Is using a platform to automatically cross post on the social bookmarking websites good or bad for SEO?

I tend to agree with Valery - it depends a lot on the audience and your engagement. If you're active on a site and have a strong profile, then auto-posting your new content often makes sense. If you're just submitting content to 100s of social bookmarking sites, with no real profile and very low authority, you're not going to accomplish much. Google will likely just ignore it, for the most part.

Hi Melia,
we are using MagicSubmitter since 2 years - we have good results - its like manuel linkbuilding because u can schedule every task (post). MS u can use to pos to almost any side. -
From a pure 'does Google notice and rank this' perspective auto cross-posting doesn't really have a measurable effect that I've seen.
However, it entirely depends on the audience you are publishing to and their level of engagement. If you have people actually reading those social platforms and sharing your content in turn, then it's obviously a slamdunk that you should be doing it. For some clients I've had a tweet live for weeks, getting forwarded around, showing up on blogs, etc.
There's two questions to ask really:
1. Do you have an engaged audience that is going to use this content?
2. How do you tell if it's even being shared/read?
You'll note that I haven't addressed how measurable Google's response to this kind of thing because in my opinion... it isn't really measurable as of yet.

Thanks! How long have you been using Magic Submiter? Have you see any results? Also, what do you recommend on how to use the tool to keep from abusing it? I just want to make sure I am not cross-posting to the point where search engines consider it a spammy technique.

Hi Melia,
we also hav bin using OnlyWire.com - the problem of OnlyWire.com is that they are postin all at 1 time - and all the same so that does not look very natural. You still get links but like I said I dont think google will give the same value to it if they notice that it is automated (all at same time / all same content)
The only tool that works out 4 us to automate some parts of linkbuilding ist
http://www.magicsubmitter.com/ - the page look little spamy but the tool ist the best!hope that did help
-
Thank you for your reply. I am going to use OnlyWire.com.

Are Social tags beyond Structured Data still required?
Hello: I have a client that has Structured data set up correctly to include their social profiles for FB, Twitter, and Google+. But when I run an audit tool it tells me that they need < re=Publisher > tag for Google Plus. My understanding is that we don't need any additional code beyond the Structured Data tags. Is that correct? Thank you Rosemary

How to make good content go viral?
Hi, have a question on the distribution of content which is designed to go viral. Let say you have written awesome content, with great visuals, etc which is designed to go viral. Your site is relatively new - not many social media followers, DA authority, or natural traffic. What would be a good process of distributing that content - getting the content out there so it has the best chance and ability to go viral and generate links. So far i have: Use press releases to distribute that content, using a distribution service like: prnewswire.com. Hope its picked up by a news site or something. Contact Facebook Pages or Twitter Pages who have a large audience of the type of people who would be interested in the content. Ask them if they can share the content. Content sites related to the content, and ask them to share it with their users (Give them a incentive e.g. money, a gift, etc) I think number 1 would yield the best possible results in getting actual sites linking to you. 2 and 3 are more designed for people (who very few would have blogs) to read the content. Any other suggestions, i'm missing out on? Any good articles you guys recommend, i should checkout? Thanks, Matt

SEO difference between having a Google+ Brand and Google+ Business page?
Functionally the Google+ Brand and Business pages seem to be exactly the same, but does having one or the other have an effect on SEO? Is it better to have both?

Value in content from website being shared across social media?
If I write content (small career advice quotes) on my website and I distribute across Twitter and FB I assume my site will get the full credit (from an SEO perspective) since that is where the content was originally uploaded. However, will I still get SEO credit for being active on social media, or will Google view it as duplicate content and evaluate that I am not active on social media? thank you

First Attempt at Local SEO
Hi everyone, I've only been a member for a few days but this community is extremely supportive of one another, and I appreciate that very much. Here's my current project. I've done IM for awhile but now I'm helping a massage therapist with his personal brand here in Chicago. I've used the tools here to identify a few of the bigger sites and ten local keywords that he'd like to rank for - things like chicago massage, cheap massage therapy, and chicago reiki, his favorite. I'm currently getting him set up with Google Places properly so he shows up there. We have a Facebook and Twitter underway. We have a blog he can use if he wants - though I'm not sure how insistent he's going to stay. I'm planning a separate page targeting each of the keywords we're after. His competitors each have a couple local blogs talking about them, so I'm going to contact some local bloggers and offer them free massages in return for a review. He also is getting registered in some of the local business directories - mostly the ones I see the other sites already in. Finally, I was going to use some Build My Rank sites to bulk up his backlinks - maybe focus 10 on each keyword, with 5 going to the main keyword and 5 going to long tails. How does this sound for a simple, first SEO project? I'd love to hear some feedback, even if it's just "sounds great". I've never put one together for a client, and I'm thrilled/nervous. Thanks! Philip

Widgets like Facebook Like and AddThis - Any Negative SEO?
I could go widget crazy with my website, there are so many cool buttons and linking this and likes and etc. There's one that is used a lot, called "Addthis" that adds a series of small icons to share a page via facebook, twitter, etc. The javascript looks innocent enough, but there's a link, and who knows what google makes of it. Then there are the dozen or so Facebook widgets - are they safe to use without negative SEO consequences? Does anyone know of any other pitfalls with using the numerous addons offered free to enhance your site? Thanks for any wisdom out there! Jean
