How to see traffic for specific keywords in GA
-
Hell guys,
What i want to achieve is to generate a list of specific keywords showing traffic for a certain periode of time. I also want so be able to compare this time period with historical data.
I want a list as shown in: Traffic sources -> sources -> search -> organic.
This shows a list of keywords generating traffic out of the organic search results. When you use a filter you can only use one word so it seems. I just want to create that list but with the specific keywords i choose to display.
I tried advanced reports and advanced segments but that doesn't really give me what i want.
The idea behind this whole thing is that i want to give my client an overview of the traffic received on the words we are optimizing for. this traffic has to be compared to the previous month so they can see clearly if there were changes.
Thx !

Update- the bug appears to have been fixed and I am getting the right results with this segment and when I export it.
-
I think you are right. Still some things they need to fix in GA. Like date comparison in automated reports. Oh well, one must make shift with what one has.
Thanks a lot for responding!
-
I think there is some sort of bug with GA because I noticed that when you apply the advanced segment it shows up some other keywords but then if you click on the next page arrow and then click on the previous page arrow it loads only the keywords that I have placed in the advanced segment - strange!
-
Hmmm... no i have another problem. When i generate a report the advanced segements keywords show up at the top but the other keywords that generated traffic are also generated. How i can i exclude those?
-
This is it.. slapping myself now. It really is such an obvious solution. Anyway thanks alot!

Hi Sander - you can achieve what you are looking for using advanced segments on the report you mentioned above. Click advanced segments > +New Custom Segment. Then name your segment something suitable. Select the green box that defaults to Ad Content and type keyword (select this from the list once it appears as it is your dimension). Then on the drop down box that says containing change it to exactly matching, finally enter your first keyword in the last input box. Repeat this process for all your keywords that you want in your custom report and make sure you use the Add 'OR' statement and the dimension option every time. This will produce a report that can be downloaded in pdf containing only the keywords that you have selected. Let me know how you get on...
-
No. Not yet. This because i want to have a nice pdf report. Im curious if this can ben built within analytics and exporting it to a pdf

Sander have you thought about downloading the list of keywords into a spreadsheet and manipulating them that way - this should be relatively quick and easy to do?

Connect AMP to the same website GA property or not
Hi, Asking this on behalf of a client:"I know Google recommends setting up a separate GA property for AMP which they note in a few places:https://developers.google.com/analytics/devguides/collection/amp-analytics/https://support.google.com/analytics/answer/6343176?hl=en

From what we can tell this is because the tracking for AMP will measure things differently than the current analytics.js library. I also think it's related to the GA cookie and how it's set differently for AMP pages. But won't this cause drop-off in user journey information? For example, if a user views an AMP blog article but then clicks to our site from a link within the article. I think we would then track this as two separate users and the pages/visit would be off. I found this article which explains a tech way to connect AMP to the same website GA property but it seems a little too much of a work-around:https://www.simoahava.com/analytics/google-analytics-client-id-amp-pages/ Do you think we should just do what Google recommends and set up AMP as a separate property in GA?" --> Does anyone know if there could be any issues with this workaround?Thanks,0 -
Where does the organic keyword information come from in Google Analytics?
I know that Google switch to all encrypted search, but I still show some keywords. Are those keywords that slipped through? Or are they all from Yahoo/Bing?

Can't seem to rank for keyword "home care grand rapids" - need some advice
I am trying to rank for "home care grand rapids" and am having a really difficult time. My site: http://healthcareassociates.net has better backlinks, keywords and other seo markers than my competitors but I still can't seem to rank. The keyword and associated keywords (home care grand rapids michigan, home health care grand rapids, etc.) are only 31-33% difficulty and my site/page rank is better than the leading sites. What gives? Todd

Where have the 'most changed keyword rankings' gone from the weekly summary emails?
Since the change to Moz we have noticed that the weekly summary emails do not show the 'most changed keyword rankings' table. We found these extremely helpful and would be disappointed to see these go. Are these going to make a come back?

How to force keyword check?
I used to have only 5 keywords that I tracked, but I have just added about 100 more. But when I look in the overview, it says: "Rankings Updated Every: Tuesday Last Data Update: 01/07/2013" It is not Tuesday yet, but seems that it was updated on January 7th. Will I have to wait another week? How can I force a re-check? I'm in rush to get this data 😞

Google Analytics Organic search queries aren't being updated, even though I'm still seeing results in all our typical results pages.
We pushed some new changes to the site and Google Analytics is no longer updating the Organic Search queries listing, even though traffic is consistent and and we're still landing results in all our typical keyword searches. Any ideas?

301 redirects reduce traffic considerably
I recently identified an issue with our site whereby we had three different URL types for each article. As an example, we might have something like: /articles/my-article-name /articles/my-article-name.aspx /articles/My-Article-Name We've since taken action to address this by implement 301 redirects from the second and third formats to the first (so everything is without the .aspx extension and is in lower case). But the results have been disconcerting. Before the change, one of our articles receives 150 or so hits per day via the .aspx version. The other two existed but had very low traffic (1-3 per day). We decided the non .aspx and lowercase version was the version we wanted. Sure enough, when we introduced the 301 redirects on September 25th the traffic for the .aspx version just stopped (after a day) and the traffic for the non-.aspx version climbed. But not enough. After the change, the non-.aspx version is receiving about 60-70% of the traffic that we used to have on the .aspx version. So, instead of receiving 150 per day (to the .aspx version) we are receiving around 100 or so to the non-.aspx version. This pattern has occured across all our articles and, as a result, our site-wide traffic has dropped by about 40% or so. Since we are using 301 redirects I had assumed that the search engines would just update to reflect the non-.aspx version. I am sure I am missing something here. Any help would be most appreciated. Thanks. Mark
