Forced Page Views and Search Engines?
-
I have a website that was built for the primary purpose of showing HTML 5 capabilities. With this, we have to create forced page views within analytics in order to receive any data about consumer behavior on the site.
Are search engines viewing these forced page views as actual webpages? Does it even effect SEO efforts?
-
That is what I thought, but wanted to make sure. Thank you for responding.
-
Oh in that case if there is no actual page, neither for humans nor for search engines, then I don't see how it would affect your SEO efforts, positively or negatively.
-
The forced pageviews I am referring to are on the analytics side of things. It is code that is put in place to trigger analytics into thinking that the website user has viewed multiple pages. There is not an actual page the user sees.
Since the page views are contained within analytics I don't think that there should be a problem. I just wanted to reach out to see if anyone has experience using this technology and how it effected rankings.
-
What do you mean by 'Forced Pageviews' - either someone is actually viewing a HTML5 page, in which case a normal page view will be in play, or you provide a link to a non-HTML5 one for those with non-compliant browsers in which case you will only get a pageview on the other page if they click through.
Unless you're talking about an automatic redirect for non-compliant browsers? Can you clarify what is actually happening on-site please?

Export Google Search Results
I would like to export a list of pages indexed by Google and other search engines. According to our site search with google, we have over 300,000 pages indexed. Anyway to export a list of all of these pages? Tools like ScreamingFrog (which I own a copy of) can crawl your site but does not tell you the pages indexed by a search engine... I've tried using tools that will let you export each page of the results. However, this won't work for a 300K page website. Thanks for your help!

Location Pages
Hi. A client of mine offers multiple services and covers a region of the UK. They want to target each major town/city within this area. However, there are 20 cities and services offered range from 5-15 services. I am in the process of creating a location page for each city, so it can be optimised separately however I am not sure if there is a better way to do it? Or should I create a page for each city & service. So I for example I end up with 10 London pages with each one offering a different service? These can all be optimised for different services within London then? Any suggestions? Thanks

Huge difference in search results depending on the country?
I have some keywords ranking in pages 2 and 3 in the US but for instance, in Canada, the same keywords rank somewhere between pages 15 and 25. When I check my US rankings, I use a Windows VPS located in the US. When I check my rankings in Canada, I use a computer physically located in Canada. Basically, about 80% of my rankings have gone away for countries other than the US. I have not set any geographical target for my website in GWT. How come there is such a big difference in search results across different countries?

Internal Site Search Analysis
Hi Folks, I have about 6,000 internal site search phrases that I want to analyze. There are many variations and duplicates that have similar intent within the data, e.g. Employment, Employment Opportunities, Employment Application. Does anyone have any thoughts on how I can aggregate the data to get an idea of user intent. There's a lot of long-tail in there. The data does not come from Google's site search tool. I just have a spreadsheet of the terms and the number of times they were searched. Cheers!

Home page (s) deindexed
Ok odd one. 2 sites hosted on go daddy, neither sites has any cause for concern. But both sites have had there home pages deindexed or - 10000 penalty for no reason. We do the SEO for 1 site and not for the other. The server is shared with go daddy no idea on how many other 3rd party sites are on it. I've filed a reinclusion request for both sites. Any help is more than welcome.

How to get more page impressions?
I'm wondering about one of our web-projects. There's a lot of good interesting content but the statistics of page impressions don't make me very happy. Each user is visiting just 1,5 sites per visit. That's really not much. We have other (similar) projects where this problem does not exist, where user are visiting a lot more sites per visit. I have no idea what could be the reason for it. Do you know / use some tricks to get more page impressions? Thank you, Sally
