How does SEOMoz get ranking data? is it automated queries to Google?
-
Google's terms don't allow automated queries without Google's permission. https://support.google.com/webmasters/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=66357
How does SEOMoz get ranking data then? Is it sending automated queries with or without Google's permission? is it violating Google's guideline? Will it affect my site performance as far as rankings?

What about now since Google has revoked SEOMoz's AdWords API?

You've touched on a tricky and delicate issue. As you've noted, Google's TOS specifically forbid automated queries, but rank checking services all over the world need to collect this data.
Although I can't tell you exactly how SEOmoz does it (it's part of the secret sauce), I can tell you it's done in a manner that's as Google friendly as possible - we want to stay on their good side.
Rest assured that the rank checking SEOmoz does will not effect your site in anyway. In fact, because SEOmoz is checking keywords (some you don't even rank for) and not your site specifically, there is no way to associate the queries with your website. This is one of the advantages of using a 3rd party rank checker.

Yeah, no worries! It won't affect your site. Imagine if it did, all our competitors would run a bot on each other to wipe everyone out.
-
Well i can tell you that Gooogle are quite aware of SEOMoz so one would assume they have permission to do what they do,and no it would not affect your rankings, if there was any problem it would be with the appKey holder.
notice that rankings are done on the first 50 results, you can do that with Bing and Goolge API in one query, i think what they do not like is continuis queries untill you find your result that may never happen.

Meta Robots query
Hi guys, I was ranking really well on my home page for certain keywords which has all dropped pretty dramatically over the last 3/4 weeks - I think the issue is since since the configuration of Yoast SEO Wordpress plugin. In March (when my rankings were strong) my crawl test showed the top data in the attached image, and in May (now the rankings have dropped severly) they show the bottom data. I don't fully understand canonical and Meta Robots so I am hoping someone can shed some light on the following points. 1. Will the change result in my loss of rankings.

2. How can I put it back to how it was in March? PS. I haven't had any Google penalties. Thanks,

Internal Links Data on OSE and poor ranking despite excellent metrics
Hi folks, I use OSE a lot for comparing where we stand against our competitors and I'm always surprised to see most of our competitors have loads more internal links than we do. For example, comparing 'www.kensyard.co.uk' with 'www.sterlingbuild.co.uk', we are better on every Root Domain Metric except for the Total Links metric and this is down to a much smaller number of internal links. They are ranking better than us in Google so I'm wondering if there is something wrong with the way our site is coded / structured that means Google and OSE are not picking up our internal link network properly? We have over nine times as many external root domains linking to our site than theirs, which is surely a far more valuable metric than internal links right? Or is there an issue with our internal link structure that is confusing Google and causing us to rank lower? Many thanks for any advice, Luke

Does SEOmoz have a Keyword Research tool similar to, say, the Google AdWords tool or the WebCEO Keyword Research Tool? And where might that be? (Sorry, I'm very new to SEOmoz Pro.)
I'm looking for an SEOmoz version of the classic WebCEO Keyword Research that would give you effective suggestions based on a keyword inquiry. I've made the switch from WebCEO, but I'm trying to find something similar to that Keyword Research tool. Am I going to just need to use the Google AdWords tool for this function or does SEOmoz have it's own version?

Mixed up Rankings
I was checking my ranking reports and double checking them on Google to see if it match. My rankings was updated today on seomoz and almost none of the rankings match the real thing. For example I have a rank that in seomoz says 9th place and i am checking it at google and it says 6th. Is there a possible explanation? I am in a need of an answer as soon as possible. Thanks in Advance

Keyword Rankings Question
Does the Keyword Rankings tool track all urls or just the main. Example: Say I put www.domain.com to have tracked. Will the Keyword Rankings tool also track www.domain.com/landing-page and any derivative of the main domain or would this be considered a separate campaign. Thanks
