eBay and Amazon listings - Duplicate Content?
-
I used to be an ebay powerseller, an amazon affiliate and then an amazon vendor.
I am really careful around those domains. They are really powerful and can throw brand new pages high into the SERPs. So, if you make a listing there for your purple widget you could wake in the next day and the amazon page with it is above your bread and butter site in the SERPs. If you place your whole inventory there you just invited the wild hordes into your SERPs.
On ebay the more items you place into a category the more powerful that category becomes. Linking to items on either of these sites can be like waking the wolves.
I am not selling on these domains now because of the labor involved and the high fees. No regrets.
As you can see, duplicate content was the least of my worries - but in this Panda environment that makes these domains even more problematic.

Duplicate content issue
Hi, A client of ours has one URL for the moment (https://aalst.mobilepoint.be/) and wants to create a second one with exactly the same content (https://deinze.mobilepoint.be/). Will that mean Google punishes the second one because of duplicate content? What are the recommendations?

Home page duplicate content...
Hello all! I've just downloaded my first Moz crawl CSV and I noticed that the home page appears twice - one with an appending forward slash at the end: http://www.example.com

Duplicate content or Duplicate page issue?
Hey Moz Community! I have a strange case in front of me. I have published a press release on my client's website and it ranked right away in Google. A week after the page completely dropped and it completely disappeared. The page is being indexed in Google, but when I search "title of the PR", the only results I get for that search query are the media and news outlets that have reported the news. No presence of my client's page. I also have to mention that I found two URLs of the same page: one with lower case letters and one with capital letters. Is this a duplicate page or a duplicate content issue coming from the news websites? How can I solve it? Thanks!

Duplicate content q - Can search engines tell where the original text was copied from?
I was under the impression that when a search engine comes across duplicate content it won't be able to determine which one is the original. Is this not the case?

Are different IP addresses enough for sites with similar content?
Hi all We're looking at moving our 2 websites onto a cloud hosting package. The content on our sites is very similar (but not duplicated) so at the moment they are on separate servers. If we move to the cloud, is it enough for them to have different IP addresses on the same cloud system, or should we host in separate clouds? Thanks in advance Heather

Duplicate content across multiple domains
I have come across a situation where we have discovered duplicate content between multiple domains. We have access to each domain and have recently within the past 2 weeks added a 301 redirect to redirect each page dynamically to the proper page on the desired domain. My question relates to the removal of these pages. There are thousands of these duplicate pages. I have gone back and looked at a number of these cached pages in google and have found that the cached pages that are roughly 30 days old or older. Will these pages ever get removed from google's index? Will the 301 redirect even be read by google to be redirected to the proper domain and page? If so when will that happen? Are we better off submitting a full site removal request of the sites that carries the duplicate content at this point? These smaller sites do bring traffic on their own but I'd rather not wait 3 months for the content to be removed since my assumption is that this content is competing with the main site. I suppose another option would be to include no cache meta tag for these pages. Any thoughts or comments would be appreciated.
