Back-link Quantity
-
Hi there,
I am writing a post for a well respected blog in our industry. I'm debating on either to target 1 key-phrase in this post with an external back-link, or to go target 2-3 back-links in the post. Just a few questions on this:
- Would including 1 external back link be more beneficial than having 2 or 3 external back-links in the post?
Kind Regards

It does matter where. The higher in content is considered by most to be better than lower. I use the example of first paragraph better than second better than third...

I had a little experimentaiton with this one and according to my results there is difference, but you can try it yourself if you can post an article somewhere where you are able to put in extra links later

Yes, I have read time and time again that if two links on an article are going to the same page, the first link is the one that counts, however I am not sure there is much proof that this is the case, or is there?

Thanks for your reply Robert.
100% Agree with everything you said.
What about this one, does it matter where the anchor text is positioned in the article? Does it carry more weight being at the top of the article if the article is lets say 1000 words long? Have you had experience of this?
Kind Regards

Good point Zsolt. Then, if you have a page that really needs the full value, use only links to that page with appropriate anchor text (so one is likely better than two to same page - but I can't prove that). If it is ok for your needs to spread some love to a couple of pages, you can.

Another thing to take into consideration that always a given amount of a pages own page rank is forwarded to the page you link to. So if you have a page with a PR of 2 and have 20 outbound links, the pagerank the actual page forwards will be divided equally between the 20 links, provided you place one link. If you place more links than the second one pointing to your site will carry slightly less value than the first one did (but will carry some), although it will carry anchor value. So, agreeing with Robert: don't look spammy, but you can take placing more links into consideration.

Gary,
Since you say it is a well respected blog in your industry (or,even if it weren't), I would think that decision would be based on what you are posting on. If it is a short post on a very specific subject (and assuming the content is quality) I would suggest one unless something in it would be clarified or elucidated by another link. You can put more in a longer post without it looking spammy.
Content is King, so don't put any in just to put some in. If they make sense to be there they are more likely to be shared by those reading the post. If they are superfluous, they are likely to be annoying. A personal opinion is that on a short post I find it distracting to see multiple backlinks.

Link Exchange
Is link exchange always bad? What if I want to add a link for other related products on my site which I do not offer, and the other site does the same for me? Will it be better to rather an article for each other product and link to somebody, than have one page with a list of other products to other sites. For example. We do training. Lets say we offer computer training. We search companies that does health and safety training offer to put their course on our site with a link to them, if they do the same.

Back link from site with DA of 72 to a website domain. Clicking on the link redirects to our website not the attended one.
Hi,

I've ran a back link check and discovered a good back link to a site which then gets redirected back to my company's website. I have a feeling that an old SEO agency has purchased a small website which has a decent link back from a relevant organisation with a high Domain authority and then redirects the domain to our website to get the link juice. What are your thought on this? Is this really bad practise and possibly damaging? Thanks, Jim0 -
Reddit LInks
Are Reddit links worthwhile? I hear they are sometimes follow and sometimes not follow. Also what about links verses self links? I'm pretty handy with reddit so I can probably make content that would actually be upvoted a lot. Let me know, thanks.

Will short linking to my site affect SERPs attribution of inbound link?
Some brand partners are using their short links to link back to our site (like bit.ly but they have their own). They have a high domain authority and trust so we want that link back to be read by Google. When I downloaded all inbound links from Moz, this brand's site was not listed, making me worried that the inbound link isn't being seen or considered! Haven't been able to find any info on this...

Is a no-follow link/sponsored link a good editorial link?
Ok maybe this is a dumb question. I really need some better, more quality backlinks pointing to my site. There is a site that has domain authority of 72, page rank 5 that is offering me a sponsored blog post. Do sponsored posts count as a good editorial link? Also what if they are no-follow (and how would I find out ahead of time), does that still give me link juice?

I don't know if i should post my articles to other forums or sharing sites to create back links?
All the articles on my blog are written on my own. I write about 5 ones per month. I don't know if i should post my articles to other forums or sharing sites to create back links? I have heard that it may cause adverse effect because my blog will be crawled more slowly than those forums, so Google will consider the articles on my blog (as) copies. Is that right?
