Getting on to page 1 again
-
I have recently set up a website, and as soon as it got indexed by google, I ranked on the first page at number 10...
However, Ever since I have started trying to backlink.. the more I seem to do, the more I seem to drop down the rankings!
The same for both Bing and Yahoo... I am really not sure what the problem is.
My site is www.arilinegamesatc.com, and the ranking words are airline games and airline game.
Any help woudl be greatly appreciated!

Ok Roland, My main guess that the position is changing due to the type of content that your blog is posting. You may have had a more relevant article on the top of the front page (it was likely the only article when you first posted). Now as you write more and more posts, you older articles move down and the relevancy of your page content changes.
I suggest you do the following:
- Make sure that the home page of your blog only shows a summary (excerpt) of the article rather than the whole article as we do not want to duplicate our content across multiple pages. You can see an example on my blog.
- Your title is very important, so rather get to the point and mention what you do right away. I suggest: Airline Games | Air Traffic Control Games (ATC) | Best Flight Sims
- I see you are using the All In One SEO Pack, I suggest you remove the keywords tags altogether as they are more a waste of time and do not affect your SEO results at all.
- You are a new blog so I suggest you write more quality content. Three articles is just not going to cut it just let. If you want to rank under "online flight sim" then you need to write a post that highlights all the top online sim games and back up your opinion with great facts.
- Try not to make your post names to similar: "The best of the airline games!" & "The History of Airline Games " are very similar.
- Are the 7 social media buttons necessary for a new blog? Rather stick to FB, Twitter & Google +1 for now until your blog becomes more popular.
When you first published you blog I am guessing that Google's FreshBot (A bot that looks for new content) was giving your pages priority as they were new and fresh (this is why we post new content). A FreshBot listing can usually puts you way up on page 1 for a few days until the Google Deepbot comes along and puts you in your rightful place. The easiest way to tell if your listing is a temporary fresh listing is to look and see if there is a time stamp on the listing (eg: Posted 2 days Ago), if there is then it is likely that Google is giving that page priority for being fresh.
So do not be discouraged, rather keep writing good content and eventually your organic listings will get stronger. There are many many signals that affect your ranking, but if you do the basics your site can perform well.

Page for page 301 redirects from old server to new server
Hi guys:
Technical SEO | | cindyt-17038
I have a client who is moving their entire ecommerce site from one hosting platform (Yahoo Store) to another (BigCommerce) and from one domain to another. The old domain is registered with the Yahoo as of yesterday and we have redirected the old domain (at the domain level) to the new domain. However, we are having trouble getting the pages to redirect page for page. Currently they are all redirecting to the new domain home page. We did just move the old domain from GoDaddy to Yahoo yesterday thinking this would solve it however as of this morning the old pages are still redirecting to the home page of the new domain. To complete the 301 redirect picture, we uploaded the redirects (all relative links for both from and to) to BigCommerce. And while the domain was hosted at GoDaddy with a redirect to the new domain, they were working. We moved the domain to Yahoo because of email issues thinking it should still work. Is it possibly just a waiting game now as the change populates across the DNS? old url to test:

Local City Pages
Anyone have any input on the tactics being used for a national company trying to target local city pages. For instance, you might be a national printing company and you are trying to compete against local printers in cities by creating a specific page for that city + print keywords.

Duplicate page errors from pages don't even exist
Hi, I am having this issue within SEOmoz's Crawl Diagnosis report. There are a lot of crawl errors happening with pages don't even exist. My website has around 40-50 pages but SEO report shows that 375 pages have been crawled. My guess is that the errors have something to do with my recent htaccess configuration. I recently configured my htaccess to add trailing slash at the end of URLs. There is no internal linking issue such as infinite loop when navigating the website but the looping is reported in the SEOmoz's report. Here is an example of a reported link: http://www.mywebsite.com/Door/Doors/GlassNow-Services/GlassNow-Services/Glass-Compliance-Audit/GlassNow-Services/GlassNow-Services/Glass-Compliance-Audit/ btw there is no issue such as crawl error in my Google webmaster tool. Any help appreciated

If my home page never shows up in SERPS but other pages do, does that mean Google is penalizing me?
So my website I do local SEO for, xyz.com is finally getting better on some keywords (Thanks SEOMOZ) But only pages that are like this xyz.com/better_widgets_ or xyz.com/mousetrap_removals Is Google penalizing me possibly for some duplicate content websites I have out there (working on, I know I know it is bad)...

Too many on page links
Hi All, As we all know, having to much links on a page is an obstacle for search engine crawlers in terms of the crawl allowance. My category pages are labeled as pages with to many "one page" links by the SEOmoz crawler. This probably comes from the fact that each product on the category page has multiple links (on the image and model number). Now my question is, would it help to setup a text-link with a clickable area as big as the product area? This means every product gets just one link. Would this help get the crawlers deeper in these pages and distribute the link-juice better? Or is Google smart enough already to figure out that two links to the same product page shouldn't be counted as two? Thanks for your replies guys. Rich

Mass 404 pages
Hi Guys, If I were to have to take down the majority of my site, taking all content and links pointing to that content down. How would the search engines react? Would I get a penalty for the majority of the site all of the sudden missing? My only concern is the loss of traffic on the remanding pages. Thanks!
