What are the SEO best practices for infinite scrolling?
-
Is infinite scrolling bad for SEO? Is there a way to implement infinite scrolling without hurting a site's SEO?

Thanks Jon!

We actually didn't end up using infinite scroll. But, if I were to use it, I'd probably just create a static html page that periodically updates throughout the day and use it as the canonical URL and for internal linking purposes. I know it's not ideal, but it's a solution I've used in the past with decent results for dynamically generated pages.

What did you end up doing @Jon Goldberg? How did it turn out?
We currently have it on our website blocked from search engines, and I'd love to give them access if I could figure out how best to set that up for easy crawling (and not getting stuck, pissed off, and leaving.)

this is for the homepage of a news site that publishes about 200-300 pieces of content per day. You'll be able to navigate to this content in other ways on the site, but we're toying with the idea of an infinite scroll for the homepage. I'm trying to figure out a way to make the homepage fully indexable.

I would suggest multiple pages with specific focus each. Is this for a home page or a one page site?

Infinite Scroll and SEO - Is it enough to only link to the previous and next page in the pagination?
Hi all, We are implementing an eCommerce site where the results pages of the products will be visibile on one page (always loading new products when you scroll down the page). Now, I have read that the Google spiders cannot "load" new products scrolling down the page, hence the spider only sees the first few products of the results page. Our developer wants to implement a system where a users sees the first products on example.com/products Then scrolling down, he will see new products with the URL changing to example.com/page/2 and so on. Is it enough that we add a pagination link that goes from example.com/products to example.com/page/2 Then another link that goes from example.com/page/2 to example.com/page/3 and so on, so the Google spider can make his way through all the pages? Or is that too much deep linking and the spider wouldn't even crawl all the results pages? Any recommendations how to go about this? Many thanks in advance!

Does an age verification home page hurt SEO?
There's a microbrewery in our area that just launched its first website. It has the "verify your age" homepage (which is not really their homepage, but I don't know what it's called) before you can enter. It looks like this: http://angrychairbrewing.com/ Anyway, does this hurt them at all from a rankings standpoint? Also, assuming bots/spiders/ROGER can crawl sites like this, (which I think they would have to be able to do) how do they get around this verification? Thanks, Ruben

SEO Value to Improving HTML Code of Website That Validates According to W3C?
Greetings MOZ Community: My real estate website www.nyc-officespace-leader.com, originally designed in Drupal, was relaunched using Wordpress in 2013. The code for all URLs validates. The relaunch was performed by developers in Argentina. As part of an SEO campaign, I very reputable design/coding company in the has provided new wire frames to correct useability issues holding back conversions. In the course of the design adjustments they inspected the code and have told me that it is inefficient, that a number of shortcuts were taken and that the code does not conform to Wordpress best practices. What concerns me most is their claim that the quality of coding makes it more difficult for Google to index the site and this may be detrimental to ranking. Is it possible for the original developers to clean up this code if the deficiencies are pointed out to them? Or once coding shortcuts are taken are they impossible to fix? Would it make sense for me to request that the new design team put together a list of HTML deficiencies and provide to the original developers and ask them to correct? I am spending tens of thousands of dollars on content optimization, content marketing. It would be absurd if these coding issues would ultimately prevent improvement in ranking and traffic. At the same time, I hate to be a cynic but the domestic design/coding firm, while being very professional, does have an incentive in getting me to ditch the original design so I commit to an costly rebranding. If these issues are really minor maybe it is not worth making the effort to clean up the code (assuming that is even possible) and focus the budget on content marketing. Any thoughts?

Regarding Infinite Scroll
Hey Moz'erz Working on a 1 page website (+ customer login and backend). The home page is done in an infinite-scroll type design where fixed side bar links will take you to the ID on page. There are 4 sections (4 ID links) on the page. In your experience would it still be best to recommend the best practice from the webmaster tools blog here; and have each ID appear as an index-able page? Just curious is there would be a big impact positive or negative or if the above mentioned pertains more so to longer infinite scroll pages. Comments and experiences are greatly welcomed!!

What would be the best way to translate my website for international seo?
I am planning on creating a multi language website that targets different countries and would like to know what would be the best way to translate my content from English to multiple different languages (French, Spanish, Swedish, Chinese, etc.). I would hire a translator but doing so for all these different languages would be too costly. Using Google translate will leave me with at best a rough translation. What are my other options? Is there a website that can provide me a better translation? Would Fiver be a better/cheaper alternative? Thoughts?

What is the best SEO friendly CMS platform?
Would like to build some content sites and would appreciate some guidance on what you believe to be the most SEO friendly CMS platform. I'm also hoping to find something that doesn't require much HTML and is pretty easy to jump into.
