Using follow links on client and resellers site
-
Hi, i have a backup software product that I sell to business.
I would like to create a badge that says something like "powered by x backups". This would be an image with a href url pointing back to my company site. I would intend to give the client a discount if they were to place the small logo in the footer section of their website. I would also like to offer this to resellers. For example "Authorised reseller of x backups" badge that could be placed on the resellers website.
I would like to do this for two reasons:
- To promote my company to the visitors of the clients website
- To build link juice
Would this be effective in building quality links? It this type of link building allowed by google? If not, how strict are they? Is there any variation of my intended promotion strategy that would be more effective?
Thanks

Adam,
I think as long as you are up front about it to each, it is a good way to build links. As a footer link, it won't have near the strength as if you said just above the footer for example. For the reseller, I would try to get it in the main content and above the fold if at all possible.
Give it a go.

Will GA Autotrack affect affiliate sites not using autotrack?
I want to add autotrack.js to affiliate quote forms hosted on my site. However, I do not know how it will affect affiliate websites (not associated with my quote forms, but with the same Google Analytics code, that do not use autotrack. I read that "Autotrack is not an official Google Analytics product and does not qualify for GA Premium". Will it harm my affiliates in any way to have autotrack on their quote form but not on their websites? It will have their GA website tracking number.

Setting up external link goals in GA
I have recently switched all my travel affiliate links to TripAdvisor using their javascript code that converts the natural links (direct links to TA URLs) to affiliate links. I have set up goal tracking in GA to try to put a monetary value on clicks through to these links (based on the known conversion rate to commissionable bookings) but GA is over-reporting the goals by a very large margin. I'm wondering what I've done wrong. The first screen shot below is of the goal settings I used in GA. The second screenshot shows that GA is reporting 7125 goal completions since I set up the goal on 7 August. The third screenshot shows the actual number of GA events recorded on outbound clicks to TA URLs in the same period, which is just 97. So the goal completions being recorded far exceed the actual goal completions, but I'm not sure why. I know I've done something wrong but as this is the first time I've used goals, I'd appreciate some help to see what I've done wrong. Thank you. 3f7dc3de6f9f1373d47994144a5cb016 56aa39130a7d54b07d8f2ce9cf1d7fb0 35ee827275928ca8c4d4c941f0672ef8

How do you find Affiliate Links on your site that have not been nofollowed?
We've just signed up to an affiliate scheme because we were sending links to them because we thought their product was valuable to our users. So we now have to go through and nofollow all of these links over 100's of pages. Is there any way that do a crawl of the site to identify all links to a particular site and tell me what page they are on and whether they are nofollow/follow?

Links exchange - Penguin update potential ??
Hi Everyone, If site A and site B exchange links in the past, it used to be kind of voided. So it is a practicve that we had pretty uch put on the side. But with the new penguin update, do you guys think that if 2 web sites are contacting each other to share a link in the interest of the user that it might be a new best practice to implement? Example, Car site contact car suspension site to exchange a link on relevant content such as blog articles or specific content on a page. What are your thoughts about that ? I am curious to know if anyone is wondering abouot that... Thanks, Alex

Where to look for relevant links
I and many others are targeting keywords such as "free iphone" or "free ps3" as part of incentive marketing schemes that offer rewards for referring new users to businesses. These often seem too good to be true but actually do work (if you don't get caught up in the spam sites). The thing is, what sort of link building should I be looking at once I have my site showing the users how the opportunity works and that it is a legitimate site. I don't want to have free iphone links placed where people may think I'm scamming them, so should I look at press releases, creating infographics or what? I look forward to hearing some of your ideas...

Is "no follow"ing a folder influences also its subfolders?
I work with an affiliate site which has quite messy link structure.
Affiliate Marketing | | mgreco
The issue is that their affiliate links are www.example.com/product, which are redirected to the affiliates landing page and which are internally "no followed" The review pages are www.example.com/product/review The site is one of authority sites in their market; still, there is ranking issues with review pages, even sometimes with crawling. I have been very bothered by this and my new theory is that it is because this folder /product is nofollowed, it also affects /product/review Changing it would be insane amount of work and I would have to be sure that it is really the cause of issues, so I would really appreciate your thoughts/experience on this issue.

Best Way for Resellers to Use Outbound Links to Software Demos
I have a software reseller site that wants to have ever-present linking buttons to demos of the software they sell--the demos are on their software vendor sites. My concerns relate to SEO and leaking link juice; but, also to constantly providing visitors with the exit door. What are the best practices for such a situation?
