Go Daddy can anyone explain the point of their auction site
-
Hi i am very confused. I found out that go daddy was selling in2town.com and they are the owners of the domain name so i went ahead and bid for the domain name. i then won it and was told i would have to wait six days to use it and now i have received this email from them.
This message is to notify you that the current registrant of in2town.com has renewed their domain name and we have ended the auction per the terms of the legal agreement (Universal Terms of Service) that you acknowledged at the time of bidding. If you have already paid for this domain name, you will automatically receive a refund within the next 6 days.
We're sorry you did not win this domain. However, we have thousands of other great names available at Go Daddy Auctions. Visit our Web site to search for your next domain.
If you have any questions, Customer Support is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week:

what i do not understand is, when i checked on who is to see who the owner was, go daddy came up and now when i go to the domain name that i wanted to buy it is not being used.
-
What go daddy does is go out into the market and sell off all domains when they are about to expire, which is quite a money spinner for them. They rely on the change that the owner will not re register the domains so then they get the money.
They will contact all other owners of related domain names, I own a lot of domains so they will email me to no end trying to sell me a .info or .net version of another tld I have.
Hope this helps

thanks for this. when i checked at the time before going onto the auction, who is said that go daddy owned the domain name, so i find it all very strange.

Hi Diane
Domain Auction Services such as this one can either work really well in acquiring an already registered/owned domain name, or can be really frustrating as per your experience. (They usually work best when the domain is due to expire shortly and if the domain is infact not renewed, you may end up being the first person to grab it when it becomes publicly available).
Basically, Go Daddy try to contact the current Registrant for a period of 30 days, to inquire as to whether or not they are prepared to sell it (this page has some useful information on about buying through Go Daddy auction). If nothing is heard within 30 days, the request is cancelled. Sometimes, the messaging can be incorrect or confusing, causing frustration to the person trying to purchase the domain through auction.
The message you received, "This message is to notify you that the current registrant of in2town.com has renewed their domain name..." is rather strange as the current registrant did not renew the domain name recently going by a Whois Lookup as it was registered on September 24th 2010 and is due for renewal on September 24th 2012.
So it looks like that Go Daddy either got no response from the current owner of the domain or they were informed that it was not for sale. Their messaging and communication back to you could certainly have been clearer.
May be worth putting this domain on 'domain watch' (plenty of domain registrars offer this service) about 6 months prior to the renewal date so that when renewal time does arrive, you'll have a fair chance of grabbing it should it not be renewed.
Regards
Simon

I have 2 E-commerce sites - Can i cross link?
Good Morning Everyone, I have 2 e-commerce websites that are similar and sell the same products. The content (text/descriptions/titles) is different so the content is not duplicate. SITE A has a ton of blog posts with highly relevant information and we frequently update the blog with posts about the types of products we carry and how it can help people in their daily lives... SITE B has no blog posts, but the content on the blog from SITE A is extremely relevant and helpful to anyone using SITE B. My question is, do you think it is frowned upon if i were to add links on SITE B that point to specific posts on SITE A... For example, if you are browsing a category page on SITE B, i was thinking of adding links on the bottom that would say "For More Information, Please Check Out These Posts on our Blog" www.sitea.com/blog/relevantinfo1 www.sitea.com/blog/relevantinfo2 www.sitea.com/blog/relevantinfo3 I think this would seriously help our browsers and potential customers get all of the information that they need, but what do you think Google would think about this cross-linking and if it violates their guidelines? Thanks for any opinions and advice.

Can panda penalize News publisher sites?
Hey Guys,I was wondering how Panda behaves with news publisher sites.A site with +-1M visits a day that publishes +-300 news articles a day and the life of each article is one week top, given the nature of a news articles -->only relevant now. After one week the the news articles have virtually no page views. This results on a site with thousands of quality content pages that has no page views for years. Is it possible that the site gets penalized by panda for having thousands of pages with no visits?

Can I have an http AND a https site on Google Webmaster tools
My website is https but the default property that was configured on Google WMT was http and wasn't showing me any information because of that. I added an https property for that, but my question is: do I need to delete the original HTTP or can I leave both websites?

Deindexed site - is it best to start over?
A potential client's website has been deindexed from Google. We'd be completely redesigning his site with all new content. Would it be best to purchase a new url and redirect the old deindexed site to the new one, or try stick with the old domain?

How can I use a keyword based domain to rank for my existing site?
Hi everyone, From my understanding if your keywords are in your domain name it can help you rank for the keyword. My site www.pixelchefs.com was affected from the latest Google Algorithm changes, as I used my main site as a testing ground for all my back linking. Our site was a single page with Jquery slide, late February the same time with the Google algo changes we uploaded our new site, larger site with lots of pages and info. Result of that was that home page has PR3 and all other pages PR0. Well I don't really depend on Google for any work as most of my work comes from referrals.......but While searching for names for my private page I came across the domain name www.DesignOrlando.com, The specific keyword gets 22,210 view per month according to Google analytics and also contains part of the keyword for all the keywords I am after. I want to use the domain name for my main site but i am not sure what is the best way to forward the domain so Google can start reading my site as DesignOrlando.com Any Suggestions will be very appreciated.
