Thomasnet NOFOLLOW Links?
-
Is it just me or does http://www.thomasnet.com only have nofollow links across the site now?
-
Does that mean that they're likely going to be using the beta version with noindex, nofollow at a later point, or is that just a temporary thing.
We're doing very well in organic listings right now, but we have Thomasnet for a client as well. Trying to decide whether or not to keep them. We're also getting over 10 times the traffic from PPC at only twice the cost. Is there a major benefit from Thomasnet that I should be considering?
-
The BETA version of the site is noindex, nofollow'd, however non-beta version is fully open and indexed by search engines. You can confirm this via the site: command in the various search engines.
-
Hold the phone. Turns out, they're doing Beta testing, you have to click on the Exit Beta up in the top right.
The links you get on category pages are still followed.
My Bad!
-
That was a very good question, and I had to respond to this so I can reference the responses later. I know we use Thomasnet, and I have for years thought they were extremely overpriced. Very astute observation.
-
I think you're probably seeing the "beta" version of the site that they're testing -- it looks like they're doing some kind of A/B testing with two different versions. Both of them have external links nofollowed, but only the beta version has the entire site noindexed.
-
If you're looking at it just for the link benefit, you will want to avoid Thomasnet -- the cost is not worth the benefit, which is little to none from a link juice perspective these days.
You may want to check out the openfos.com and mfgpages.com directories if you're looking for an industrial directory. You can get links from them for $150 a year in similar quantity to Thomasnet, with anchor text. You will not see as much traffic as a Thomasnet link, but we've seen measurable ranking benefit from those directories for industrial sites.
-
Nope, was considering it strictly for link-building. It's actually more like $2k for many links to deep pages, FYI
-
If Thomas is no following their links you'd have to decide if the traffic Thomas would drive is worth the cost, I do think that a 2k cost for a link should provide some juice.
-
Ok yea, that's exactly what I saw. It's $2,000 yr minimum to get listed in this industry directory. If they're blocking their entire site, I can't say I'm going to be signing up.
Thanks

Hey Clintend,
I have never used this site before, but after looking at several business listings and their individual page, it does appear that their this a "<meta content="noindex, nofollow" name="Robots">" added to the page.
It's kind of weird that it is also on their main page... not sure why any one would want this on their top lvl pages.

About Link Earning?
I own an e-commerce store and I am get started with my SEO strategy. I know content is extremely important when it comes to link building, however for an e-commerce store what can I do as far as content. So far my only idea is blog posts. It's a furniture store so videos are really hard to do. The blog posts relate to home decor and interior design. My question is if people are going to be linking to my blog, will this help my website rank for product terms? The blog is part of the website, websitename.com/blog.

When buying used domains, how do i see the links pointing to that domain? OSE not showing links
when buying used domains, how do i see the links pointing to that domain? Sometimes the open site explorer doesn't show any links to the domain, especially if the domain is parked. Obviously a domain for sale with 1000 domains linking to it has lots of SEO Value right? Thanks mozzers!

When pitching a whitepaper as Push Content for Link Building, is it ok to give the person I'm pitching a link to a landing page with a form on it?
When pitching a whitepaper as Push Content for Link Building (i.e. pushing out content that my client has created), is it ok to give the person I'm pitching a link to a landing page with a form on it? Or should I create a landing page with the whitepaper included on it? I’m not sure if the client will be ok with this b/c I know they use the whitepaper for sales purposes to gain leads. For example, my pitch email would include a line such as this, "the whitepaper can be found at LINK and I'd love if you could share it with your readers." I think it may be weird/a little wrong to ask a webmaster to include a link on his site to a landing page with a form to get the whitepaper. Does this make sense? What have others done with whitepapers as Push Content for link building?

Outbound Links as References - use nofollow or not?
Hey People 🙂 We run an ecommerce site and we research and wrote articles on health topics , and we post the references on the articles in posts ( Magento site / Wordpress for articles ) Should I be putting rel=nofollow in the outbound links or not? I have read a few different posts but none seem to definitively fit my situation. Kind Regards

Follow or Nofollow?
Hi all, I have a question, which I can not figure out the answer to. I have a web site which collects sporting news articles so that users need only to go to one site to check news about a subject instead of going to all sorts of sites. On the site I simply link out (to over 300 sources). My question is: The links (I have thousands and thousands per day) should they be follow or nofollow? Do I gain anything by having them set to follow. Or do I lose anything by setting them to nofollow? The site is http://www.holdnyt.dk - if you want to see how many links are per page and so on. -Rasmus

Links or Redirect?
My client's company has just acquired another company in the same industry and with that acquisition came two websites; companyname.com and companyname.co.uk. companyname.com has PA13 and DA10, companyname.co.uk has PA15 and DA10. At the moment, the two companies are to be run as separate companies but will become fully merged in time. My client's own website is brand new (PA1 and DA) and I'm wondering what is the best way to use these other two sites to improve my client's search ranking. Should I use the two sites to link to my client (these would be logical and natural links e.g. explaining the acquisition, under new management) or would it simply be better to redirect the domains to the new site? Many thanks
