Another Yahoo directory question

Hi all

Is there any way of seeing if the Yahoo directory is likely to be beneficial for my site?

I can see that about 9 of my competitors are in there, and the category that they are listed in has been indexed by google. What other factors could help me choose whether to submit my site?

If there's room in the advertising budget, go for it. It's a quick way to get a high authority link and if your competitor's are listed, by getting listed too you remove that advantage, whether it's great or small.

Backlinks Question

Hi all, i own a small business in an extremely competitive marketplace. I have also educated myself greatly about seo over the past 3 years and currently do my own. The one thing I cannot figure out, for the life of me, is how my two competitors keep beating me in rankings without backlinks. I mean, I have about 3K solid backlinks, mostly do follow, from top notch publications, sites, citations ect. In ahref, it shows that he has almost no backlinks. I cannot crack th third spot, but they dominate with zero backlinks, and the domains are only a bit older than mine. Thoughts on this?

Do the bots crawl the top of the page first - directory listing question

Hi all, I've purchased a link from a good PR4 website, but they added my link to the bottom of a lengthy page. They offered to up-sell me to get to the top of the page, where I'll be 10 or 12 links down. One of my direct competitors is at the top, so I'm happy with the directory choice (they spank me in rankings). The only reason I'm on this directory is to purely capture link juice. So knowing all of that, my question is, should I go ahead and pay to be on the top, assuming that Google bots crawl a page from the top down? It's important to me for the bot to log this link quickly. Or is paying to be at the top pointless, because the bot will just as quickly crawl to the bottom of the page and pick up the link anyway? Internal Linking Questions

Hello, here are my questions. 1:Should I be internal linking back to my home page from every subpage or lower page on my site. Or, is that going overboard? 2: If i'm internal linking back to a page with an anchor text that has no relation to the page, will that pass less relevance? So for example lets say the current page is about mazda cars. Then, I link to a page about ford cars with the anchor text Mazda cars that would pass less relevance, right? Thanks for your help

Is business related directory paid links OK for SEO?

I heard paid links are not good. My business is wedding related e-commerce. There are some wedding directory site out there and I need to paid them in order to put my links there. Are these directory links also count as paid links? Is it bad for SEO? I saw some popular wedding sites put their sites there too. BTW, is Yahoo , botw or business.com directory treated as paid link? Hi, When a blog owner posts my article with a no-follow tag applied to the anchor text link pointing out I kind of get the feeling as soon as Google indexes this article with that tag applied its game over and that article is now dead, even if the blog owner changes it back to follow after Google has found it. I do a lot of guest blogging and it seems as though when Google first crawls the new content for the first time and follows the link something extra passes through. For example: I guest posted on a blog and the article was 'follow', I sore a increase in rankings for about 3 weeks, then the article got flagged in My Blog Guest that it had been changed and I noticed a no-follow tag had been applied. Ranking dropped back down by the time I had contacted the blog owner and asked him to change it, which he did and still it is follow but I never sore rankings come back, it was like soon as Google had seen the article link was 'nofollow' changing it back made no difference. I could be completely wrong as this is just guessing but its almost like when a link is tampered with it indicates its not a natural link.
