When searching for high quality links, in a niche area such as real estate, does page rank factor into a search or is page / domain authority the most important factor?
-
After having employed many different methods for finding good link partners I am now finding it more difficult to reach out and identify good quality links for a niche area such as real estate. Does page rank factor into the search much or is it better to focus on page / domain authority as a major factor?

great feedback, thanks

Phillip's explanation are the thoughts I was trying to express.

Ryan stated that Open Site Explorer was counting links that Google was devaluing so he was probably right. I would think that if Google identified a link farm and devalued it, mozRank would not have any way of detecting it. Or maybe I'm wrong?

Have you got thart back to front?
DA of 8x but their PR was 3,
Would that not indicate they have very good links. as DA includes trust linking patterns, domain diversity and the like.
Where PR is just the flow of link juice thought links. -
thanks Ryan, great points

When searching for high quality links, in a niche area such as real estate, does page rank factor into a search or is page / domain authority the most important factor?
Any metric is a source of information and can potentially be valuable. It is also possible to manipulate most metrics; therefore, it is often a good idea to compare metrics for alignment. I recall looking at a site last week with a DA of 8x but their PR was 3. Clearly the site boosted their links with a lot of low quality links. OSE recognizes the links but Google clearly devalues most of them.
Whether you label it intuition or your spidey-sense, you should have some relative idea of a site's quality after a brief analysis of the site. Does the site have trust badges? Is the site involved with niche-based authoritative sites? Using the real estate example, is the site part of any official real estate networks such as the National Association of Realtors? A list of many such real estate organizations can be found here: http://www.csus.edu/obe/links/organization.html
Ultimately you should understand Google does not measure or offer any consideration to DA and PA. On the other hand, I personally find those metrics as very valuable tools to help me quickly gain an idea of a site's importance. With that said, you definitely need to gain an idea of whether those metrics have been manipulated.
A final thought. Pretend search engines did not exist. Where would you look to gain links? It's a whole different mindset which should lead you to the high quality links you are seeking.

Links to "boring" pages
Hello Mozzers, EDIT: Is internal linking enough? This question is my head for a long time. Let's say I have a webdesign company and a website (really?). I have a blog and write quality content on a weekly basis. The content is great and people love it, they share it on social networks and other webmasters link to these articles. Now I have one optimized page, that brings me the business. Lets say: mywebsite.com/webdesign-service On this page I only have boring stuff like saying what I am offering and testimonials and stuff. So basically a page no one shares and no one links to. But it's important to rank with the keywords targeted on this site. How do I get to rank this page? A page that doesn't offer value to anybody. Normally, we shouldn't have pages like this, but some companies do boring stuff and creativity doesn't help. Maybe this question is stupid, forgive me but I don't get it. I am thankful for any answers on this!

Domain name holding pages link back, good or bad?
We are a web design and hosting company http://www.spiralsites.com But when we register domains for clients, or they take email only or a name is parked we have it using a holding page which can be seen as follows: http://www.jcevents.co.uk/ is this a good thing? Bad thing? Could it would it should it benefit our rankings? Should we do more to make it look less like our main site and actually try to use it better to help rank our other services pages?

JavaScript is crawled by search engines, isn’t it? Does it mean that links embedded in JavaScript pass link juice?
I wonder If links embedded in JavaScript from an external Website pass link juice to the linked page and thus have a positive effect on google rankings. I read that JavaScipt is craweld. Does it mean that also the link juice is passed? I'm looking forward to your answers.

Etsy.com --Getting link juice through other pages on search results?
My sister has a store page on etsy.com where she sells home made crafts. And I want to help her rank higher on google with some of the other etsy stores. So i started to look at the other etsy store pages that are ranking well on google and found that they have a page authority between 48 to 52. So i looked at the backlinks of the ones ranking well on google with high page authority and found that many of their best links came from the internal search results page on etsy.com, and some only had one link from just an arbitrary etsy.com search page. I'm thinking this is because another product being listed on the seach page has a high page authority which then passes some of its link juice onto every other product on the page. But what is interesting is products are always being sold or getting added so even though you are on a search results page that happens to benifit from the link juice of another product the next time the page gets crawled you will be on a different search page. So i am thinking in order to maintain high page authority to you just have to have a lot of products listed so that there is a greater likely hood that you will find yourself on the same search page as another high authority page. I have not been doing SEO very long so i would love to hear what others think. I really have no idea, am i on the right track with this? (edited post) Thanks

Do you think it's a good idea to try to find synergy between clients for blog posts/citations/links, or should you keep clients away from each other?
Say you have for example three (in this case) clients, and: Client A sells red widgets Client B is a doctor Client C sellls blue widgets With some research, you find that: Red widgets (A) can make the process of blue widget creation (C) even more effective. Red widgets (A) can protect you from harmful things that doctors (B) are qualified to recommend that you stay away from. Furthermore, there are things that doctors (B) recommend that you do in order to maximize the benefits of red widgets (A) Blue widgets (C) carry with them certain potential health risks, which according to doctors (B) can be minimized using the following means Sometimes blue widgets (C) can be used to effectively repair red widget (A) factories ...and so forth. Sure you're really writing these articles to generate links and exchange authority, and frankly you started with "how can I find synergy between these clients?" rather than a with a great article subject that needed a citation which luckily happened to be another client, but the citations are legitimate and the clients are qualified to speak on the subjects where their expertise and interests overlap. Would you consider going ahead with this? Does anyone have any experience doing it? I could see potential pitfalls if clients were to interact with each other, but keeping yourself as the intermediary might well work and overall it seems like a decent way to grab low-hanging fruit as they say. What do you guys think?
