Blog Comments and Forum Posts
-
Hi,
After recent update from Google i.e penguin update. Do Blog comments and Forum Signatures work? Or will they harm my site. Suppose i have a health related blog, and i engage in making comments in technology related blog and forum. Do i am potentially prone to hit a penality?
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Well it's all about passing the threshold of your link building profile which you don't want to do, if you have an already well established site, moderate forum links won't get you penalized. Avoid sig links like the plaque. Most blog comments are nofollow, if you find a dofollow blog and it posts without moderation it's only a matter of time before spammers start hammering the comments on that page so you'll eventually wind up in a bad neighborhood.
Also if you post in a forum you can always log in and edit your post or delete your account, once a blog comment goes up it can be more difficult to get removed.

Hi - please see the responses on this Q and A in relation to what you are asking - http://www.seomoz.org/q/blog-comments-good-for-seo
I think you should avoid this as it is a dangerous practice and potential for a penalty is high!

How should I close my forum in a way that's best for SEO?
Hi Guys, I have a forum on a subdomain and it is no longer used. (like forum.mywebsite.com) It kind of feels like a dead limb and I don't know what's best to do for SEO. Should I just leave it as it is and let it stagnate? There is a link in the nav menu to the main domain so users have a chance to find the main domain. Or should I remove it and just redirect the whole subdomain to the main domain? I don't know if redirects would work as I doubt most of the threads would match our articles, plus there are 700 of them. The main domain is PR3 and so is the forum subdomain. Please help!

Anyone using Adobe Business Catalyst and Fixing SEO URL Blog Updates?
Does anyone else have experience with the current update Adobe Business Catalyst has announced for their blog features? Florin at BC offered the code below: http://www.graeagle.com/images/fb_blog_og_img.jpg" /> However nether myself nor another commentator can figure out how to make it work: I added the meta data to my template but it seems the tags are not correct. For example, the tag {tag_blogpostmetatitle} does not automatically include the SEO title that I've called out in my individual blog post. So, it appears the browser is ignoring the tag and just including it as is. When I view the source for my live blog article, this is what I get for the lines that I've added the code in the tag: Also, I cannot get schema metadata to work on the BC blog. For example, I have used it on this page: http://www.homedestination.com/_blog/Real_Estate_Blog/post/things_to_know_before_building_a_new_home/; which yields the following in Google's Rich Snippet Tool: Extracted structured data rdfa-node property: title: {tag_blogpostmetatitle} description:__{tag_blogpostmetadescription}

Hard-working newbie question: benefit of moving my blog to my online store's domain?
Hi all, I've been running an online wine store in Switzerland for a month and have been working hard on SEO (I love learning about it). Anyway, for a couple of years prior to launching the store, I had been running a wine blog whose articles are ranking well in Google. I now want to link the two. My questions are: A) will the addition of the blog (store.com/blog) contribute to the store's domain authority (currently, the blog authority is higher than the site authority)? B) technically, can I 301 the whole blog to store.com/blog? Any help and tips would be appreciated. Thank you!

Low relavence for actual keywords in a forum
My website, www.rcnightmare.com has a forum, the most popular entry point for seo traffic. I have tried unsuccessfully to really make the forum's content outweigh the actual content of the "forum" itself. For example google analytics says "post" is my strongest keyword across the site. the forums url is www.rcnightmare.com/forum, I am looking for some answers from people familiar with Vbulletin for things I can change to help this
