How to fix duplicate page content and page titles?

Apologies in advance if this has already been answered (it probably has) - I'm just not seeing it.
Is there a guide on here for how to fix the issues brought up by the crawler - specifically, things like duplicate page content, or duplicate page titles? A lot of these seem to have been created by wordpress.org combos that I didn't anticipate - i.e., category pages, author pages, etc. The crawler brings up the problems, but I don' t know where to start to go about fixing them.
Also, any guide on best SEO practices or fixing optimization problems, specifically for wordpress.org blogs, would be greatly appreciated.

It's a common problem, so no need to apologise!
You'll find a lot of good information about this in two places: SEOMoz for one has some great information about canonicalisation. This is basically the act of telling your website that while this page exists, it's basically a duplicate of another page. This way Google will only look at the "original".
Secondly in terms of Wordpress, I'm a huge fan of Yoast and their articles about optimising Wordpress. In addition to that, they have a fantastic plugin for Wordpress which gives you all the power you'll need to do the required things in Wordpress, so I seriously recommend that you check that out too!

Horrible ranking for hundreds of content pages
We have hundreds of pages of restaurant reviews (each is 100% original content) on our site (for example, here is a list of many of the content pages: https://www.rewards21.com/articles). The PA of almost every page is 1 (ouch). Doing even the most long-tail Google search doesn't bring up one of those pages (even if I include our company name in the search string). I'm certain we have lots of room to improve SEO, but not even seeing the pages come up for even the most long-tail search has me concerned... Our site used to be on Wordpress many months ago and many of these pages ranked fine..ever since switching away from Wordpress, we've not made any SEO progress. Am wondering if something major is "broken" with our site SEO...

Page title in Google search is defferent
Hello, Google changes the title of the main page only for my sites in this way: What I configured: My page title | my site name How it shows in Google: My site name: My page title If I checked some meta tags analyzer it will show my configured page title and also in Bing.com So what do you thing about it. Duplicate page content
Hi Crawl errors is showing 2 pages of duplicate content for my clients WordPress site: /news/ & /category/featured/ Yoast is installed so how best to resolve this ? i see that both pages are canonicalised to themselves so presume just need to change the canonical tag on /category/featured/ to reference /news/ ?(since news is the page with higher authority and the main page for showing this info) or is there other way in Yoast or WP to deal with this & prevent from happening again ? Duplicate pages and slight product variations
Hi, I'm new here, first post... I've started working on an existing Magento website which is selling furniture. There are products such as leather dining chairs which have very detailed product descriptions. The problem is that there is separate a page for every colour the chair comes in (with exactly the same on-page text), so the page is effectively duplicated 5 times, one for red, one for blue etc... This is made even worse by the fact that the website builder has listed the products in multiple different categories. This means that the same basic product description is in use on maybe 20 or so pages. How would you guys deal with product descriptions for multiple, very similar products where only the colour is different? There's also the problem of very similar title tags etc... Page Analysis - Helping Product Pages Outrank Search Results Pages
Hi! We have a lot of our search results pages that have been indexed and outrank our product pages and in some instance the actual product pages barely show up at all. Here is an example query that includes our brand name: http://goo.gl/cgB6W So, we have loads of actual product pages, video pages, etc that should be showing up here, but are not and this is just one example. Unfortunately, there are a LOT of these Search Results pages out there and utlimately we would love to de-index them altogether, but it's going to have to be carefully done. So, was wondering if anyone would want to check out one of our product pages and give any feedback as to what we could change to possibly improve rank or to make them more search friendly or hopefully to help them rise above these indexed search results pages? What is the best way to resolve duplicate content issue
Hi I have a client whose site content has been scraped and used in numerous other sites. This is detrimental to ranking. One term we wish to rank for is nowhere. My question is this: what's the quickest way to resolve a duplicate content issue when other sites have stolen your content? I understand that maybe I should firstly contact these site owners and 'appeal to their better nature'. This will take time and they may not even comply. I've also considered rewriting our content. Again this takes time. Has anybody experienced this issue before? If so how did you come to a solution? Thanks in advance.

How to fix joomla duplicate page titles??
Hello, I have been using seomoz and sh404sef for almost a month now and can't seem to figure out my duplicate page title issue on my joomla site. I have changed everything I thought necessary but no luck. I have one page that I am trying to make dissapear from duplicate page title error and if I can figure it out i'm sure I can use same fix for the other 1,000 duplicate page titles being reported in my seomoz crawl report I have one link that I am working with sef url: http://www.mysite.com/contactus.html I have used sh404sef url manager and added page title, description and keywords to this link and for 3 weeks straight now it still shows that it is duplicate page title in my seomoz crawl report Is there something that I am missing somewhere or did i setup a bad campaign that is looking at wrong things on site?
