I am trying to find high quality directories to submit links, finding it really hard to find them!!
Has anyone got any advise for seeking out such sites! I have tried the tool within SEOMOZ but to be honest did not really work that well!
thanks

Hi Diane. Its not $20 per url but per campaing. For free you can submit into 150 directories. For 20$ you can submit into all the directories in the program database.

just been looking at fast submitter which charges $20 a url. has anyone used this and if so is it any good, did anyone notice a difference to traffic and ranking

Thanks Keri

Here's a recent post about best practices for link building with directories that might help you.

Fast dir. submitter allows you to specify several titles and descriptions and to change them during the process. I think it would be better to submit to few directories per day with random titles and descriptions.

Hey, Thanks for the link is it ok to submit your site to almost any directories you can find? or does Google look at it as spaming or something ?

Thanks that is a great help.
Regarding Majestics, I really cannot afford to pay for any other seo tools at the moment!

You need to do abit of research to create a solid list. (1) Search for "directory website lists" on google. Probably the best but most time consuming. (2) You can also have a go at this site - http://www.linkbuilderstoolkit.com/ however there will be a few expired sites since it hasnt been updated in a while. (3) Another way is to view your clients Google Webmaster Tools account and pull the external links pointing to the site. Then use Majestics Clique Hunter to compare with other similar competitors to find new linking opportunities. Hope this helps, Vahe

Is it worth to get links from startup directorys?
Hi, I have a startup that connects people with lawyers. There are a lot of directories of startups. These are legitimate directories and not like the spammy directories. Is it worth getting links from these types of directories? Let me know.

Paid directory links
Just going through my competitors back links, and discovered a couple of directories who charge a small fee for a listing (£20) (one way link) or a free listing (with a reciprocal link) they both have PR of 50 so I was wondering are these type of links still worth it? Best wishes. David.

Why don't directory backlinks show up in Open Link Explorer?
Why don't we see linking root domains like yelp, google, yahoo, etc? Is there any way to get a more accurate list of links to a domain where webmaster tools are not an option?

How do directories that pull listings from DMOZ work?
I've listed an example below. I see these all the time, where a directory pulls it's listings from DMOZ. So you would naturally assume that if you're in DMOZ, you would get these links, but that's not the case. This particular link was picked up by OSE so I'm wondering what the quality of these links really are and if they're legit? Also, if you go to the main subdomain the page just says "Buy shirts". What is the deal with these types of so-called "directories"? http://www.searches.org/go/search/Shopping/Home_and_Garden/Furniture/ Another example: http://www.westcairn.com/furniture.htm

Link Bait - Directory Style Resources Page
Hello Mozzers! Basically I want to add a beefed up "resources" page (directory style) to my site to attract in bound links. Below is an example of a site that has a similar directory style resources area. http://www.petfinder.com/shelters.html I was thinking that it might be good to add a resource box in my site footer with links to these resource pages such as: 1) Dog breeder resources
Link Building | | k9byron
2) Dog training resource
3) Dog shelters/kennels
4) Pet health resources
5) Pet care resources And funnel links to my category pages from there .. I was looking for some feedback or any tips or the best way to go about doing this and if anyone knew of a SE friendly script or something that that I might be able to integrate with my site (x-cart / PHP) platform that would make it easy to populate / update, ect Below is a paste of how one person I talked to envisions it: I'd suggest building some pages of value, such as dog resources pages (rescue groups & resources, etc.), adoption resources, etc. I'd guarantee if the resources were very comprehensive and built correctly, you'd get more bang for the buck versus throwing hundreds (or even thousands) away on sub-par links. Case:
http://www.tnj.com/black-history-makers/major-inventions-african-americans (a simple test content page to show this client we could build lifetime links with a few hours of work for a decent-sized resource page) Although very ugly, this is more of a gold mine for links taking the example above:
http://www.enchantedlearning.com/inventors/black.shtml This is just one simple example but I hope you get the concept versus ongoing payments for junk links. The more links you get to internal pages - even the resource guide pages - the more opportunity to link back to core product pages contextually or within the content portion of the page of side columns. The goal is to create funneled links from these resource pages back to your other pages, but doing it in a manner that's not outlandish or spammy in nature.0 -
