Html5 in SEO
-
What is the convinience of using html5 for seo.As i read is not too good using many h1 in each metacontent (due to crawler alerts) , but it is good to use html5.
We have follow or so this web guidelines www.tumanitas.com whtat do you think about taht?
-
Logically, it usually makes sense to only have one
tag which summarizes the overall page content - that's why there's h2-h5 available. However, if you segement your content and tag eachorwith an
<hgroup>that contains an
tag you should be fine as far as crawler alerts are concerned - I think Google will get the point. Just don't expect each H1 tag to carry the "weight" you'd expect it to if you're using multiple tags on the same page.
</hgroup>
-
Good. So you will use only one h1 for each html5 page and star with h2 the articles or sections instead of h1 (if you follow recomandtions such as modernizr) to avoid crawler alerts? That is my question, we have devoloped the whole web in html5 considering navigators incompatibilities but I dont feel confidence following estrictly html5 guidelines of using h1 because it will means a page with 5 h1

I with yo on this one.
I see so many peole with crappy code busting their buts getting links. Having nice clean code that means somthing is a great advantage.
ill take a gess you are using ASP.MVC?
I will point out and aside is linked to a page, but wheninside an article it is linked to teh article. very handy.
But you should takee it a step further. Use microdata. http://schema.org/

HTML5 is fantastic for SEO because you can better segment main content, menus, headers, footers, links sections, etc. Some examples:
-
Improve Page Segmentation; an example:
<hgroup>
headline with keywords
a secondary headline
</hgroup>
Lorem ipsum, etc..
Typically, these tags replacetags. The benefit is that these are more meaningful and provide more context to search engines.
-
Let the search engines know what content on your page isn't the primary focus using
<aside></aside>
-
Identify primary navigation using the
<nav></nav>
tag
-
New
<header>and
<footer>tags (within ) are flexible and good for reducing the possibility of duplicate content issues if you have a "fat" footer with a lot of content or large flyouts on your primary navigation that repeat on each page. </footer>
</header>
I've seen ranking improvements from just upgrading a site to HTML5 and implementing solid page segmentation using the aforementioned tags. The caveat is that not all browsers support HTML5 natively, so you'll need to ensure that the website degrades gracefully in the absence of support for the newer tags. I recommend something like Modernizr to take care of that.
Finally, IBM has a good article with examples on how to implement HTML5.

How can i transfer the index pages SEO power to new domains pages? So the new domain page can appear instead of old domain. 301 redirect will permanently redirect the user to new domain but i want to keep the old domain running for users only, not for Search engines. any idea. please share. thanks.

Word mentioned twice in URL? Bad for SEO?
Is a URL like the one below going to hurt SEO for this page? /healthcare-solutions/healthcare-identity-solutions/laboratory-management.html I like the match the URL and H1s as close as possible but in this case it looks a bit funky. /healthcare-solutions/healthcare-identity-solutions/laboratory-management.html

Personalization software and SEO
Hi guys, I'm just testing a personalization software in our website, basically changing the "location" text depending on the user's IP. I can see in my software that when the Google bot comes to our site the personalization software triggers an action changing the location based text to "California". Can this make Google understand that our website targets only users in California and thereof hurt our rankings in other locations nationwide? I'll appreciate your opinions.

Improving SEO Structure of a Page
Our site is an online Marketplace for Services. Naturally, we have a lot of unique content in the form of :
Technical SEO | | Ideas2life
a) Job Posts
b) Profiles of Service Providers We also have 2 very important pages:
a) The Job Listing Page
b) The Service Provider Page The Listing pages have very valuable H1 Titles, but everything else is duplicate content. To capture those keywords currently in H1, we have created a different landing page for each category page, and we`ll optimize around that, so these H1s are not that big of a deal any more. These landing pages are the key to our SEO strategy and we are building new content every day to help them rank I want to make the Listing Pages No Index Follow. This way they pass Juice to Jobs, and Profiles which have unique contents, but are not indexed themselves. Is this a bad idea? I have been thinking about doing this for over a year but it never felt important enough to be worth the risk of accidentally screwing up We `ll soon do a new on page flow optimization and that's why I am considering this again. Thank you so much in advance Argyris0 -
SEO quandary advice needed
I'm in a bind, I've been working on my SEO for a while now and have finally landed on the top page for [fishing kayak reviews] in Google US. The problem is it's not the page I want to be ranked! I've recently updated my reviews component to a more robust system but the url is slightly different. Looking currently [Reviews without Images] http://www.yakangler.com/fishing-kayak-reviews is ranking in Google but I would like [Reviews with Images] http://www.yakangler.com/fishing-kayak-review to rank instead. What would be the best solution for this problem? Adjust the url for [Reviews with Images] so it take the place of [Reviews without Images]? Do you think I will get any negative impacts from this?

Are there negative SEO implications to pages without any images?
Hi Mozzers, Do you think there are any negative effects of having no images on a page but several hundreds words of text? (There is a logo image and call to action buttons). Thanks!

Quick Seo question regarding 301 redirect
Hi everyone and thank you for showing interested in my problem and for helping me out with this easy thing i have going on Here is how it puts out : I have 2 websites, same niche, mostly same keywords. Site #1 holding strong on google #2 ranking for months now. Site #2 was holding strong in google top 10 rankings until 2 weeks ago when it got sandboxed for some reason I want to use a 301 permanent redirect from Site #2 to Site #1 to pass all the link juice onto Site #1 and hopefully beat the #1 spot The question: Will this affect Site #1 is anyway, considering Site #2 is in somehow sandbox ( i assume that, since he dropped more then 70 positions over night ) Is thins a good think to do or i risk damaging Site #1 by doing this ? Thanks allot in advance. Best regards,

What is the best website structure for SEO?
I've been on SEOmoz for about 1 month now and everyone says that depending on the type of business you should build up your website structure for SEO as 1st step. I have a new client click here ( www version doesn't work)... some bugs we are fixing it now. We are almost finished with the design & layout. 2nd question have been running though my head. 1. What would the best url category for the shop be /products/ - current url cat ex: /products/door-handles.html 2. What would you use for the main menu as section for getting the most out of SEO. Personally i am thinking of making 2-3 main categories on the left a section where i can add content to it (3-4 paragraphs... images maybe a video).So the main page focuses on the domain name more and the rest of the sections would focus on specific keywords, this why I avoid cannibalization. Main keyword target is "door handles" Any suggestions would be appreciated.
