Where do you Peoples Get Keyword Ideas?

Hey everybody,
I thought I would get your opinions on the sites where you like to mine keyword phrases.
Before determining competition, I like to get ideas from the Adwords Tool, Keyword Optimizer Pro (a Google suggest scraper), Insights, Trends, and by looking at the phrases competitors are optimized for.
How about you guys?

Some of the paid services functionality overlap moz.com so it would not be worth paying just for just a keyword suggestion/scraper tool in my opinion.

I start with my brain and then use adwords keyword tool to set priorities. If you know your content area well then that should be enough to do the job.
If you don't know the content niche then snoop some competitor sites - the ones that you think are the most successful and dominating the SERPs.

As I got my coffee and realized the news of the world had not changed I opened up the computer and saw your question. I immediately thought of one not mentioned in your list: WordTracker. I just started using it so jury is out and I still like keywords tool. James Norquay did a nice post on youmoz on advanced keyword research that is worth the read.
Before I wrote a response to your question I was struck by how it was Christmas and I was looking at work. But, it really isn't work to me. (And we do our celebrating on Christmas Eve for any who think I may be a Grinch). So, I started writing about keywords and Christmas. Sorry, I just couldn't help myself.
As the family rises for Christmas,,,much slower than me,
I jump on the moz to see what could be key.
One clients a lawyer, another sells skis,
I just gotta wonder what words will be keys?To find one a case or the other a sale,
Then my clients smile brighter, and don't send me hate mail.
My PPC group has it easy you see,
Just send them some money as leads they aren't free!I tell clients slow down, analyze and take heed,
If you slow down a bit - less money you'll need.
I understand well, you just want it now,
but you gave me a field, and it has to get plowed.
It's a field full of holes and rocks, and nothing that matches.
but we'll find a way when an idea catches.Then you'll call me brilliant, "those records he smashes!!"

Adwords tool for me also. Once signed in you get 800 results which is more than enough to get going with. Used to use Wordze but the less said about the quality of their results these days, the better!

Hi, Let' say one of the topics I want to talk about is "wine tasting2. I do a search in the keywords tool and I find related keywords such as "wine tasting chicago" and all the words that I find do not apply to me because I do "wine tastings in Bordeaux". How do I deal in a situation like that ? Can I type in the keyword tool "wine tasting bordeaux" even though my topic is wine tasting ? I took "wine tasting" but I could apply that to the word "chateaux" where none of the related keywords apply to me. I run into issues when the topics are "large". The other question I have is still about "wine tasting" if I find secondary related keywords that apply to me such a "wine tasting in bordeaux", "wine tasting cellars" do I still need to add in my content the word "wine tasting" by itself in addition to the 2 related keywords or can I just only put the 2 related keywords ? I'm optimizing this page: http://gainesvilleholistichealthcare.com/treatment-options/acupuncture/ This is for a local, Gainesville, Fl acupuncturist. The words that show the most search volume on GKT for the city of gainesville are "acupuncture" followed by "acupuncture gainesville fl". Will optimizing for "Acupuncture in gainesville" or "Your Gainesville Florida Acupuncture solution" optimize it for both of these important terms? I guess my question really is, how specific does the match between the searcher's phrase and the KW's I use need to be.

i am trying to figure out what would be good keywords to optimize for an orthodontist. i looked up the keywords "his city + orthodontist" or " his city + braces" and the google adword tool tells me there are no monthly searches for those terms. i am not sure what i can optimize for if no one is searching for the most obvious keywords.

Is there a good way to get the list of keywords that bring the most traffic to a competing website?
Listing your most "popular" keywords is easy when you have an "old" website, but when you start out, it's not always easy. We obviously have a list of keywords, as well as various versions for each of them, but we have a hard time assessing which ones are the most popular. Also, we may be missing some. It would be handy to know which keywords are bringing the most traffic to our competitors. Is that even possible?
