WMT tools - setting parameter for redirected URLs
-
Hi everybody.
One of our clients has recently moved from one ecommerce platform to another. During the move, a huge number of URLs have been tidied up to remove dynamic parameters. The old URLs have been redirected to the new, tidy ones.
My question is whether it's worth telling Google in the WMT URL parameters section not to index the parameters of the old URLs. Will this affect the redirects in any way?
Thanks!

Well, if the redirects have been made correctly such that, for example:
http://www.domain.com/product?name=shiny-shoe
is redirected to:
http://www.domain.com/product/shiny-shoe
Then the parameters are not an issue?
But if you are still passing the url parameters on top of the new tidy URLs i would most definately tell Google not to index the parameters. You can either do this in GWT or you can perhaps add a canonical link to each product page?
Best regards,
Rasmus

UTM parameter problem
Hi guys, Google Search Console gives me an error on these pages: info:https://www.conversal.be/?utm_content=bufferbaaa4&utm_medium=social&utm_source=plus.google.com&utm_campaign=buffer info:https://www.conversal.be/?utm_content=bufferece3f&utm_medium=social&utm_source=plus.google.com&utm_campaign=buffer I see there's an UTM tracking in the URL from Google+. We do have an account there but I don't see how this might give an error. Is this hurting our ranking score? How can we solve this?

Need advice on setting up primary domain and shopify site analytics to work best together
Hello, I have a client that I have been working on their primary site for the last year or so. In the last month they decided to have one of their internal employees setup a small shopify store. Now they are asking for the analytics tracking codes for it. My question for you is what would be the best way for me to set that up? variables: primary domain and shopify domain, google and bing analytics Have been looking at how cross domain tracking works (https://support.google.com/tagmanager/answer/6106951), and the instructions for setting up ecommerce in analytics for shopify (https://help.shopify.com/manual/reports-and-analytics/google-analytics/google-analytics-setup). But am still not 100% which route would be the best, any input would be greatly appreciated! thank you, Dustin

Adding a Query String to a Static URL is that good or bad?
I just went through this huge process to shorten my URL structure and remove all dynamic strings. Now my analytics team wants to add query strings to track clicks from the homepage. Is this going to destroy my clean url structure by appending a query string to the end of the URL structure.

Webmaster Tools V. OSE Backlinks to Disavow
Hey Everybody, So I am getting to the point where I need to disavow some backlinks. I am noticing a discrepancy between the OSE backlinks and the GWMT backlinks. My question is do I put both sets of links in the Disavow tool? Just the links from GWMT? Just the links from OSE? Etc... Etc... Thanks Everybody!

I keep getting this error though I have confirmed I have the correct information. Any recommendations?

Setting up goals in Google Analytics
Hello! This question is seems so obvious that I'm also ashamed to ask... almost. If the goal of a website is to have a visitor complete a contact form, when setting up the Goal in Google Analytics (as a "URL destination") the URL of choice would be the form's thank you page, correct? Because that's the page that proves the visitor completed the task we want them the achieve. Right? Thanks!

Glitch in Webmaster Tools?
This is REALLY STRANGE! Ok, so I checked my website's overall impressions this AM in Webmaster Tools and it was 18,000 (usually always is in that range slightly plus or minus). I just decided to go into WMT again and now it's 2,500 HOWEVER it shows that the past days and months impressions even far back are 2,500. This doesn't make sense! All the "peaks" are the same, but just lower. Another weird thing, I had 6,000 queries this AM (now it is showing 798). Is anyone else noticing this too?
