Link from Dr. Oz web site not being seen, what are we doing wrong?
-
Newbie so this may be SEO 101...
Quick back story: My wife Lauri is a Dream Expert who has been on over 5,000 radio shows, TV shows like Good Morning America, the Today show, the View, in major magazines and newspapers, the list goes on and on, I'm not bragging actually the opposite. Lauri barely exists online and to top it off we don't seem to be getting any "link juice" from some big sites that have linked to us.
Here is just one example of many:
Our site: theDreamZone.com
Here is a page on Dr Oz site that links to us, anchor text at top right "Click here":
When you use On site Explorer this link isn't there, what are we doing wrong?
Our plan is to build a new site (LauriTheDreamExpert.com) and get these links and many others pointing to us correctly so she can get the exposure she's earned.
Lauri was also on the Dr Oz TV show : Watch it if you like.
Thanks for any wisdom,
Mike

Hi Mike. I've sent you a couple of personal messages. Give me a shout back when you can.

Honestly, it's a bit overwhelming which is why I think we need some help to make the right moves. I will keep reading as you recommend.
Thanks so much for your responses.

Hi Mike. Now we're getting into robots.txt, noindex, nofollow, follow tags etc. There's a lot of information regarding these tags and what they mean.
Use the search tool above and search robots, nofollow, noidex etc. You'll find a lot of posts and links that describe what they mean to Google and how they they should be used.
If you haven't already, you might load the mozbar and use the highlighter tool to quickly check links, view source code etc.
There's a lot to explore and understand.

Check out this from Rand: http://www.seomoz.org/blog/determining-whether-a-page-site-passes-link-juice
-
And that page doesn't say "no index" so why aren't we getting any juice for that?
-
Google "dr oz videos" and you will go to the page preceding Lauri's book page you referenced. The link that goes to Lauri's site is at this Oz page: http://www.doctoroz.com/book/dream-it.
I got to the page selling your wife's book by Googling: dr oz lauri loewenberg.
-
They want the page before it seen on search.
-
Another example to our other site:
This site has us linked but we don't see them in the On Site Exploreer.
I didn't see the no-index tag
-
Why would they do that? Don't they want the page seen on search?
-
Hi Mike. Right click on Dr. Oz page with your link on it. In the popup, select "view page source." It will open up a page with a bunch of code on it. On line 9 you will see the no index tag.
When checking links, I typically check the profile in open site explorer and Webmaster tools in Analytics.
-
The head section of this page has:
NAME="ROBOTS" CONTENT="NOINDEX">
Which is why this page is not indexed by Google too.

Link Profile - What is Good or Bad?
How can I tell (using Moz tools) which links are okay or not? Looking at them, some are clearly just for rank, but are they worth my effort in removing them? And, if I remove a bunch of links suddenly, will Google penalize me? And how do I know if my link profile is to blame? My site was ranking pretty well in June and has steadily fallen around 4-5 spots across all of my keywords. Some of my competitors without as good of DA, PA and links are outranking me.

About how long does it take Google WMT to refresh stats on "Links to Your Site"?
About how long does it take Google WMT to refresh stats on "Links to Your Site"? We're dealing with an unnatural link/anchor phrase issue and I'm curious as to the "typical" time it takes for Google to recognize the links removal or Anchor Text change. Any refresh time ideas on OpenSiteExplorer or AHREFS as well would be a plus... Thanks! What are no followed links?
Hi there, probably this is so self explaining that I didn't find it described in the tutorial about learning to use PRO or here in Q&Α. But remember, there is no dumb question 🙂 What are the followed vs no followed links? I understand followed links as backlinks to my site, but what is a no followed link? Thank you in advance!
