I think if you're questioning it yourself, then you already have a big clue to the answer
I'm learning the hard way that quick attempts to build generic directory links in the past were very short lived, so building links from sites that I would use/visit myself is usually quite a good starting point, it takes more time in acquiring them, but they're going to be good for the long term.

No.
Storwell, I think you are experienced enough to know a "good" directory from a bad one. This directory is clearly a bad one.
1. It offers a service whereby you pay to get submitted to hundreds of free directories. Awful.
2. If offers free links. I tried looking for some of the free links and couldn't even find them in OSE.
3. If offers paid links and lists them as "featured". These would be considered paid links by Google, they are marked by the "Featured" label and therefore would be devalued.
4. The directory has no posted standards, and as such would have any links devalued.
5. The site itself is very low quality. The PR shows as a 3. I rarely ever check a site's PR, but the DA of 8x led me to check and it just shows their DA is jammed pack with tons of worthless links to offer the appearance the directory has value.
If the site's home page is PR3, figure the first level category page is PR2 and the second level is PR1. In other words, even if somehow you got a link which actually passed PR, it would be a very low amount.

The directory looks ok with a decent PA. I would just make sure you submit your site to the appropriate category.

On-Page E-commerce Site Optimization
Hello everyone! Just started on a new job as in house SEO and PPC but it is also my first job as such, got little experience and for what I know the site needs a lot of work in terms of optimization. I would like to ask some help and some opinions about what I think should be done in order to rank higher because at the moment the highest ranking page doesn't go higher than the third page for general but high traffic volume keywords. All the titles tag are too long, some of them are up to 100 characters The meta tag isn't optimized properly to attract people and get clicks the content on the product pages is laid out badly and there aren't many keywords a lot of duplicate content there are little inbound links there isn't a section for content such as a news page, a blog or anything like that which makes link building even harder Here my challenges: Create well optimized product, category , subcategory pages to improve also the PPC landing pages Improve the rankings at least to get on the first page for general keywords Choose the right keywords to optimize the site for increase the number of inbound links. I also have to manage adwords and given my little experience I can't seem to prioritize things so any suggestions would be really appreciated. Also if you don't mind to take a look at the site and leave me comments on things that I should improve, I'd be grateful . Worth paying for directory listings?
I'm going through the recommended SEO directory list but I notice that most of them are paid listings. I have been told that it is not worth spending any money on this, so why are there so many recommended in this list?

Buying High PR Sites
Is it possible to buy old sites that no longer have a site up that has a high PR? Can I just put up another site about anything I want and rank well for it? I see that my link profile (anchor text) will not support my on site SEO. However, could I link to another site and pass page rank with this tactic? Please discuss... Especially those doing this...

UGC content sites not hit by Panda?
I know many social and article sites (hubpages, ezinearticles, many low quality article sites, etc.) were hit by Panda. Many higher quality sites that accept user-submitted content were not hit. High quality blogs that accept guest posts is one example. I believe Squidoo fared pretty well. Any other sites that accept user-generated content (with links) that still rank well?
