Using Images Instead of Text to Control Keywords on Page
-
We have recently updated a key page on our website. It is a template page that is used many times to display search results. The words "price", "revenue", and "cash flow", "not disclosed" are used for each listing on the page -- to minimize their impact on keyword density on the page we used images for these words. Here you can see some examples:
- http://www.businessbroker.net/City/Los Angeles-Businesses_For_Sale.aspx
- http://www.businessbroker.net/Industry/Auto_Car_Wash-Businesses_For_Sale.aspx
You will note these words on this page are images and not regular text.
We are certainly not doing this to "dupe" the visitors or Google -- we just want to ensure that each page has keywords pertinent to what the page is about.
Bottom line question -- is this an OK practice? Are we running any risk with Google by doing this? I'm particularly nervous these days with all of the Google changes.
Your thoughts and guidance on this issue would be much appreciated.
Thanks.

Hi Cyrus - I appreciate the response - makes good sense. We will be doing a comprehensive review of our title tags and making necessary adjustments so they don't appear "spammy" -- good suggestion! Thanks again, appreciate it. - Matt M

Hi MWM,
It's completely natural for websites to have certain words repeating over and over. Consider the typical listing page for Amazon - (Price, reviews, etc) Google encounters this all the time and it's natural to assume these words don't really play into ranking considerations. So I honestly don't see anything to gain by adding images.
That said, I doubt the images hurt you very much... I simply don't believe they are worth the effort.
On another note, you might want to take a look at your title tags. We've seen Google get more aggressive about cracking down on keyword stuffed title tags. Repeating your keywords more than once or twice is a definite red flag. For example, I might take this:
"Florida Business for Sale Ads - Florida Businesses for Sale & Business Brokers - Sell a Business on Business Broker"
and turn it into
"Florida Business for Sale Ads - Buy & Sell at BusinessBroker.net"
...needs a little refining, but you get the idea. Best of luck!

Specifically in your case, these things appear be genuine so you may use either image or text. Google will not harm your website
But make sure to use meaningful and informative description for all your listing instead of focusing on keywords but that doesn't mean that you can't use keywords if required

I believe the following article can answer all your queries, which you even have not asked.
From my side, as long as the words/keywords are used genuinely, you really need not to worry about that. There is no such think called Keyword Density, Reciprocal links as long as they are natural and genuine.

Related Keywords: How many separate pages?
We have an attorney website. There is a practice area that our research shows many different 2-4 word length keyword queries for. The keywords are all very different, but they end up in the same kind of legal action. We're wondering whether we should write many different pages, perhaps 10, to cover all the basic different keyword categories, or whether we should just write a few pages. In the latter situation, many of the target key words would be mentioned in the text, but wouldn't get placement in a url or title tags. One basic problem is that since the keyword queries are made up of different words, but result in the same kind of legal action and applicable law, the content of the pages might be similar with the only difference being a paragraph that speaks to that specific key word. The rest of the content would be quite similar among the pages, i.e. "here is the law that applies, contact us." Also, some of the keywords, like the name of the law, would have to be repeated on all the pages.

Is it OK to Delete a Page and Move Content to a Another Page without 301 re-direct
I have a page "A" that I want to completely delete and move the written content from A" to page "B". Since I am deleting "A" (not keeping page) is it OK to upload the content from "A" to page "B" and search engines will give "B" credit for the unique content? Or, since the content has already once been indexed on "A", "B" may struggle to get full credit for this new unique content, even though page "A" is deleted?

Any downsides of (permanent)redirecting 404 pages to more generic pages(category page)
Hi, We have a site which is somewhat like e-bay, they have several categories and advertisements posted by customers/ client. These advertisements disappear over time and turn into 404 pages. We have the option to redirect the user to the corresponding category page, but we're afraid of any negative impact of this change. Are there any downsides, and is this really the best option we have? Thanks in advance!

Web pages fighting over rank for one keyword. Can it be stopped?
Hey, See attachment. Website is Omega Red. The page I want to rank for seems like it is being held back by other closely related pages with similar titles. I am looking to rank for electrical earthing with this page. On the graph it shows how the other pages have interacted over a period of time on the website and how if they drop out of the top 50 this page then moves up in Google. I don't really want to canonicalise the other pages into one but maybe this is what needs to happen? Any suggestions? bWymgVt.jpg

Google images directing to Escaped Fragment instead of #!
Our indexed images in Google images are directing to:
Intermediate & Advanced SEO | | CBuy
http://www.cbuy.tv/?escaped_fragment= for example, instead of: the http://www.cbuy.tv/#! version. Is there something we can do on our end to fix this or is this a bug with Google?0 -
Could you use a robots.txt file to disalow a duplicate content page from being crawled?
A website has duplicate content pages to make it easier for users to find the information from a couple spots in the site navigation. Site owner would like to keep it this way without hurting SEO. I've thought of using the robots.txt file to disallow search engines from crawling one of the pages. Would you think this is a workable/acceptable solution?

Are there any negative effects to using a 301 redirect from a page to another internal page?
For example, from http://www.dog.com/toys to http://www.dog.com/chew-toys. In my situation, the main purpose of the 301 redirect is to replace the page with a new internal page that has a better optimized URL. This will be executed across multiple pages (about 20). None of these pages hold any search rankings but do carry a decent amount of page authority.
