Natural Backlink
-
What is a natural backlink? is it a backlink that someone gave a site for their great content? (this is what my common sense tells me)
and this is what someone else's opinion is:
No, quality backlinks are the one which are highly relevant, is from a high PR page. However, a natural backlink is the one which is within the body of the page, which is surrounded by relevant text, you can also call it a contextual link. Except links which are placed on a resource page which have no content in it and links which are placed under blogroll etc.
this dosent even make sense to me : )

Natural backlinks are links that are created to your site without you doing anything to request or buy them. They could be in content, in sidebar or anywhere on the linking site. These links are usually EARNED but sometimes the linking site is scraper that does not wash out links. Natural links are usually high quality but they might not be.
Quality backlinks are links that might provide traffic or help your site advance in the search engines. They can be high PR links on relevant sites but they don't have to be. A link from an obscure page on the Pope's site might not be relevant and might not be high PR but I bet it would help your Google rankings.

The impression I got was the following
Natural backlink - One you have received in an article, blog post etc about you're quality content that you haven't had to ask for.
Quality backlink - One from a page with high authority that provides a good amount of 'link juice' - Doesn't have to be from a page with a high PR, but people usually use that as a signal that the site has high authority.
Although I could be wrong.

I would say you are right, may descriptions of natural backlinks are written by copywriters and not actual SEO experts.
A natural backlink is simply a link from the main content area of a blog, page or article (eg: Not from the footer, sidebar or header section but rather from the part of the page where the main information is presented)
One of the best ways to get natural backlinks is by writing quality content that others want to write about and give you credit for. Another great way to get natural backlinks is to guest blog.

What to do about real backlinks spiraling out of control and affecting domain trust flow
I have a site with a few hundred thousand backlinks and many of these are are legitimate, but the source site of the backlink often has a low authority and is broken, causing a spiral of bad backlinks from pagination, comment replies, etc. For example one site may have 4 legitimate backlinks with a spiral of 400+ bad backlinks, this is happening across dozens of domains. My site is more authoritative than these broken backlinks and regularly receives highly authoritative backlinks, because of this would it be best to disavow these spiraling low authority domains, attempt to contact the webmaster and add a nofollow, or any other solution?

Why Doesn't Moz Use Wistia Backlink Embed Feature
I am using Wistia videos for my website and they have an embed feature which gives option to include a backlink to one's site, which I thought was great. I took a random Moz whiteboard Friday video (http://moz.com/blog/what-should-i-put-on-the-homepage-whiteboard-friday) and I do not see the backlink feature if I click on "embed" button below the video. Question: why would Moz not use such feature? Bad SEO or simply because Moz does not need it?

Are This Site's Backlinks Hurting Us?
Google WMT reports more than 198,000 backlinks to our site (www.audiobooksonline.com) from http://dilandau.eu/? We have never been notified by Google of any penalty, malware notification... but continue to struggle to get our page 1 Google ranking back since Panda. Could these backlinks be hurting our Google ranking? Should I implement a disavow rule for http://dilandau.eu/?

Looking to increase the quality of our backlinks with a press release: Business wire or Prweb?
Hello all! We are looking to increase the quality of backlinks to our new website www.unitedfitnessmarketing.com and wondering which service would be more beneficial. Care to share any preferences or advice? We have been live for about 3 1/2 months now. We are in a tough niche to find related backlinking websites. We are in the health club marketing consulting field. I just paid for a business.com listing but was thinking a quality press release would give me more juice. My competitors have used free press release services so I'm thinking I could easily one-up them and gain some ground in the rankings. Leaning more towards business wire b/c it's a berkshire hathaway company but would like more input. Thanks!
