Can bad links be removed from a website
-
An SEO company we contracted with linked us up with many poor quality sites - some in foreign countries and now our site has hundreds and thousands of poor quality links to inappropriate sites.. Is there any way to un-link from these?
Thank you!

I agree with Gareth, it's extremely difficult to impossible in many cases to have these backlinks removed from other sites. I had the same thing happen to a company and have spent countless hours emailing websites and their hosts with little success and to this day have probably only had 10-20% of them removed. I've had to force myself to forget about them and simply try harder to achieve high quality backlinks to neutralize the negative effects of the bad ones.
Needless to say, it's a sucky position to be in... be careful about hiring an SEO company. There are more bad ones than good.

If these are links TO other poor quality sites from your site then you should be able to just take them out of the code. If they're links FROM the poor quality sites, then yes, like Gareth said it's a matter of actually getting in contact with the webmasters and requesting to be removed.

You need to contact the sites directly or tell the SEO Company to do it. Its much harder undoing low quality links than building them!!

Removing spam back links (Using GWM and SEOMOZ)
Hi, I have noticed that I have got some unwanted spammy back-links. I want to get rid of them. From what I read on Internet, there are two ways to doing it. Using disavow tool in GWM. Contacting individual webmaster and asking them to remove the mentions or links. I have already added the links in the disavow tool and Google has accepted the request. Is it necessary to ask those webmasters to remove the link as well?

Are paid links on your brand name considered bad by Google?
I've been intrigued recently by the penalty applied to a site we have just started working with. They were penalised back in summer last year as their previous link builder had built 60,000 links all with the same hard to get keyword anchor text....we're still sorting it out. My question now is that if the client pays for inclusion on some relevant sites, such as niche directories and those sites automatically produce 'follow' links, would the client be penalised if they link on their own company name? For example if they manufacture blue widgets and the anchor text on the link is 'ABC Manufacturing' rather than 'Blue Widgets' would Google see that as a reasonable link? I appreciate that if they linked back on the keyword anchor text 'Blue Widgets' it would be wrong but I'm seeking clarification on using the company name. Any thoughts?

Website design by... links. Worth it?
Hi all, Agency SEO here. Finally getting around to doing some work on our own site and had a thought. Any agency SEOs out there including "Website design by xyz" links in client website footers? (Only with client permission, of course.) We have a solid variety of clients and have tons of web work for them. Any agency SEOs want to speak to this? Any thoughts appreciated. James

We have one particular blog post that is very popular. How can we direct that traffic to other parts of our website?
We have one post in our blog that receives a large amount of traffic. Does anyone have suggestions on how to get people to click through to other posts and sections of the website? I'd like to learn how to harness that power. Thanks, Hill

I cannot get any links indexed to this website http://atglimo.com.
I have written nofollow, follow links, issued a press release, and submitted to the Universal Business Listing. None of these links are showing in the Yahoo index. I did a nofollow bookmark with delicious and it disappeared the next day. The people that built the website will not grant FTP access and modded the HTACCESS file incorrectly to point to a WWW. version of the site. I had them remove the index.html duplicate content problem. What is going on? Why are no links showing in the index for this site?
