Ror.xml vs sitemap.xml

Hey Mozzers,
So I've been reading somethings lately and some are saying that the top search engines do not use ror.xml sitemap but focus just on the sitemap.xml. Is that true?
Do you use ror? if so, for what purpose, products, "special articles", other uses? Can sitemap be sufficient for all of those?

ok so yes its the standard, but does google look at ror? or other key niche news content aggregators? for which it might be important any thoughts?

Hi Vjay,
The sitemaps protocol was adopted as a standard by the three major search engines back in 2007.
This is not to say that other methods of submitting a sitemap don't work, but if you follow the sitemap protocol as described at sitemaps.org then you know that you are working within the standard recognized by Google, Bing & Yahoo.

Similar Content vs Duplicate Content
We have articles written for how to setup pop3 and imap. The topics are technically different but the settings within those are very similar and thus the inital content was similar. SEOMoz reports these pages as duplicate content. It's not optimal for our users to have them merged into one page. Main vs Pointing URL Confusion
Hi, I have a new website that deals with 3 very similar businesses The main purpose of the website is to assist the consumer to search, compare and book chaffered transportation online. The 3 businesses are taxi cab hire, limo hire, party bus hire. My main domain is www.mytaxicab.co.za. I also own the domains mylimo.co.za and mypartybus.co.za. My question is, from a best practice SEO perspective, how should I set this up. Should I have one main site www.mytaxicab.co.za and have the 2 other niche domain names point in eg user types www.mypartybus.co.za and lands on www.mytaxicab.co.za/party-bus-hire or is there a better way? Should I add my blog posts to my sitemap.txt file?
This seems like it should be an obvious no, just because of the amount of work that would entail, and then remembering to do it every time I make a post, but since I couldn't find anything on Google about it and have never heard anyone mention it, I figured I'd ask.
