RSS Hacking Issue
-
Hi
Checked our original rss feed - added it to Google reader and all the links go to the correct pages, but I have also set up the RSS feed in Feedburner. However, when I click on the links in Feedburner (which should go to my own website's pages) , they are all going to spam sites, even though the title of the link and excerpt are correct.
This isn't a Wordpress blog rss feed either, and we are on a very secure server.
Any ideas whatsoever? There is no info online anywhere and our developers haven't seen this before.
Thanks

Thanks so much for your help - I think this should fix it. You've saved me hours of time. It's our own cms so I should be able to fix it today.
-
I don't think you're being linked to spam, specifically. What you're seeing is the Feedburner page linking your post titles to feeds.feedburner.com/[whatever the guid of the post is] -- URLs of different feeds from different sites entirely.
I believe this is the problem referenced in the FeedBurner FAQ - http://www.google.com/support/feedburner/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=79014&topic=13190 - "Why don't my feed content item links work?"
In which case, the isPermalink attribute on the feed guids should be false. I'd post about this on the support forum for your CMS.
-
Mmm, actually maybe if I change that guid entry that came up in the validator to false that will fix it?
-
Some answers to your checks:
- Feed is correct - still my feed
- No FeedMedic reports -says everything is fine
- Feedburner url and url people are directed to from the blog are the same
- No malware reports
- Ran tool on blog article page, rss, feedburner page, and feedburner article link page - doesn't pick up any malware
- Validity check brings up one issue: guid must be a full URL, unless isPermaLink attribute is false:
129
- Current entry for guid for one article is <a id="l16" name="l16">
<guid ispermalink="true">129</guid>
</a>
Sure, here's the feed: http://feeds.feedburner.com/EnjoyTravelBlog (check in Chrome or IE as for some reason someone looking in Firefox didn't see them)
Here are screencasts of what I see if I click on any of the article titles:
- http://screencast.com/t/PNvrItea3ky - see articles 1 & 2
- http://screencast.com/t/bZI8qlg74 - what I see if I click on article 1 - clicking on link goes to spam site
- http://screencast.com/t/cER9Fm9RTunm - what I see if I click on article 2
Like this for every single article - even got some links to Baidu, Ebay and all sorts in there.
Would welcome suggestions on other forums to post on if this goes beyond technical seo!
-
A few avenues to check out:
- Log into your feedburner account and make sure the feed it's processing is still your blog's actual feed.
- Under feedburner's "Troubleshootize" tab, check if there are any FeedMedic reports, and under Tips and Tools run the feed validity checks.
- Check and make sure the Feedburner URL shown in your account is the same one people are being directed to on the blog.
- Go to Google Webmaster Tools. Under Diagnostics, check and see if there are any malware reports.
- Run a malware scan on the site URL and the Feedburner URL through a tool like http://sitecheck.sucuri.net/scanner/
Can you provide us more information? Screenshots showing links and the URLs they direct you to?

Duplicate content issues... en-gb V en-us
Hi everyone, I have a global client with lots of duplicate page issues, mainly because they have duplicate pages for US, UK and AUS... they do this because they don't offer all services in all markets, and of course, want to show local contact details for each version. What is the best way to handle this for SEO as clearly I want to rank the local pages for each country. Cheers

Woocommerce URL Structure Issue
Hi everyone ! To put you in context, I am doing an audit on an E-Commerce site selling auto parts with WooCommerce. I have some concerns regarding the url structure and here's why: Product category page url: /auto/drivetrain/cv-axle-shaft-assembly/
Technical SEO | | alexrbrg
Product page url included in the product category page: /product/acura-integra-cv-axle-shaft-90-01-honda-civic/ The way I see my situation is that the product page is considered by Google as an intern link and not as a page included in in the subfolder of the category page. 1. Am I right?
2. If yes, is there a solution to fix the issue with woocommerce to improve the category page ranking ? Thanks y'all !0 -
Duplicate Content Issues - Where to start???
Dear All I have recently joined a new company Just Go Holidays - www.justgoholidays.com I have used the SEO Moz tools (yesterday) to review the site and see that I have lots of duplicate content/pages and also lots of duplicate titles all of which I am looking to deal with. Lots of the duplicate pages appear to be surrounding, additional parameters that are used on our site to refine and or track various marketing campaigns. I have therefore been into Google Webmaster Tools and defined each of these parameters. I have also built a new XML sitemap and submitted that too. It looks as is we have two versions of the site, one being at www.justgoholidays.com and the other without the www It appears that there are no redirects from the latter to the former, do I need to use 301's here or is it ok to use canonicalisation instead? Any thoughts on an action plan to try to address these issues in the right order and the right way would be very gratefully received as I am feeling a little overwhelmed at the moment. (we also use a CMS system that is not particularly friendly and I think I will have to go directly to the developers to make lots of the required changes which is sure to cost - therefore really don't want to get this wrong) All the best Matt

& tags, any SEO issues?
Hi - the content on our corporate website is pretty technical, and we include chemical element codes in the text that users would search on (like S02, C02, etc.) A lot of times our engineers request that we list the codes correctly, with a on the last number. Question - does adding this code into the keyword affect SEO? The code would look like SO2. Thanks.

How unique does a page need to be to avoid "duplicate content" issues?
We sell products that can be very similar to one another. Product Example: Power Drill A and Power Drill A1 With these two hypothetical products, the only real difference from the two pages would be a slight change in the URL and a slight modification in the H1/Title tag. Are these 2 slight modifications significant enough to avoid a "duplicate content" flagging? Please advise, and thanks in advance!

Masses (5,168 issues found) of Duplicate content.
Hi Mozzers, I have a site that has returned 5,168 issues with duplicate content. Where would you start? I started sorting via High page Authority first the highest being 28 all the way down to 1. I did want to use the rel=canonical tag as the site has many redirects already. The duplicates are caused by various category and cross category pages and search results such as ....page/1?show=2&sort=rand. I was thinking of going down the lines of a URL rewrite and changing the search anyway. Is it work redirecting everything in terms of results versus the effort of changing all the 5,168 issues? Thanks sm

Issues with Google Analytics since 3/15 @ 6:00AM ET
Our site, IrishCentral.com has been experiencing issues with GA since 6:00AM ET 3/15. Our "realtime" analytics withing the new GA interface have been fine and no changes have been made to the site code at all. I'm wondering if anyone else is experiencing these issues and if there is a resolution. We are fine w/o them as long as we know that the aggregation of the data is delayed and not forgotten. We are reaching 1 million uniques this month and would be a shame to lose this data. Any help is greatly appreciated. Joe
