realising that I did literally NO keyword research and the keywords I'm using are pretty useless.
The question is this: it should be easy enough for my to change the content of the blog, the meta description etc to reflect the new keywords, but what about the URL / slug?.
Is there any way to change this without causing me a massive headache or does having my new keywords in the slug even matter?
Thanks,
Mike.
