Would the same template landing page (placed on 50+ targeted domains) help or hurt my ranking?
-
Scenario: Company ABC has 50 related domains that are being forwarding to the main company URL.
Q1: Would there be SEO value by creating a template landing page for each domain that includes product info, photos and keyword links to the main URL?
Q2: If all 50+ landing pages were the same, would that penalize the main site due to duplicate content?
-
I would them expire and spend the money savings on beer.
And, spend the time savings improving my main website.

Thanks so much for your responses. I was just wondering if there are any acceptable methods for using these URL's to create value. But from the Google article, it looks like they are frowned upon. Good to know.

Exactly, a good answer from Ryan there. Best to avoid doing this type of SEO in any shape or form.

Hi Brian
As tempting as it may be, this would run a high risk of being classed as Domain Spamming, by creating Doorway Pages that link through to the real website for the purposes of trying to manipulate natural search rankings.
At best there would be some short-term SEO benefits, it's not considered to be ethical SEO though and chances are it would end up back-firing in the medium term, doesn't take that long these days for the main search engines to notice this kind of practice and to apply penalities.
Best bet is to spend the time creating valuable unique content and to distribute it well & obtain high quality natural links that way.
Hope that helps,
Regards
Simon

The process you are describing is doorway pages. Google penalizes doorway pages and you will certainly be discovered.
Doorway pages can easily be discovered simply by the fact you all link to the same site. Using the same template, common IP address, common registration information, etc are all other possibilities as well.
Your issues are not duplicate content nor varying the template, it is a clearly black hat technique which will lead to a penalty on your site.

Best practice to preserve the link juice to internal pages from expired domain?
This question relates to setting up an expired domain, that already has quality links, including deep links to internal pages. Since the new site structure will be different, what's the best practice to preserve the link juice to these internal pages? Export all the internal pages linked to using majestic Seo/ ahrefs etc, and set these pages previously linked to? Or 301 redirect these pages to home page? I heard there's a Wordpress plugin that 301 redirects all the 404 errors successfully preserving all the potential link juice.

Thin Content Pages: Adding more content really help?
Hello all, So I have a website that was hit hard by Panda back in 2012 November, and ever since the traffic continues to die week by week. The site doesnt have any major moz errors (aside from too many on page links). The site has about 2,700 articles and the text to html ratio is about 14.38%, so clearly we need more text in our articles and we need to relax a little on the number of pictures/links we add. We have increased the text to html ratio for all of our new articles that we put out, but I was wondering how beneficial it is to go back and add more text content to the 2,700 old articles that we have just sitting. Would this really be worth the time and investment? Could this help the drastic decline in traffic and maybe even help it grow?

Do shady backlinks actually damage ranking?
That is, it looks like a whole bunch of sites got smacked around the penguin/panda updates, but is this by virtue of actually being hurt by google's algorithms, or by virtue of simply not being helped "as much"? That is, was it a matter of the sites just not having any 'quality' backlinks, having relied on things google no longer liked, which would result in not having as much to push them to the top? That is, they would have been in the same position had they not had those shoddy practices? Or was google actively punishing those sites? That is, are they worse off for having those shoddy practices? I guess the reason I ask is I'm somewhat terrified of going "out there" to get backlinks -- worst case scenario: would it just not do much to help, or would it actually hurt? Thanks!

How Fast Can You Rank a New Domain?
How long would it take to get a 1 page ranking for a new site after Penguin? Thinking about starting fresh. New site would have fresh content and keyword in the domain.

How does someone rank page one on google for one domain for over 150 keywords?
A local seo is exclaiming his fantastic track record for a pool company(amonst others) in our local market. Over 150 keywords on page one of google. I checked out a few things using some moz tools and didn't find anything that would suggest that this has come from white hat strategies, tactics or links etc. Interested in how he is doing this and if it is white hat? Thanks, C
