Nofollow link passing link juice
-
Can a link which is nofollwed pass link juice ? Please see the discussion at -
-
I know this to be false. Further - I've seen them actually improve rankings where no other link building has taken place. They certainly do not pass all value but some certainly.
-
I actually changed a slide in one of my decks with this correction hehe
-
Both Google and Bing state in their documentation that they do not crawl no-follow links
-
I think by value you mean pagerank?
Here's an old article about link juice/page rank (be aware that this is a little old now, but the description of how value is passed may be helpful)

"Link juice" is so 2010.
"Link Love" is the way forward...

Thanks again.
Is there any useful seomoz posts explaining what mean by value of each link ? why do some links pass more value than others ?
-
Yes
-
Thanks.
By link juice, do you mean the "value" of each individual link ?
-
In short, it won't pass link juice but will still get crawled

Best Nofollow Practice Facing +500 instances of affiliate links
Hi. I have a set of affiliate links on my website. That's 50 unique links in total. They are placed in a separate folder /go/, and are all nofollowed. My website has 100 pages. When doing a site audit I get a report with 50 affiliate links pr. page x100. That's a huge report. Is this really necessary? I can ofc. choose to ignore the automated reports, but I can't help but to think that there must be an easier way to keep track of it? Like, if Link 1-50 is located in /go/, they should automatically be nofollowed, regardless of where they are located on the root/sub domain. Bonus question: The format of the link is https://exampledomain.com/go/brandname I am wondering if I should add that "/" at the end of it. If yes, why? If no, why?

Outbound Links
I have a page on upstrap-pro.com that provides weights of cameras and lenses. The user/buyer of my on-slip camera straps needs to know the weight his camera and lens to determine the proper pad size... large to small. We have put together a long list of the most popular customer cameras. The way it was done (by my daughter) was to also provide a via a link to dpreview.com which is an excellent site for camera information including specifications etc. My personal feeling about this is mixed. I can do it by having it open dpreview.com in a new tab but then the user/customer could still get distracted and go down the rabbit hole. On the other hand dpreview is such a good site that if they are new to photography and don't know about it, they should. I don't get a dime from dpreview. If fact I doubt they would ever link back to me because they do not write about camera straps. I hear mixed things about outbound links. In this file there are quite a few outbound links to dpreview to keep it consistent. I could do a nofollow on all of them but I read that this is the easy way out. Google is jump ball and I have no clue what Cutts and his merry men are going to decide is cool or not cool. I'd like some thoughts or options... Thanks... A small part of the file below. Reciprocal links and nofollow tag
What happens if I link to a site using the nofollow tag and they are linking back to me with a dofollow link? Will it give me as much power and link juice as if it was a one way link (to me) or will Google discount the link because it's reciprocal?

Best practices for controlling link juice with site structure
I'm trying to do my best to control the link juice from my home page to the most important category landing pages on my client's e-commerce site. I have a couple questions regarding how to NOT pass link juice to insignificant pages and how best to pass juice to my most important pages. INSIGNIFICANT PAGES: How do you tag links to not pass juice to unimportant pages. For example, my client has a "Contact" page off of there home page. Now we aren't trying to drive traffic to the contact page, so I'm worried about the link juice from the home page being passed to it. Would you tag the Contact link with a "no follow" tag, so it doesn't pass the juice, but then include it in a sitemap so it gets indexed? Are there best practices for this sort of stuff?

TO NOFOLLOW OR NOT
Hey Everyone... Just got a quick question I haven't really ever found a straight answer to. I have a sports blog. Part of the blog is writing my own articles and the other part is putting together posts that have a collection of links to other good articles. An example post link is below. http://frogfanreport.com/tcu-news/frog-fan-tcu-news-links-1612/ The question is whether I should be setting these posts as NOFOLLOW? During football season I have a link collection post daily but during the off-season i may post every couple of days. zach

Linking to related business?
If your working with a local business, is it a good idea to reach out to similar businesses in other states and ask for a link? Example: I own a paint shop in Minnesota, and I reach out to a paint shop in California to see if we want to link to each others site to help our SEO. Because we aren’t in competition with each other wouldn’t this help us both?

Link Share Matrix
Our developers have requested our "Link Share Matrix" - does anyone know what a Link Share Matrix is? Google and the Wiki haven't provided any decent results so I still don't know exactly what it is. Thanks in advance 🙂
