Any reaction to the announcement from Google that 'signed in' searches won't pass through search query info to analytics?

Seems like SEO is about to get that much harder:

Any thoughts on this?

Yes i spend most of my time logged out, but every now again I am suprised to see my rankings skyrocket, then disapointment sets in when i realize I am loged in with web history on.
what has not been made clear is if the missing stats will be in Premium Analytics?
And is it true that Premium will cost 150K a year?
And will SeoMoz decide they too can charge more?
-
However, it might be the other way around. My mom visiting a site may be more likely to be logged into gmail and thus logged into Google than I as an SEO. I have one browser that I use just for Google tools (gmail, analytics, etc.) and Facebook. I do all of my other surfing in another browser where I am not logged in. In any case, we're at least more aware of if we are logged in than the regular population. Whether that leads us to be logged in more when we casually surf or less I don't know.

I know that they're saying this will only affect a single-digit percentage of organic searches, but isn't it plausible that in certain niches or communities it could take away a much larger portion of keyword data. Any SEO blog might be a good example. I would hypothesize that the average SEOmoz visitor is more likely to have a Google account (and be signed in) than a visitor to, say, MarthaStewart.com. Could this be a bigger blow to some websites' analytics data than Google is letting on?

Bing!
I am pretty well pro Microsoft. But i do truly believe bing a better search engine. Better Results, less junk. Better WMT, and i always rank better in bing. I would like to see a comparison on ranking factors, but i believe bing likes clean code sites.
I am also suprised how few a people on this group are hosted on windows servers or have sites built in Microsoft technologies. Is it the Moz in SeoMoz that attacts mozilla people?
any one know how much Premium Analtytics will cost, I read an article that it can cost up to $10,000 a month others suggest $150,000 a year. I hope Microsoft bring out a free analytics

Not so much difficult as making it less direct and leaving more to extrapolate or to be tested.

I think the sentiments shared in the comments to the article you linked shares the sentiments of the community. I am laughing now because it is pretty clear what Alan's google name is based on the feedback

The link worked, i read the article, it just gave me a chance to vent my speen about search term changes.
I am really losing faith in google, google adds has generated vast amount of useless sites full of google adds after ppc. They have become too powerfull and bossy.
Is this desiged to get peopel to pay for premium analytics? i much prefer Bing as a search engine,
Lets hope that Bing gains enouth market share to make google respect the users a bit more.

Thanks, although their blog is even more worrying as they'll be stripping all info from searches where the user is signed into google.. (Will try to post the link properly this time)

I have notived that Google now somtimes changes your search term without asking. In stead of simply suggesting did you mean blah blah, it just changes your search. I have a site that becomes unfindable becauce of this. It seems very rude. This also make a mockery of statistics

How does ARIA-hidden text appear to search engines
I'm having trouble getting my accessibility team to add alt text to our site's images for SEO benefits as they feel some of it would add additional noise for screen readers. They proposed using ARIA-hidden attributes to hide the text but I'm wondering if will that be interpreted as a cloaking tactic to search engines? Also, I'm wondering if it the alt text will carry the same weight if ARIA-hidden is used. Has anyone had any experience with this? I'm having trouble finding any research on the topic.

Sitemap created on client's Joomla site but it is not showing up on site reports as existing? (Thumbs Up To Answers)
I am working with a web developer who built our client's site in Joomla. I seem to have a lot of issues with Joomla based sites. Any how, the site is www.pitgearusa.com and when we run site reports it is showing there is no xml sitemap. However he used a popular Joomla plugin for sitemaps called Xmap. Here is their url: http://www.jooxmap.com/ Can anyone provide any advice on what the website developer needs to do in order for the xml sitemap to function and "show up" on reports? Thanks Mashed Up

Question #1: Does Google index https:// pages? I thought they didn't because....
generally the difference between https:// and http:// is that the s (stands for secure I think) is usually reserved for payment pages, and other similar types of pages that search engines aren't supposed to index. (like any page where private data is stored) My site that all of my questions are revolving around is built with Volusion (i'm used to wordpress) and I keep finding problems like this one. The site was hardcoded to have all MENU internal links (which was 90% of our internal links) lead to **https://**www.example.com/example-page/ instead of **http://**www.example.com/example-page/ To double check that this was causing a loss in Link Juice. I jumped over to OSE. Sure enough, the internal links were not being indexed, only the links that were manually created and set to NOT include the httpS:// were being indexed. So if OSE wasn't counting the links, and based on the general ideology behind secure http access, that would infer that no link juice is being passed... Right?? Thanks for your time. Screens are available if necessary, but the OSE has already been updated since then and the new internal links ARE STILL NOT being indexed. The problem is.. is this a volusion problem? Should I switch to Wordpress? here's the site URL (please excuse the design, it's pretty ugly considering how basic volusion is compared to wordpress) http://www.uncommonthread.com/

How Important is Title Tag while viewing in browser's tab
Hi SEOmozer,I have a dumb/silly question. Ok, I know Title tags are important for SEO and users and it shows up in the SERP and all that. My question is that, using a weird CMS, I have the title tag implemented and it appear in the SERP the way I want it. However, the problem is that when I hover over the tab on the browser, it doesn't appear the same way it is in the SERP. Does that really matter that it appears differently? I checked the HTMl and this what I got<title>Example Keywordtitle><meta name="layout" content="main"/><meta name="description" content="Keyword 1 | Keyword 2 | Company Name"/>So whats within the "content" is showing in the SERP and what is in "title" tag is showing in the browser tab. Shouldn't they be the same?

Does disabling the "View Source" functionality prevent Google from crawling a website?
I know Google uses a lot of variables when crawling a website. I wasn't sure if disabling the "View Source" option hindered anything.

Do Pages That Rearrange Set Off Any Red Flags for Google?
We have a broad content site that includes crowdsourced lists of items. A lot of the pages allow voting, which causes the content on the pages (sometimes the content is up to 10 pages deep) to completely rearrange, and therefore spread out and switch pages often among the (up to 10) pages of content. Now, could this be causing any kind of duplicate content or any other kind of red flags for Google? I know that the more the page changes the better, but if it's all the same content that is being moved up and down constantly, could Google think we're pulling some kind of "making it look like we have new content" scheme and ding us for these pages? If so, what would anyone recommend we do? Let's take an example of a list of companies with bad customer service. We let the internet vote them up and down all the time, the order changes depending on the votes in real time. Is that page doomed, or does Google see it and love it?

Custom URL's with Bigcommerce Issue (Is it worth it?)
We're building out a store in Bigcommerce, who for all intensive purposes is perfect for SEO besides the fact that you can not change the URL's to be custom. My question is, does this kill the SEO value of bigcommerce, despite everything else being great? So for example the URL's for a category page would be something like this www.mysite.com/categories/keyword and the product URL's are pulled in by product name, so product URL's could be something like www.mysite.com/products/Product-Description-Long-223.html (notice the words will be capitalized and their is no way to remove the trailing .html) I could go with Interspire (the liscenced version of Bigcommerce) or Magento so I can custom edit this stuff. But then its a lot more work for my employee's on the buildout.
