How does a Mega Site like WikiHow does it link building ?
Just curios ... might learn a bit or two about SEO

For informational and educational websites like wikihow.com - links come naturally and easily as compared to other biz/ecom websites.
Wikihow has over 1,800 backlinks from Educational / university sites, and over 200 links from Government sites and that speaks a lot about their content. This is not to say that they can skip link building strategies, but it is just a lot easier to get links for such websites.
Mashable links to them: http://mashable.com/2009/02/18/how-to-guide/ , and so does Google: http://www.google.com/adplanner/static/top1000/
In short, the quantity and the quality of their content does the link building for them to a major extent.

Opinions On Resource-Page Linkbuilding
Hi, I'm just looking to get some opinions on resource-page linkbuilding. These are links you would gain from sites when you use the following type of search operators: "keyword" + inurl:links

"keyword" + "helpful links"
... and so on... What do you think Google's thoughts on this subject would be when a large portion of the pages returned are long lists of links - usually these will be the title of the page linked to as well as either a bare link or an anchor text link. In some instances a short description of the page linked to would also be there. Are these long-term links that will continue to be relevant and worth spending time on for linkbuilding, or are these going to be see by Google as lower-quality links and potentially unnatural ? For example, Google's page on link schemes states; "Low-quality directory or bookmark site links" may violate their guidelines. Do you think that in some cases, resource pages may be seen as somewhat fitting this description? Thanks! [Edit] I have also found this comment from a Moz post 4 years ago, but cannot find any other reference to John commenting on resource pages: "A while back, someone asked John Mueller in a hangout about the benefits of getting a link on an outdated resource page and the answer was that if it is a link that never gets clicked on then it's probably not passing a lot of value."1 -
Root-Domain vs Subdomain Linkbuilding
Hello Mozzers! Couple of days ago I received a request to start optimizing a wordpress website, the domain itself has been around for around 10-12 years so it's it can be considered as one that has real history behind it. Â The page has been moved from HTML/FLASH to wordpress about 3 - 4 years ago and hasn't been any SEO maintenance on it. The site used to rank for first position with several keywords, but now understandably, it has greatly decreased. My main question would be, that when I've checked the root domain's and the subdomain's metrics with MOZ Open Site Explorer, the sub domain (with "www.") showed a PA 40 and 90 external links while the root domain (without "www.") only has 27 PA and 6 External links. I know that the 301 or server redirects only transfers about 90% of the link juice to the targeted URL but the difference between the 2 results seem way too big for me. What do you think? Is this normal?

During future link building is it more beneficial to target the root domain so the page won't lose that "10%" by redirecting the new link from sub-domain to root domain?
Is it possible to get more juice transferred? Thank you very much,

Linkbuilding backlinks list to linkpartnes embed in website?
We do backlinking for clients. And for this we also create a backlink page for linkingpartners (afcorse not all link have a backlink). For easy maintaince it would be handy if we can create a page on our server that is embed on the website of our clients. Is it possible to do this so there is no negative SEO? (google will rate this page and the content perfectly) best regards, Vincent
