Does adding a YouTube video to a page decrease site speed?
-
If you embed a YouTube video on your page, does Google count that as part of their site speed calculation. Since it is in a iFrame, I would think that it is not counted.
-
You can find out by utilizing Google page speed online here:

Hey,
As you correctly indentify - since a standard YouTube embed is in an iFrame, the content loads separately and wont effect site speed. If you choose to use an older style flash based YouTube embed, then this will require a bit of loading, but it wont be significant or anything to be concerned with. However, if you were to have a single page with tons of flash embeds, then this could be slightly problematic - so avoid that and use iFrames where possible.

Half of my site is private for members only, should I use the Nofollow on these pages?
I'm trying to increase more traffic to my website. However half of my website is for members only and you have to be logged in to see content on those pages. I'm confused on whether I should use "nofollow" on these pages or not.

If a blog is centered around visual images, and we have specific pages with high quality content that we plan to index and drive our traffic, but we have many pages with our images...what is the best way to go about getting these images indexed? We want to noindex all the pages with just images because they are thin content... Can you noindex, follow a page, but still index the images on that page? Please explain how to go about this concept.....

Can you 301 redirect a page to an already existing/old page ?
If you delete a page (say a sub department/category page on an ecommerce store) should you 301 redirect its url to the nearest equivalent page still on the site or just delete and forget about it ? Generally should you try and 301 redirect any old pages your deleting if you can find suitable page with similar content to redirect to. Wont G consider it weird if you say a page has moved permenantly to such and such an address if that page/address existed before ? I presume its fine since say in the scenario of consolidating departments on your store you want to redirect the department page your going to delete to the existing pages/department you are consolidating old departments products into ?

How can you get the right site links for your site?
Hello all, I have been trying to get Google to list relevant site links for my site when you type in our brand name, Loco2 or for when Loco2 comes up in a search result. Different things come up when you search Loco2 and Loco 2. We would like site links to look like how they do when you search Loco 2. However Loco2 is our brand name, NOT Loco 2. Does anyone know why Google is doing this and whether we can influence results? We have done as much as possible via Google webmaster, in terms of specifying the links we DO NOT want Google to list for Loco2. However, when you search "Loco2", results only show simple site links. Ideally what we want is: Loco2 to be recognised as the brand NOT Loco 2 The same results (substantial, identical) for Loco2 as for Loco 2 (think o2 and o 2) For the site links to reflect the main pages of our site (Times & Tickets, Engine Room forum etc.) Many thanks in advance! Adding more content to an old site
We have a site which was de-moted from PR4 to PR3 with the latest Google update. We have not done any SEO for a long time for the site and the content is the same with over 100 page. My question is, in order to update the site, which is the best to do it, do we: 1. re-introduced new content to replace old once 2. re-write old content 3. Add new pages Many thanks in advance.
